ALFA ROMEO GIULIA IGNITION START / STOP BUTTON INSTALLATION ASSISTANCE GUIDE
HOW TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY ON THE ALFA ROMEO GIULIA BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE WINDOWS ARE IN THE 'UP' POSITION. TURN OFF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. OPEN THE BOOT COMPARTMENT / LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT AND LOCK THE CAR. MAKE SURE THIS DOES NOT CLOSE DURING THIS PROCEDURE AS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE LID AGAIN IF YOU DO. WAIT 10 MINUTES AND CARRY OUT THE STEPS BELOW. STEP 1: ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE BOOT COMPARTMENT THERE IS A BLACK COVER. TURN THE RETAINERS (1a) ANTI CLOCKWISE TO THE END OF THEIR TRAVEL AND RELEASE THEM. REMOVE COVER / LID. STEP 2: DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE TERMIANL (1b) FROM THE DUMMY POLE (1c). TO RELEASE THE TERMINAL PRESS THE RETAINER (1a) AND LIFT OFF OF THE DUMMY POLE. THESE GUIDES HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO ASSIST YOU IN CARRYING OUT THE JOB AT HAND BUT WE HOLD NO RESPONSIBILITY TO ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY BE CAUSED DURING THE PROCESS AND ADVISE THAT THE JOB IS TO BE CARRIED OUT BY A PROFFESSIONAL.
HOW TO REPLACE THE IGNITION START / STOP BUTTON ON THE ALFA ROMEO GIULIA PLACE THE STEERING WHEEL INTO THE CENTRAL POSITION WITH THE WHEELS FACING FORWARD / STRAIGHT. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY *FOLLOW THE STEPS ON THE OTHER PAGE* WAIT 1 MINUTE AND CARRY OUT THE STEPS BELOW. STEP 1: REMOVING THE AIR BAG MODULE INSERT A FLAT HEAD SCREWDRIVER (6-7MM) LONG IN THE STEERING WHEEL HOLE (1a). PUSH THE SPRING WIRE (1b) TO THE END. WHILST HOLDING IT IN THIS POSITION, TAKE OUT THE AIR BAG MODULE (1c) FROM IT'S HOUSING SLIGHTLY. STEP 2: CAREFULLY CONTINUTE TO TAKE OUT THE AIR BAG MODULE (1a), LETTING IT RUN ALONG THE SIDE RETAINERS (1b) ALONG THE TRACKS (1c) AND DOING THE SAME FOR THE UPPER RETAINING (1d) AND THE UPPER TRACK (1e).
STEP 3: ONCE YOU HAVE REMOVED THE AIR BAG MODULE (1a) COMPLETELY, REMOVE THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS (1b & 1c). 1b - HORN CONTROL 1c - DRIVER'S AIRBAG KEEP THIS ASIDE READY TO BE REFITTED. STEP 4: CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS (1a) AND (1b) IF PRESENT. RELEASE THE COVER OF THE STEERING WHEEL FIXING NUT (2a). 1a - CLOCK SPRING COUPLING 1b - STEERING WHEEL HEATING ASSISTANCE STEP 5: UNDO THE STEERING WHEEL FIXING NUT (1a) AND REMOVE THE STEERING WHEEL (2a). REMOVE THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY BY RELEASING IT FROM THE WIRING (3a).
STEP 6: PLACE THE STEERING WHEEL FACE DOWN ON A FLAT SURFACE. UNDO THE 3 SCREWS ON THE BACK OF THE STEERING WHEEL (1a). THESE ARE HELD ON BY 2x TORX BOLTS AND 1x PHILLIPS SCREW. ONCE REMOVED YOU NEED TO RELEASE THE CONTROLS AND LIFT THE UNIT UPWARDS. STEP 7: FLIP THE STEERING WHEEL SO THE FACE IS UPRIGHT. CAREFULLY DISENGAGE THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROL UNIT (1a) BY UNDOING THE INTERNAL FASTENERS. IT IS ADVISED THAT YOU USE THE CORRECT TOOL FOR THE JOB (PART NO. 2000040516). DISCONNECT THE CONTROL UNIT LINK (1a) WITH THE STEERING WHEEL ELECTRICAL CONNECTION (2a) FROM ITS HOUSING.
STEP 8: DETACH THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS (1a, 1b & 1c). 1a - CLOCK SPRING COUPLING 1b - CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM CONTROL 1c - RADIO CONTROLS ON STEERING WHEEL STEP 9: WITH THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS REMOVED FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. UNDO THE 2x BOLTS (1a) LOCATED ON THE REAR OF THE COVER (1b) WHICH WILL FREE UP THE WIRING (1c).
STEP 10: REMOVE THE SWITCH AND THE WIRNG (1a). *THESE GUIDES HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO ASSIST YOU IN CARRYING OUT THE JOB AT HAND BUT WE HOLD NO RESPONSIBILITY TO ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY BE CAUSED DURING THE PROCESS AND ADVISE THAT THE JOB IS TO BE CARRIED OUT BY A PROFFESSIONAL.*
REFITTING GUIDE FOR THE IGNITION START / STOP BUTTON ON THE ALFA ROMEO GIULIA STEP 1: CHECK THAT THE SWITCH AND THE WIRING ARE NOT DAMAGED. POSITION THE SWITCH AND THE WIRING (1a). STEP 2: POSITION THE COVER (1a) ARRANGING THE WIRING (1b) AS SHOWN IN THE FIGURE. TIGHTEN BOTH SCREWS THAT GO INTO THE PLASTIC COVER (2a).
STEP 3: REFIT ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS (1a, 1b & 1c) FROM THE CONTROL UNIT (1d). STEP 4: CORRECTLY AND CAREFULLY REPOSITION THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION (1a) WITH THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROL UNIT (1b) IN ITS HOUSING. CAREFULLY RECONNECT TEH CONTROL UNIT (1b) IN ITS HOUSING AND REDO THE INTERNAL FASTENERS.
STEP 5: PLACE THE STEERIGN WHEEL SO IT IS FACE DOWN AND RETIGHTEN TEH 3 SCREWS IN THE BACK (1a). STEP 6: ENGAGE THE WIRING (1a) ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL (1b). INSERT THE STEERING WHEEL (1b) ENGAGING IT WITH THE SHAFT (2a) RESPECTING THE REFERENCE GROOVE (2b) POSITION WHICH LETS YOU FIT THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE CORRECT POSITION.
STEP 7: ENGAGE THE COVER (1a) OF THE STEERING WHEEL FIXING NUT. CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS (2a & 2b) IF PRESENT. DON'T WORRY IF THESE WIRES ARE MISSING AS THESE ARE ADDED EXTRAS FROM FACTORY (HEATED STEERING WHEEL AND CLOCK SPRING COUPLING). STEP 8: HANDLE THE AIR BAG MODULE VERY CAREFULLY! ATTACH THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS (1b & 1c) TO THE AIR BAG MODULE (1a). STEP 9: CAREFULLY INSERT THE AIR BAG MODULE (1a) LETTING IT RUN INTO THE SIDE RETAINERS (1b) AND ALONG THE TRACKS (1c) AND THE UPPER RETAINER (1d). BE CAREFUL NOT TO FLATTEN THE AIRBAG MODULE CONNECTION WIRES.
STEP 10: WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED INSERTING THE AIRBAG MODULE (1a) INTO THE STEERING WHEEL (1b) ITS RETAINERS (1c) SHOULD ENGAGE WITH THE RETAINER CLIP WIRE (1d). MAKE SURE THE AIR BAG MODULE IS CORRECTLY ENGAGED.
