Research station Energy for future findings KIRSCH guarantees stand-alone power supplies for research Research doesn t normally start in a test tube but outdoors and involves, quite literally, a great deal of energy. This, for instance, is demonstrated by research platforms in the Baltic Sea that have to operate independently of any infrastructure. This requires reliable technology that can stand continuous operation in harsh environments. It s exactly these special needs that KIRSCH focuses on with its container-built power supply systems. They not only protect the equipment from saline corrosion but also offer sound insulation, thus guaranteeing a constant power supply for those living and working on research stations. Trolley buses in Malatya Energy for innovation on four wheels with the APU 50 DPE Safely and reliably the Kirsch APU is put into action every day in Malatya and more than 1000 times throughout the world when buses have to be moved while disconnected from the overhead trolley wire. Whether driving around obstacles, maneuvering around the depot, driving through the bus wash or simply when the main power supply fails, with the APU from KIRSCH the bus is always powered up. The latest technology is always used and the exhaust after-treatment needs are naturally fulfilled up to the EURO VI emission standard. As availability is good and the performance of the APU so reliable, bus networks are increasingly being expanded to new city areas where there are no overhead lines and possibly where they will never be installed. Hybrid locomotives from Alstom Energy for innovation on rails with the MPU 200 and MPU 300 In the meantime, there are over 1000 trolley buses successfully operating drive units from Kirsch. The same success is now being seen with hybrid drive units in the rail sector. In 2006, KIRSCH supplied the first MPU 200 prototype for a hybrid shunting locomotive. Meanwhile, a further 10 MPUs are being used for daily shunting work. The 200 kw diesel-electric drive with PME generator serves either for the sole, direct basic supply of electricity/charging the batteries or for delivering together with the battery blocks the necessary peak power for heavy traction operations. The complete unit is delivered on a ready-to-fit base frame that only has to be installed in the locomotive. Kirsch also received a follow-up order to supply 10 of the MPU 200 s successor, the more powerful MPU 300, for the ultra-modern Alstom H3 shunting locomotive.
