Future of Mobility- India Autonomous Vehicles: Preparing for a driverless future

Disruption as a pedigree CHANGE AGENT FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS 1. Office Automation Per copy model First in the country 2. IT / Telecom Per min call rate First in the country 3. Auto / Automated electric vehicle Capex to Opex Per km AV fleet as Industry First in the country

Disruption in mobility industry Shifting the paradigm from car ownership to Autonomous electric vehicle (AEV) & car light society OLD Dead Asset Manufacturing Distribution Car Ownership Car Usage NEW Manufacturing Fleet AV On- Demand Per km model Service Industry

The new disruptive cycle Manufacturing EV/AV Deliver to EV/AV fleet (Service) Ride hailing Per KM Service Industry Solar based Charging station

Autonomous vehicles Vision and advantages for India 1. Productivity/Personal Savings Car light society and decline in Car Ownership: Cars now cost drivers 18% of annual income for an asset they use only 5% of the time 1 Electric and autonomous vehicle = 300 km/day and 1 private vehicle = 60 km/day. Hence 1 AV replaces 5 private cars on road in a way. EV to AV cycle and eco system AV reduces driver cost in fleet and app based taxi hailing services which ultimately leads to low taxi rentals. AV/EV would result in a reduction of 156 Mtoe in diesel and petrol consumption for that year. (Source: NITI Aayog)

Autonomous vehicles Vision and advantages for India 2. Reduce Traffic congestion AVs will utilize the city s existing Road surface area more efficiently and provide more breathing space for the city AVs will reduce or eliminate most of the parking space used up in the city 25% of congestion due to accidents will be averted by AVs. (Source: Bates Carey LLP) 3. Environmental and other social benefits Cars account for 20% of all greenhouse gas emissions and 60% of petroleum use. AVs will totally eliminate this. (Source: Bates Carey LLP) Fuel efficiency will improve by 10% to 40%. (Source: Bates Carey LLP) AV will reduce the Total Cost of ownership of a car for the society and free up disposable income for the household.
