Tour de Sahara Route By pedelec By pedelec and solar trailer
Tour de Sahara Summary Summary Almost 2000km on 2 Pedelecs Technology No major technical problems Since incidence angle was not ideal, the solar panels charged at 45W or less instead of possible 55W Charging a battery took over 10 hours We could still charge 50-70% by solar power Speeds 10-60km/h with trailer 18-60km/h without trailer Range (576Wh battery) 50km av. with trailer (half motor power, 12km uphill) 90km av. without trailer (half motor power, 25km uphill)
Tour de Sahara Summary Test Passed! Compliment to GO SwissDrive Motor The motor survived hardest testing conditions Up to 14% incline Bad roads Strong head wind Over 100kg load All at the same time No problems at all Motor and muscle power are in perfect harmony This is especially obvious on rough off-road trails
Tour de Sahara Conclusion Attention Catching Speed Pedelecs are Great Traveling Companyons Speed Pedelec Compared to Regular Touring Bike Kick-off and uphill riding with luggage is much easier Traveling speed is 6-10 km/h higher Range per day is much higher The benefit is worth the extra weight Solar Trailer Yes or No? Yes in flat and remote areas where there is no electricity outlet available every day to extend the range No in hilly areas where the extra weight takes away the benefit of the electric system unless the place is really remote
