Questions? 1-800-325-3841 Important Safeguards When using electrical devices, basic safety precautions should always be followed. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS: The Control Switch must be in the OFF position before plugging the cart into a wall outlet. This cart must only be connected to a 120 volt a.c. 15 or 20 amp power supply. Electrical devices are not toys. Children are often unaware of the hazards associated with electrical devices and the storage cabinet must therefore always be used by adults or with adult supervision. The cart is not designed for outdoor use. Liquids should not be stored in, set on or placed inside the cart. Never unplug this product from the outlet when your hands are wet or by pulling the power cord. Never pull the cart by the power cord. Do not pull or jam the power cord against sharp edges. Do not leave the power cord hanging and do not crush or drag the power cord while transporting the cart. Do not use an extension cord in conjunction with this cart. Do not plug the cart in if the switch, receptacle(s) or power cord have been damaged. All electrical components on this product must be repaired by a qualified electrician. Inadequate repair can create significant hazards to users and is not covered by the warranty. To protect the cart s contents and structural integrity, make sure the doors are closed and latched before moving the cart. Anthro cannot accept any liability for damage if the cart is misused, incorrectly operated or inadequately repaired. Under these circumstances the warranty will be void. Before You Use the Charging Cart A receptacle should be installed near the cart and should be readily accessible. For your safety, have a qualified electrician test the circuit where you will be plugging in the unit. The circuit should be checked for ground integrity and appropriate branch circuit protection. The unit s ground prong must be present for safe operation. If the plug is damaged or if the ground prong has been removed it should be replaced by a qualified electrician. The cart should only be used for the storage, transport and charging of notebook computers. Adults should supervise the use of the cart, including: plugging or unplugging computers, plugging or unplugging the cart, operating the control switch, and engaging or releasing the casters. The use of the cable ties is optional. anthro.com 3

Anthro Netbook Charging Cart Owners Manual Loading Your Notebooks into the Cart 1. Open a door by pulling the latch handle out from the recessed area. Turn it 90 degrees and open. 2. Locate the external control switch. Push the switch to the middle position. When in the middle position, power is cut off from both internal and external receptacles. To eliminate any arcing, the switch should be in the off position when laptop charging units are being plugged in or removed from the storage bays and prior to plugging the storage cart into a wall receptacle. 3. Plug in the power cord. 4. Load one notebook into each storage bay so that the power connection on each notebook faces out. 5. Insert one plastic cable clip into the hole on the side of each bay. Use this clip to hold the power cord in place as shown. 6. Place each power transformer on the back shelf and route the cord from there to the notebook at the front of the cart. 7. Load notebooks into bays on the other side of the cart. NOTE: Make sure the external control switch is in the middle off position and then plug each notebook into the 120 V receptacle in each bay. Charging Your Notebooks Push the external electrical switch into the down position to direct power to the receptacles inside the cart. Plug the notebook power adapters into the receptacles to charge your notebooks. When the external switch is in the down position, the external electrical receptacles do not receive power. Using the Outside Electrical Receptacles for a Lecture Station The cart can be used as a lecture station and has 120 V convenience outlets located on the outside of the unit. The NCC10 has two external outlets, and the NCC20 has four external outlets. The maximum electrical output for the combined external receptacles is 12 A. The external electrical receptacles are disabled when the cart is charging notebooks. 1. Push the external control switch to the up position. You will feel a positive engagement of the switch indicating power to the external receptacles. When the external switch is in the up position, the internal electrical receptacles do not receive power. 2. Route cords and cables through the cord pass-through at the top of the cart to reach the Plug in your other hardware such as printers and overhead projectors to use the cart as a lecture station. Moving Your Cart 1. Your cart comes equipped with two swivel lock casters (they have a green tab) and two total lock casters (they have a black tab). To successfully steer your cart, make sure the tabs on the locking casters are in an upright unlocked position. Push the tabs on the directional casters to the down position. 2. To protect the cart s contents and structural integrity, make sure the doors are closed and latched before moving the cart. 3. When you reach your desired location, push all the tabs on the casters to the down locked position. 4 Anthro Corporation Technology Furniture 10450 SW Manhasset Drive Tualatin, Oregon 97062 anthro.com

Doors and Locks Questions? 1-800-325-3841 The doors on each cart feature a two-point keyed locking system to protect your devices. To open a door, lift the bottom of the handle and rotate it to the inside of the cart. Your cart shipped with 2 keys. Contact Anthro, 800.325.3841, for replacements. For added security, each front door features hasps to hold your own padlock (maximum shackle dia 7mm; minimum shackle height 51mm). When installed, your padlock restricts access to the handle so the cart. To protect each cart s contents and structural integrety, latch cart doors before moving the cart. Removing Notebook Shelves The shelves inside the cart enclosure can be removed to store larger items. The bolts used to install them are tightened to 20 in-lbs in order to ensure that the cart is grounded, so they may be difficult to remove by hand. Use 5/16 open-end wrenches or sockets to remove by hand or a power driver with 5/16 attachment. These steps require two people. 1. Open the doors at the front and back of the enclosure. 2. One person stands at the front of the cart and holds the nut in place using the open-end wrench or socket. The other person stands at the back of the cart and loosens the screw using the torque wrench. 3. Store the screw, nut, and shelf together so they can be replaced safely. Replacing Notebook Shelves The shelves inside the cart enclosure can be replaced, too. A torque wrench with a 5/16 socket attachment plus a 5/16 open-end wrench or socket are required for this change. 4. Open the doors at the front and back of the enclosure. 5. While one person stands at the front of the cart and slides the shelf into place, the other stands at the back of the cart to make sure the shelf comes all the way through. 6. The person at the back of the cart lines up the hex bolt through the hole at the back of the shelf, through the divider plate at the back of the enclosure. The person at the front of the cart captures the bolt with the keps nut and threads the nut onto the screw and tightens by hand. 7. While the person at the front of the cart holds the nut in place with a 5/16 open-end wrench or socket, the person at the back of the cart tightens the screw to 20 in-lbs using a torque wrench with a 5/16 socket attachment. TIGHTENING THE FASTENER TO THIS SETTING IS CRUCIAL TO MAINTAIN SAFE ELECTRICAL GROUNDING OF THE CART. anthro.com 5
