Description The Meridian Basic control system converts a single zone HVAC unit into a variable air volume/variable air temperature multiple zone system. The microprocessor based Zone Manager calculates the heating and cooling requirements for each zone based on real time information received from each Zone Controller. The Zone Manager then directs the HVAC unit to provide the appropriate amount of heating, cooling, and ventilation to satisfy each zone's requirements. A static pressure sensor, which modulates a bypass damper, maintains a constant system duct pressure. Substantial savings can be realized using the Meridian Basic system instead of installing multiple HVAC units to accommodate multiple zones. The Meridian Basic system is versatile and can be used with any 3-40 ton HVAC unit. It controls a variety of terminal unit functions including single duct pressure dependent or pressure independent systems. User friendly, menu driven, fill in the blank programming, makes the Meridian Basic easy to set up and operate without the need for specialized training. ZoneView AZ, a Windows based color graphic software package is available at no additional charge. The optional CommLink II must be ordered and connected to a PC in order to use the software for on-site control and monitoring. If remote monitoring and control is required, an optional modem must be ordered or supplied. 036-33060-001 Rev. A (0301)

Meridian is a new approach to providing simple, cost effective, control solutions to many standard unitary HVAC systems. Meridian provides a very competitive controls solution for buildings that require more control than a programmable room thermostat will provide yet are not budgeted for full building automation systems. These systems come pre-engineered, pre-programmed, and fully documented. This provides two main benefits for the contractor, engineer, and end user: 1. Advanced direct digital control technology for comfort and energy savings at up to 50% lower cost than traditional direct digital control systems. 2. A system that is simple to use allowing almost any HVAC technician to install and start-up the system without the need for specialized training. The following pages are designed to give you a perspective of what Meridian can do for your HVAC control applications. Data entry is accomplished through a keypad and backlighted 4 line by 20 character Liquid Crystal Display. User friendly, menu driven programming makes the Meridian system easy to set up and operate without the need for specialized training. The Zone Controller monitors the space temperature and allocates the proper airflow into its assigned space to achieve the desired comfort and ventilation levels. If the supply air temperature is near the zone temperature setpoint, the zone damper modulates to reduce or increase airflow as needed. If supply air will not benefit the local zone, the controller will direct the damper actuator to a minimum position and wait for a change in supply air temperature. For pressure independent applications, an optional airflow sensor can be added. The airflow sensor is easily installed by plugging into a jack located on the controller board. The controller automatically recognizes the presence of the sensor on system power up and configures for pressure independent operation. Drybulb economizer control is available via an analog 0-10 VDC output from the Zone Manager. An optional Wetbulb Module (OE782) is available to provide wetbulb calculations for maximum economizer efficiency. An optional auxiliary relay board is available for control of auxiliary heat, series fan and parallel fan control. The relay board connects to the zone controller via a plug-in modular connector. The Zone Sensor is a patented design, flush wall mounted sensor. A special plate on the face of the sensor accurately samples space conditions, yet rejects the influence of internal wall temperatures. The sensor comes in four models: Sensor only Sensor w/ push button override Sensor w setpoint adjustment Sensor w/ override and setpoint adjustment Each Zone Sensor setpoint adjustment is programmable from 0 to ±5 via the Zone Manager.
