RELIABLE AND ECONOMIC LUBRICATION ADVANTAGES Reliable and economic lubrication for a long bearing life Rolling bearings are reliable machine elements which have a long service life. The most common cause of failure is insufficient or incorrect lubrication. About 90% of all bearings are lubricated with grease. Thus, a reliable supply of a suitable grease is particularly important. A sufficient amount of fresh grease is being constantly supplied to the contact areas of the rolling bearings by an automatic lubricator. The bearing service life is far longer as a result. The reliable and cost-effective devices extend lubrication and maintenance intervals and eliminate the risk of supplying too little or too much grease. The plant downtimes are shorter, maintenance cost less. The use of economical and environmentally friendly lubricants contributes towards greater operational efficiency. Advantages Individual and precise supply to each bearing location immediately after setting into operation Fully automatic, maintenancefree operation Cost saving in comparison to manual relubrication Operates independent of temperature in range from 10 to +50 C 4 discharge periods which are adjustable (1, 3, 6 or 12 months) Drive is reusable and, therefore resource-friendly and economical LC-unit replaceable on site Corrosion-proof, dust-proof and splash-proof (IP 65) LED display of operating conditions (operating, idle, malfunction) With automatic lubrication there is no question of mistaking the lubricants Builds up pressure to 5 bar, thus overcoming any hindrance Constant check on discharge amount possible with the transparent casing There is a snap switch for ON and OFF Extensive accessory programme Every lubricator is delivered with detailed operating instructions. The FAG lubricator, Motion Guard, is individually adjusted to the bearing area and makes costly central lubrication plants superfluous. It can be used everywhere: pumps, compressors and fans, conveyor plants, vehicles, etc. FAG 1
FEATURES AND DESIGN OF LUBRICATOR Features and Design The automatic FAG lubricator, Motion Guard, is driven electromechanically. The robust electronically controlled back-geared motor can be reused. The battery set can be exchanged but not recharged. The LC-unit (Lubricant Canister) screwed to the drive unit is filled with 120 or 250 cm 3 FAG lubricating grease. The device builds up pressure of up to 5 bar. After a few start up attempts the system automatically shuts off at this maximum pressure. Function displays on the drive unit: Green flash (every 15 seconds): O.K. Red flash (every 8 seconds): malfunction Green/red flash (every 3 seconds): LC-unit empty Permanently red: discharge process Drive unit The standard FAG lubricating grease Arcanol L135V, which is used, is a lithium soap base grease of the NLGI-Class 2 with EP additives. It is suitable both for a wide speed range and for heavy loads and is easy to convey. The lubricator is attached to the lubrication point (connection thread G 1 /4) via an adapter (included in delivery). Upon delivery, the discharge period is set at 6 months (discharge amount for LC unit 120 cm 3 : 0.67 cm 3 /day). The lubricator can also be set at 1, 3 or 12 months (for larger or smaller discharge amounts, see following table). The empty LC-unit cannot be refilled. SELECTING THE DISCHARGE PERIOD Selecting the discharge period The discharge period is defined as the period in which the lubricant is completely discharged into the point of lubrication. The discharge period to be set is based on the index x, which takes the bore diameter of the bearing and the application factors into consideration, and also on the operating speed, see table for LC-unit 120 cm 3. If the larger LC-unit (250 cm 3 ) is being used, the next discharge period can be set to achieve about the same discharge volume. Application of table Application factors Degree Type Dust, Moisture Load, Vibration medium + 10 + 10 heavy + 15 + 15 very heavy + 20 + 20 Example: FAG spherical roller bearing 22212E (bore diameter 60 mm) medium moisture level, heavy load, speed n = 1000 min -1 Application factors medium moisture level + 10 heavy load + 15 Index x = bore diameter [mm] + application factors Index x = 60 + 10 + 15 = 85 Where n = 1000 min -1 and x = 85 a discharge period of 3 months (for LC-unit 120 cm 3 ) results from the table. n 2000 [min -1 ] 1500 1000 500 Discharge period 12 months Discharge period 6 months Discharge period 3 months Discharge period 1month 25 50 75 100 125 150 x Table for selecting the discharge period applicable to LC-unit 120 cm 3 (for LC-unit 250 cm 3 the next discharge period can be selected, in this example 6 months) FAG 3
