Oil Country Tubular Goods Contents Oil Country Tubular Goods - Made in Germany Salzgitter and Mannesmann two worldwide leading partners in the OCTG business merged to Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe. The rising demands we make on our material quality of life are compelling us to ever-greater efforts to secure raw materials and energy. But primary energy and raw material resources first have to be tapped before they can be exploited a task which would be impossible without steel pipes. The loads on steel pipe used in the exploration, production and distribution all over the world are continuously increasing. Corrosion attacks from aggressive media such as sour gas, carbon dioxide and chlorides present a constant challenge to the physical and mechanical properties of steel. That's why welded casings from Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe are often used where new oil and gas deposits have been explored. Steel pipe production Latest investments and improvements for 24 upgrade ` ` 1 ` 2 NEW ` 3 4 NEW NEW Sizing Visual inspection Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe is one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of High Frequency Induction (HFI) welded Oil Country Tubular Goods. The company's already high quality production and testing facilities are modernised on an ongoing basis. The entire mill from the strip preparation section through to the HFI welding table was upgraded in 2007 as part of a major investment programme geared towards extending the manufacturing programme to include 24" pipe. Ultramodern annealing equipment ensures uniform product quality in line with the most stringent customer requirements. The installation of additional power capacity has speeded up production rates, giving maximum productivity and output at an outstanding cost-performance ratio. New sizing units ensure excellent pipe roundness as an essential prerequisite for the high collapse resistance required for OCTG. The latest non-destructive testing technology provides verifiable test results before the casings coated with a novel, solventfree corrosion protection agent are released for shipment to their destinations around the world. Quality management Why you always get the quality you expect from us Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe is a member of the American Petroleum Institute (API) and an authorized producer of Oil Country Tubular Goods in accordance with API 5CT for more than 30 years. Quality Management Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe is certified by DIN EN ISO 9001, DIN EN ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and API Q1. Pre-Material Supply Slabs are supplied by Krupp Mannesmann steel works (HKM) as a member of Salzgitter group or by Salzgitter steel works (SZFG). Coils are either supplied by ThyssenKrupp steel or Salzgitter steel works. Our specialists are at your disposal at any time to provide you with detailed information on Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe casing. Research and Development As a part of the Tube division of Salzgitter group Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe has full access to the integrated Salzgitter Mannesmann Research Institute (SZMF) and is in close contact to national and international technical institutes and universities (e.g. Institute of Petroleum Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology). 6

Testing methods Monitoring fosters confidence Tests and checks at Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe are not restricted to those prescribed by the various standards. We carry out a large number of additional internal in-process checks and tests in order to ensure that the finished products more than meet the customers' specifications. We inspect and check just about everything that's checkable. Both of our locations are fully equipped with state-of-the-art measuring and testing facilities. It's almost like in a modern diagnosis clinic, the way the pipes are subjected to a throughgoing check-up : they're measured, weighed, and have to pass ultrasonic testing and visual inspection, followed by microscopic and macroscopic evaluation of the results. They also undergo destructive testing, so nothing at all is left to chance. In very complex diagnosis cases, we have the full backing of our group's own research institute with its specialists in every sphere of pipe science and technology. Heat analysis The steel we work with is extremely homogeneous and is made with the utmost exactness to meet particular requirements. Each heat is subjected to analysis ISO/DIS 14284 to check whether its chemical composition is in keeping with the applicable tolerances. This is re-checked at our mill in the form of one product analysis per heat. In-process checks At every stage of the production process, checks are performed to verify a pipe's compliance in all its essential characteristics with the applicable specifications. This includes dimensional checks (length, diameter, wall thickness), mechanicaltechnological tests, hydrostatic testing for leaks, and measuring the layer thicknesses both of the PE coating and the cement mortar lining. Statistic evaluation of the results forms the basis for any necessary preventive measures to ensure the continuous high quality of the processes. 7

Physical properties and color code Innovative research and continuous developments have made Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe one of the pioneers in the High Frequent Induction (HFI) pipe production to a comprehensive leader in the HFI-welding technology. HFI-welding is the state-of-the-art technology of ERW process. The product range covers HFI-welded API casing from 6 5/8" to 24". Temporary corrosion protection Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe entire OCTG product range from 6 5/8"- 24" can be temporarily corrosion protected using state-of-the-art equipment. As from now solvent-free varnish technique will be used. In order to built a high efficient unit, spray guns are uniformly distributed around the pipe circumference. Uniform coating thickness and a safe corrosion protection are achieved in this way. Drying process works using ultraviolet light which ensures pipe handling and shipping without any delay after application. The coating units are designed in order to fulfill German and international stringent environmental requirements like ISO 14001 easily. High Collapse OCTG Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe high collapse casing is based on API grades K 55 and N 80 with improved performance properties. HFI-welded casing in general has major advantages with regard to uniform wall thickness, roundness, concentricity over the entire length and whole circumference and therefore offers high collapse resistance. With a recent increase in deep well drilling, there is a growing need for high collapse casing. Major influency factors on collapse resistance are: high degree of roundness uniform wall thickness D/t ratio (D= Outside Diameter; t= wall thickness) Yield Strength and residual stress Conditional upon HFI-special production process and continuously research and developments Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe casing achieve an optimised collapse behaviour. High Collapse OCTG 35 30 Collapse Pressure in MPa 25 20 15 K55 K55HC 10 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 Outside Diameter/wall thickness (D/t) N80 The diagram shows actual measured collapse strength values tested by the Salzgitter Mannesmann Research Institute and the Institute of Petroleum Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology on behalf of Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe. Please note that the engineering data for the collapse resistance bear remarkable safety margins when compared to actual test data. In strings designed for high collapse resistance, the joint strength is likely to be inconsequential; nevertheless, the actual joint strength of Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe high collapse casing offers an additional safety margin. German speciality: Salzgitter Mannesmann Line Pipe VW Drilling mud recipe a medium sweet appetizer 3 parts Vermouth, Martini Bianco (sweet only) 1 part Williams pear Brandy ice-cubes Combine as follows: 1. Choose as Vermouth Martini Bianco, only sweet taste should be used, 2. fill 3 parts Vermouth into a small cocktail glass, 3. add 1 part Williams pear Brandy and 4. serve it on the rocks 27
