Installation Instructions Step : Seat Removal Seat removal is easy and straightforward, but doing it in the proper order can save you some time and hassle. Repeat this process on both sides of the car: ) Tilt the seat-back forward, and move the seat base to the forward-most position ) Use a screwdriver to remove the plastic mounting bolt covers, then remove the bolts with a mm socket 3) Slide the seat base all the way rearward ) Move the carpet flaps aside and remove the front mount bolts 5) Lean the entire seat rearward with the seat still tilted forward to expose the bottom of the seat 6) Disconnect the wiring harness on the bottom of the seat 7) Leaving the seat back tilted, remove the seat headrest-first from the car Step : Seat Belt Disassembly Remove the upper b-pillar seat belt plastic trim piece by gently prying from surrounding trim. To expose the lower seat belt mounting bolt, pry off the cap. Remove the lower bolt using the 7mm socket, then remove the bolt from the bracket. Slide the upper trim piece over the buckle and lower mount to remove. This trim piece will not be reinstalled Step 3: Trim Removal Remove the rear upper trim panel by pulling out on the top edge, then pushing upward on the entire panel: Cedar Ridge Fabrication 5707 NW McNamee Rd Portland, OR 973 503-6-9670
Remove the rear lower panels behind the seats by lifting in an upward direction with your hands. The panel has four clips that disengage when pulled upward. Using the needle nose pliers remove the retaining clip for the rear hatch release lever. Remove the lever. Pull the rubber door trim away from the body at the rear section of the door opening. To remove the lower rear corner panels, remove the three screws and pull straight out. Cedar Ridge Fabrication 5707 NW McNamee Rd Portland, OR 973 503-6-9670 5
Start removal of the upper rear trim panels by removing the three screws along the base. Then, using a flashlight and the trim removal tool, locate the three tabs in the center of the panel and pop them loose. Thread the seat belt through the opening in the panel to completely remove from the vehicle. Using the 7mm socket, remove the upper seat belt D-ring (anchor). Lay the seatbelt on the floorpan; do not remove the lower retractor unit from the vehicle. THE NEXT THREE STEPS MUST BE DONE IN CLOSE SUCCESSION DUE TO THE APPLICATION OF LOCTITE. IF YOU CAN NOT COMPLETE BOTH STEPS IN THE SAME WORK SESSION DELAY MOVING FORWARD. Step : Harness Bar Assembly Test Fit and Dogleg Bracket Locating Locate the Harness Bars (items and ), and mm x.5 bolts/washers. Utilizing washers under the lower mounting points to simulate the added height of the seat base mount, loosely install the harness bars into the chassis. Tighten the mounting bolts a little at a time, checking for clearance to surrounding vehicle parts, until the bolts are snug and the bars are secure. Step 5: Upper Seat Belt Mount Modification Get the Dogleg Bracket and 7/6 x 0 bolt (item 6). Assemble the Dogleg Bracket over the seat belt upper D-ring you just removed utilizing the new 7/6 bolt in the order pictured below: Apply Loctite to the bolt threads. Thread the assembly into the chassis hand-tight, so the Dogleg Bracket can still be rotated while being held snugly in alignment with the chassis. Step 6: Securing Dogleg Bracket Locate the long / bolt (item 9). Rotate the Dogleg Bracket so the threaded hole is in line with the ovalized upper hole on the Harness bar. Thread the / bolt through the ovalized hole into the Dogleg bracket and tighten to finger tight, then loosen one complete revolution, so that the bolt is holding the Dogleg Bracket in line with the hole but is not restricting its movement. There may be a large gap between the Harness Bar and Dogleg Bracket: this is acceptable. Tighten the 7/6 seat belt mounting bolt (item 6) to 3 ft-lb, keeping the / bolt through the harness bar centered on the hold such that the / bolt can still move freely. Dogbone Bracket Gap May Exist / Bolt Harness Bar Step 7: Dogleg Bracket Location Verification Remove the Harness Bars from the vehicle. Locate the upper side trim and thread the seat belt through the pass-through hole. Reinstall the trim and ensure the Dogleg Bracket mounting hole can be seen through the pass-through hole in the trim: Cedar Ridge Fabrication 5707 NW McNamee Rd Portland, OR 973 503-6-9670 7
Step 8: Reassembly Reinstall all trim in the order it was removed. Reinstall the lower seat belt mounting point, utilizing Loctite on the threads. Tighten to 3 ft-lb. Replace the seats into the car and connect the electrical harness on the bottom. Reinstall the front seat mounting bolts but do not tighten. Slide the seat forward. STEPS 9 AND 0 DIFFER BETWEEN COUPES AND T-TOPS. UTILIZE THE SECTION APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR VEHICLE. For these final installation steps, it is essential to install all mounting bolts loosely, including the cross bar, then tighten the bolts incrementally. After the entire assmebly is loosely bolted, tighten all bolts to snug, then ¼ turn at a time until all bolts reach the appropriate torque. COUPE Step 9: Harness Bar Installation Place the left and right harness bars behind the seats, placing the lower mount points over the rear seat bracket mount holes. Assemble the 0mm washers (item ) onto the mm-.5 bolts previously used to mock install the harnesses (item 5), and apply Loctite to the threads. Loosely install the bolts through the lower mount points on the harness bars, through the rear seat holes, and into the chassis. Locate the Harness Cross Bar (item 3), Long / Bolts and / Washers (items 7 and 9), and Large OD Spacers (item 0). Apply Loctite to the bolt threads. Utilizing the Large OD Spacers between the Harness Cross Bar and Harness Bars, install the Cross Bar. Tighten the bolts using the 3/8 end wrench and 3/8 Hex Tool (item ). For final tightening utilize a 3/8 crow-foot attachment to your torque wrench, and tighten to at least 38 ft-lb. Cross Bar Spacer Harness Bar / Washer and Bolt Hex Tool Step 0: Final Mounting Install the Short / bolt and / washer (Items 8 and 9) through the harness bar slotted hole into the Dogleg Bracket. Torque for this bolt is 38 ft-lb. Cedar Ridge Fabrication 5707 NW McNamee Rd Portland, OR 973 503-6-9670 8
Tighten the rear seat mount/lower harness bar mount bolts to 9 ft-lb. Slide the seat rearward and tighten the front seat mount bolts to 9 ft-lb. T-Top Step 9: Harness Bar Installation Place the left and right harness bars behind the seats, placing the lower mount points over the rear seat bracket mount holes. Assemble the 0mm washers (item ) onto the mm-.5 bolts previously used to mock install the harnesses (item 5), and apply Loctite to the threads. Loosely install the bolts through the lower mount points on the harness bars, through the rear seat holes, and into the chassis. Locate the Harness Cross Bar (item 3) and Short / Bolts and / Washers (items 8 and 9). Apply Loctite to the bolt threads. Install the Cross Bar between the Harness Bars using the / bolts and washers. Tighten the bolts using the 3/8 end wrench and 3/8 Hex Tool (item ). For final tightening utilize a 3/8 crow-foot attachment to your torque wrench, and tighten to at least 38 ft-lb. Step 0: Final Mounting Install the Long / bolt and / washer (items 7 and 9) through the harness bar slotted hole, through the Small OD Spacer (item ) into the Dogleg Bracket. Torque for this bolt is 38 ft-lb. Dogleg Bracket Spacer Harness Bar / Washer and Bolt Hex Tool Tighten the rear seat mount/lower harness bar mount bolts to 9 ft-lb. Slide the seat rearward and tighten the front seat mount bolts to 9 ft-lb. Step : Harness Mounting Each harness manufacturer specifies belt loop routing for proper installation. We implore you as the installer and end-user to carefully follow your harness manufacturers directions for installation.
