Operating Instruction Manual First Edition SAFETY Tip-over Hazards Do not use the Super-Straddle except with a Genie AWP (see page 4). Do not use on a sloping surface unless all four swivel casters are locked in a position crossing the slope and their brakes are applied. Do not operate the Super-Straddle unless all four Genie AWP outriggers are properly installed in the Super-Straddle base, screw jack pads are in firm contact with ground and straddle platform is level. Do not operate machine unless all retaining pins are properly installed. Do not operate the Super-Straddle or adjust or remove outriggers while platform is occupied or elevated. Collision Hazard Be aware of overhead obstructions. The Super- Straddle adds 4 ft. (1.2m) to the working height of the Genie AWP being used. Electrocution Hazard The Super-Straddle is not electrically insulated and neither by itself or together with the Genie AWP will not provide protection from contact with or proximity to any electrical charge or electrical device. Damaged Machine Hazards Do not use a damaged or malfunctioning machine. Do not use machine if either cable is worn, frayed or kinked. Conduct a thorough pre-operation machine inspection prior to each work shift. Look for damage such as cracked welds and frayed winch cables. Inspect winch, fasteners, frames and casters. Be sure all maintenance has been performed as specified in the Operating Instruction Manual. Be sure all decals are in place and legible. Incorrect Figure 1 Correct Figure 2 Do not operate machine on a slope (figure 1) unless it is positioned with length running with the slope and the straddle platform is level (figure 2). Be sure Operating Instruction Manual is legible and in the storage tube located on the base frame. Maintain proper lubrication on winch. Do not allow oil or grease on braking surfaces. Do not attempt to raise the Super-Straddle unless all four Genie AWP outriggers are properly installed in the Super-Straddle, or you may damage the interlocks, winch or cable. 2 Genie Super-Straddle Part No. 28433

Operating Instruction Manual First Edition Operating Instructions Before Each Use: Read, understand and obey all safety rules (see Safety Rules, page 1). Conduct a thorough pre-operation machine inspection prior to each work shift. Look for damage such as cracked welds and frayed winch cables. Inspect winch, fasteners, frames and casters. Immediately tag and remove from service a damaged or malfunctioning machine. Repair any machine damage or malfunctions before operating machine. Use only Genie AWP with "X" outrigger pattern. Setup Position Super-Straddle on a firm, level surface. Apply brakes to both swivel casters on the base frame (figure 1). Remove retaining pins from base frames and separate (figures 2 & 3). Remove the ladder from the base frame cross member and set it aside. Release both swivel caster brakes and align the base frame behind the Genie AWP. Remove all four straddle sockets from the base frame and install them in the Genie AWP outrigger sockets (figure 4). Push the base frame through all four straddle sockets (figure 5). Correct Incorrect Insert retaining pins through the two straddle sockets closest to the fixed casters (figure 6). Align the telescoping base frame in front of the Genie AWP, then insert and push into base frame (figure 7). Adjust the Super-Straddle to the desired length, then insert the retaining pins which are attached to the straddle sockets at the front of the Genie AWP, through the straddle length adjustment holes (figure 8). Install a Genie AWP outrigger at each corner of the Super-Straddle (figure 9). 4 Genie Super-Straddle Part No. 28433

First Edition Operating Instruction Manual OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Positioning, Raising and Leveling Figure 1 Figure 2 Figure 3 Figure 4 straddle socket Raise the straddle platform just enough to lift the Genie AWP casters off the ground by turning each winch handle in a clockwise rotation. This machine is equipped with interlocks that prevent the raising of the straddle platform unless all four outriggers are installed. Push the Super-Straddle into position next to the object to be straddled. Two people are required to position the Super-Straddle if the ground surface is sloped. Lock the swivel casters closest to the object to be straddled in the desired direction of travel. Figure 5 Figure 7 Figure 6 Figure 8 Adjust the outrigger screw jacks so that the pads are close to, but do not touch, the ground surface. Raise the straddle platform to a level height just above the object to be straddled. Install retaining pins at each corner of the Super-Straddle, and release tension on winch cable (figure 10). Carefully push the Super-Straddle over the object to be straddled and apply all four swivel caster brakes. If the ground surface is sloped, set and lock the swivel casters at a right angle to the slope. Adjust the outrigger screw jacks so that the pads are in firm contact with ground and use the bubble level on the Genie AWP to level the straddle platform. Place the ladder on the Super-Straddle directly below the basket entry. After Each Use Figure 9 Figure 10 Select a safe storage location firm level surface, weather protected, clear of obstruction and traffic. Part No. 28433 Genie Super-Straddle 5

Operating Instruction Manual First Edition OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Assembly and Disassembly To move the Super-Straddle through a doorway or set up after shipping, follow these instructions. Assemble/disassemble the Super-Straddle only on a firm level surface. Two people are required to safely maneuver and support Super-Straddle components through this procedure. Do not allow Super-Straddle components to drop. No tools are needed. Assembly Apply caster brakes. Set caster swivel locks parallel to the straddle platform tubes. Both winch cables must be fully lowered. Be sure that the telescoping tubes are inserted and pinned to the same length in the straddle platform. Move the end frame marked Base Frame to the end of the straddle platform nearest the cross member. One person must support the end frame while the other attaches it to the straddle platform. The winch handle should point away from the machine. Position wear pads and attach each one with the supplied bolts, washers and wing nuts (figure 1). Move the end frame marked Telescoping Base Frame to the other end of the straddle platform and repeat two previous steps. Make sure that all wing nuts are tight. 6 Genie Super-Straddle Part No. 28433
