THANK YOU FOR PURCHASING THE MAGICO Q7 LOUDSPEAKERS. THE Q7 INCORPORATES ALL WE HAVE LEARNED IN THE PAST 20 YEARS ABOUT LOUDSPEAKER DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING. LIKE ALL MAGICO LOUDSPEAKERS, THE Q7 IS A PRECISION INSTRUMENT FOR MUSIC REPRODUCTION. PROPERLY SET UP AND MAINTAINED, IT WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH A GREAT MUSICAL EXPERIENCE FOR MANY YEARS. BEFORE UNPACKING AND PLAYING YOUR SPEAKERS, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING MANUAL FULLY. IT WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH DIRECTIONS FOR PROPERLY SETTING UP, POSITIONING, CONNECTING, AND CARING FOR YOUR SPEAKERS. FOLLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL ENSURE A SMOOTH INSTALLATION AND OPTIMUM SPEAKER PERFORMANCE. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR AUTHORIZED MAGICO DEALER. MAGICO MAINTAINS A NETWORK OF DEDICATED DISTRIBUTORS WHO WILL BE ABLE TO HELP YOU, SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS YOUR DEALER CANNOT RESOLVE. FOR THE LATEST INFORMATION ON ALL MAGICO PRODUCTS, PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE, WWW.MAGICO.NET. I WISH YOU MANY HOURS OF LISTENING PLEASURE. KINDEST REGARDS, ALON WOLF, CEO MAGICO LLC 2

WARNING The Q7 uses a tweeter equipped with a Beryllium dome, allowing a frequency range extending beyond 40kHz. In its solid form, Beryllium is harmless. However, due to its nature, certain special precautions should be observed to avoid exposure to unnecessary risk such: Under no circumstances should the Beryllium dome be subjected to any form of abrasive action. In the unlikely case of damage to the dome, of any form, a wide piece of adhesive tape should be immediately used to seal the whole front surface of the tweeter. You should then inform the dealer from whom you purchased the product so that the tweeter can be removed and replaced by a professional. If the dome is broken in any way giving rise to loose particles of Beryllium, these should be carefully collected with the use of an adhesive tape and sealed in a zip-top bag to be returned with the tweeter. 3

MAGICO Q7 UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS Required: 3 people, Flat-head screwdriver, and socket wrench with ½ and ¾ socket bits. Position crate on same level as listening position, with at least 12 feet in front of the crate and 4 feet behind the crate. Using a flat-head screwdriver pry off four clamps from door, careful to hold the opposite side of the clamp to prevent it popping off. Lay the ramp onto the floor. Using a ½ socket bit with either a wrench or power drill, remove 3 bolts from the bottom of each of the three remaining sides of the crate. (9 total) 4

With one person on either side of the crate walls, lift straight up and backwards, removing the walls of the crate. Set walls aside. The speaker will be sitting free on the base. Disengage the brakes on the casters; position the casters parallel to the ramp and facing the back of the crate for smooth removal. Using a ¾ socket wrench, turn the bolt at the base of the speaker clockwise until the C shaped piece of wood can be slid out from underneath. With the wood removed turn the same bolt counter clockwise to lower the foam platform to the base of the crate. 5

With one person behind the speaker and two in front, Push/pull the speaker towards the ramp. Apply pressure to the sides of the front of the speaker, careful not to touch the drivers, to ease the speaker straight down the ramp and onto the floor. Remove the crate. Push speaker as close to listening position as possible. Remove the velvet bag, protective plastic, and tweeter guard. Keeping the speakers on casters, play music and attempt to position them as close to the ideal listening position as possible. Refer to Q7 Lift Kit and foot installation manual to jack up the speaker, remove the casters and apply the feet. 6

USING THE Q7 LIFT KIT REQUIRED ITEMS: Q7 lift plate Q7 lift foot bracket (x3) 3/8 drive socket wrench (x3) 3/8 drive 15mm - 12 point socket (x3) Q7 foot assembly (x4) DIRECTIONS 7

STEP 1: Roll the Q7 loud-speaker cabinet into the approximate desired listening area. With the casters positioned as shown above. STEP 2: Slide the rear extension of the Q7 lift plate, padded side up, between the two rear casters. And then slide right side to the other side of the speaker. STEP 3: With one person at the front and back of the loud-speaker, work together to lift the Q7 lift plate from the ground so the padded material sits flush with the bottom 8

plate. Position the plate beneath the loud-speaker as shown below. Make certain that the front extensions do not impede upon the embossed circular reliefs that the casters are seated in. STEP 4: Seat the (3) Q7 lift foot brackets at the end of each of the (3) lift extensions. Make certain that the bolt heads of the Q7 foot brackets, on the front lift extensions, are of approximate equal distance from the side of the cabinet. Once the lift plate is seated, make sure that the brackets are also securely seated in the notches of the lift plate and that they are perpendicular to each other, with the bolts being perpendicular to the floor as well. Incorrectly angled placement of the brackets can put both the speaker and the installer in harm's way. 9

STEP 5: One person man each of the lift extensions/foot brackets with a 3/8 drive socket wrench and 15mm 12 point bit. Work together to counting out sets of 10 x 180 degree cranks. This is to ensure that the loud-speaker cabinet is lifted on a level plane. Always make sure that as lift is being cranked that the bearing is moving in concert with the bolt. Always make sure that the foot is not turning with the bearing, as this will damage the foot and the floor. NOTE: It is important to take a step back after every (3) sets of (10) 180 degree cranks to ensure that the loud-speaker is still level with the floor. If not, jack the appropriate side to compensate. STEP 6: Once the Jacking bolt heads bottom out against the Q7 lift foot brackets, remove the caster and replace each with a Q7 foot assembly. Before the Q7 foot assemblies are installed, the two pieces should be separated so there is approximately ¼ of space between the base and top piece. NOTE: This can be adjusted after the loudspeaker is lowered with the supplied spanners in the accessory kit. STEP 7: Reverse steps (5-1) to remove the lift from below the loud-speaker cabinet. WARNING/DISCLAIMER: Never place hands underneath speaker without someone holding the speaker steady. There should always be a spotter who is not actually helping lift the speaker. Never attempt to tilt speaker by hand. Never crank the bolts at a speed that rocks the speaker, with gentle cranks the speaker will rise smoothly and safely. 10

SPEAKER PLACEMENT AND POSITIONING THE MAGICO Q7 LOUDSPEAKERS ARE PRECISION INSTRUMENTS FOR MUSIC REPRODUCTION. AS SUCH, PROPER CARE AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL WHEN SETTING UP THESE SPEAKERS WILL YIELD THE MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE, REGARDLESS OF THE PARTICULAR ROOM. FOLLOWING THESE SET- UP GUIDELINES WILL ENSURE THE SPEAKERS ARE PROPERLY POSITIONED TO DELIVER THE OPTIMUM LISTENING EXPERIENCE. ALL THAT IS REQUIRED IS A TAPE MEASURE, A PEN, A CALCULATOR, A BALL OF STRING, A COUPLE OF DEMO CDS, AND SOME PATIENCE. PLACEMENT Q7s IN RELATION TO BACK AND SIDE WALLS BEFORE YOU BEGIN: LOOK FOR OBVIOUS IMPEDIMENTS INCLUDING ANYTHING THAT COULD IMPEDE OR DIMINISH THE SOUND E.G., OTHER SPEAKERS, AMPLIFIERS, EQUIPMENT RACKS, ANYTHING ON THE WALL THAT COULD CAUSE A REFLECTION, A SEVERE MISMATCH IN QUALITY AMONG INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS, AND UNNECESSARY OR POORLY RUN SPEAKER/INTERCONNECT CABLES. BASS DISTANCE FROM REAR WALL THE INITIAL PLACEMENT SHOULD BE APPROXIMATELY 20 INCHES (1/2 M) FROM THE BACK OF THE LOUDSPEAKER TO THE BACK WALL. SINCE WE HAVE SHORT AUDITORY MEMORY, THE SELECTED DEMO MUSIC CUT SHOULD BE BRIEF 30 SECONDS 1 MINUTE MAX. IT SHOULD BE A WELL RECORDED JAZZ CUT WITH GOOD BASS GUITAR OR PERCUSSION. WHAT WE ARE LISTENING FOR AT THIS TIME IS THE DEFINITION OF THE BASS AND THE RIGHT SENSE OF PROPORTION. NEXT, MOVE THE SPEAKER 6 8 INCHES (15 20 CM) FORWARD AND REPEAT THE LISTENING PROCESS. REPEAT THIS PROCESS, MOVING THE LOUDSPEAKER FORWARD IN 6 8 INCH (15-20 CM) INCREMENTS. WHEN YOU REACH THE POINT FROM WHICH MOVING THE SPEAKER FORWARD SOUNDS WORSE THAN THE PREVIOUS LISTENING POINT, MOVE THE LOUDSPEAKER BACK TO THIS POSITION AND MARK THIS DISTANCE FROM THE REAR WALL. MIDRANGE PLACEMENT IN RELATION TO SIDE WALLS FOR LATERAL PLACEMENT, BEGIN BY DIVIDING THE ROOM WIDTH BY 14. INITIAL PLACEMENT OF THE LOUDSPEAKERS WILL BE AT 3 AND 11. THE DISTANCE FROM THE LOUDSPEAKER TO THE EARS HAS TO BE PRECISELY EQUAL. THIS MEASUREMENT IS CRITICAL. THE MUSIC FOR THIS PROCESS SHOULD BE A FEMALE VOICE AND PIANO. WE ARE LISTENING FOR THE IMAGE OF HER VOICE TO BE FOCUSED. THE RULE FOR THE TOE-IN IS TO PICK A POINT APPROXIMATELY 1 2 FEET (½ M) BEHIND THE LISTENER S HEAD. TOE THE LOUDSPEAKERS IN TO 11

INTERSECT AT THAT POINT. IF THE SOUND IS TOO BRIGHT, TOE THE SPEAKERS OUT A LITTLE MORE. IF THE SOUND IS TOO DULL, TOE THE SPEAKERS IN A LITTLE MORE. REPEAT THE ABOVE PROCESS WITH THE LOUDSPEAKERS AT THE 4 AND 10 POSITION. THEN REPEAT, ONCE AGAIN WITH THE SPEAKERS AT THE 5 AND 9 POSITION. SUMMARY ONCE THE INITIAL PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED, RETURN TO THE BASS SET-UP TO ENSURE THAT THE LOUDSPEAKERS ARE THE PROPER DISTANCE FROM THE BACK WALL. WHEN THE PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED, MARK THE SPEAKER LOCATION WITH TAPE SO THAT THE SPEAKERS CAN BE RETURNED THERE FOR FURTHER LISTENING. POSITIONING Q7s IN RELATION TO THE LISTENER THE SPEAKERS AND THE LISTENER SHOULD FORM AN ISOSCELES TRIANGLE. THE LISTENER SHOULD BE EXACTLY EQUIDISTANT BETWEEN THE TWO LOUDSPEAKERS. THE BEST WAY TO DETERMINE THIS IS WITH A PIECE OF STRING. PICK A FIXED SPOT AT THE LISTENING POSITION. RUN THE STRING FROM THIS SPOT TO THE FRONT OF THE TWEETER OF THE LEFT SPEAKER. REPEAT THE PROCESS FOR THE RIGHT SPEAKER. IT IS CRITICALLY IMPORTANT TO KEEP THIS DISTANCE PRECISELY THE SAME. CONNECTIONS CONNECTIONS SHOULD BE MADE WITH ALL ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT (AMPLIFIERS, PREAMPLIFIERS) TURNED OFF. THERE ARE TWO TERMINALS AT THE BACK OF THE SPEAKER. THE TERMINALS ARE INSULATED TO ACCEPT A VARIETY OF CABLE TERMINATIONS FOR MOST APPLICATIONS AND TO PREVENT ANY LIKELIHOOD OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK, EVEN WHEN THE SPEAKERS ARE USED WITH THE HIGHEST POWERED AMPLIFIERS. DO NOT USE TOOLS TO TIGHTEN THE BINDING POSTS. BREAK-IN A LOUDSPEAKER IS A MECHANICAL DEVICE AND AS SUCH REQUIRES AN EXTENDED INITIAL PERIOD OF NORMAL USE DURING WHICH A NOTICEABLE IMPROVEMENT IN SOUND QUALITY WILL OCCUR. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE THE BREAK-IN PROCESS BY PLAYING SINE WAVES, TONE SWEEPS, BREAK-IN CDS OF ANY SORT, OR OTHER GENERATED SIGNALS. 12

CARE: FOR ALUMINUM PANELS USE A LINT-FREE SOFT CLOTH (PROVIDED IN ACCESSORY KIT), DAMPENED ONLY WITH WARM, SLIGHTLY SOAPY WATER (A SMALL DROP OF DISH SOAP WILL DO). DO NOT USE CLEANERS THAT CONTAIN AMMONIA, STRONG SOLVENTS, OR ABRASIVE MATERIALS. USE OF THESE CLEANERS CAN DEGRADE, SCRATCH, OR DESTROY THE FINISH.
