NOTE: Installation is made easier with the removal of all 4 wheels. Disconnect LH and RH tail lamp wire harness. Refer to Figure 2. Tools Required: Slotted Screw Driver, Exhaust Pipe Cutter 7mm Socket & Ratchet, T15 Torx Bit, Drill & 1/4" Drill Bit, Wood Block, Plastic Rivet Installation Tool and Masking Tape. Misc Items Required: 3M Cleaner (3M Part Number 08984) Soft Cloths Vehicle Cleaning Detergent NOTE: Before starting the installation, check that the vehicle has not been fitted with a GM performance exhaust accessory that has chrome tips. If this is the case this kit cannot be installed. FIGURE 2 NOTE: This is a two person install. For best results, vehicle should be free of damage (dents, scuffs, creases, fractures, scratches, etc) 5. Remove wheel arch bolt using 7mm socket. 1 per side. Retain. Refer to Figure 3. Rear Fascia Assembly Removal: 1. Remove contents from the box and check for any damage. Verify all parts against the parts list. 2. Carefully read and understand instructions and components completely before beginning installation. NOTE: Prepare a location to set aside the rear fascia for later use. 6. Remove wheel liner screws using a T15 Torx bit. 3 per side, retain. Refer to Figure 4. 10. Using slotted screw driver, unsnap diffuser from fascia. 11. Remove 6 U nuts using slotted screw driver, retain 4 of 6. Discard rear diffuser. Refer to Figures 7a and 7b. FIGURE 7A FIGURE 4 7. Carefully support the top of the rear fascia and remove rearwards to avoid fascia damage. Retain rear fascia. Production Rear Diffuser Removal: 8. Remove 6 screws using 7mm socket, retain 4 of 6. Refer to Figure 5. FIGURE 7B FIGURE 5 9. Unsnap impact absorber from fascia (4 snaps). Refer to Figures 6a and 6b. 12. Snap impact absorber into fascia. Refer to step 9. NOTE: Step 13-14 are not required if the vehicle has been fitted with the ground effect specific accessory sports exhaust kit. This kit does not have chrome tips. 13. Wrap the Exhaust template around the exhaust tip ensuring the edges are aligned. Align the template with the pipe joint at the rear of the muffler and transfer the rear edge of the template onto the exhaust tip, cutoff and debur exhaust tips. Refer to Figure 8. 14. Position the exhaust cap on the end of the exhaust, place a block of wood over the end and use a hammer to knock the cap onto the exhaust until the cap contacts the inner exhaust pipe. Refer to Figure 9. 19. Place LH and RH tail lamp access covers into position, and fasten with scrivets. Refer to Step 3. Rear Diffuser Attachment: 20. Using wheel well brackets as a template, drill (2) 1/4" holes into rear fascia. Refer to Figure 11. NOTE: The lower hole is a clearence hole to assist in rivet installation in Step 31. FIGURE 9 Camaro Rear Diffuser Blackout tape 15. Clean the area, remove the backing, position the step in the tape alongside the retaining clip opening and apply the tape following the vehicle fascia contour. Refer to Figure 10. Purpose: Eliminates visible body color between the diffuser and the bezel, and ensures a uniform appearance. FIGURE 11 21. Snap off top locating tab. (Both LH and RH). Refer to Figure 12. IMPORTANT: Do not install the brackets at this time. FIGURE 10 Rear Fascia Assembly Attachment: NOTE: Refer to bulletin 09-08-51-005 to avoid rear fascia to quarter panel interference and paint chipping. 16. Reattach entire rear fascia except the 3 wheel liner screws per side from step 6. 17. Connect LH and RH tail lamp wire harness. Refer to step 4. 18. Attach wheel arch bolt. Refer to step 5. Torque to 17ft-lb. (1.92 Nm.) IMPORTANT: Ensure that the wheel liner is properly located in front of the attachment flange of the rear fascia before securing the wheel arch bolts. Warning: Improper cleaning of vehicle surfaces will result in part adhesion failure. Complete this next step thoroughly. NOTE: Do not use petroleum based cleaning products. If a strong cleaner is required use 3M general purpose cleaner (P/N 08984). Tape will not adhere to a surface with residue left from petroleum based cleaning products. 22. Wash entire rear of vehicle with warm soapy water. Rinse and dry. 23. Clean entire rear of fascia with 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner (PN # 08984) to remove any oil based and visible contaminants. It may be necessary to use several clean cloths to prevent spreading or smearing of contaminants across vehicle. Let dry. 24. Wipe highlighted region of vehicle with provided alcohol wipes. Let dry. Refer to Figure 13. 27. Install rear diffuser by aligning the snaps located outboard of the exhaust bezels into the factory fascia. 28. Align the rear diffuser center styling line with the center styling line on the vehicle fascia. Temperararily use masking tape to hold the deffuser in position on the fascia. 29. Insert wheel well bracket between fascia and diffuser. Refer to Figure 16. FIGURE 13 FIGURE 16 25. Attach tape leader tabs to the outside of the part using masking tape. Refer to Figure 14. 30. Using rivets, attach the wheel well bracket to the vehicle. Refer to Figure 17. FIGURE 14 26. Attach U nut (from Step 11) to 4 middle brackets. Put aside. Refer to Figure 15. 31. Using rivets, attach the rear diffuser to the wheel well bracket. Clearance hole drilled instep 20 will assist. Refer to Figure 18. FIGURE 19B FIGURE 18 32. Attach wheel liner screws. Torque to 12ft lb. (1.35 Nm). Refer to Step 6. Warning: The next step can only be completed once. After tape has adhered to the production fascia, it cannot be removed without causing permanent damage. Use caution. 33. Align the rear diffuser center styling line with the center styling line on the vehicle fascia. Maintain through to Step 36. 34. At the center of the fascia measure 26mm up from the lower radius and mark the position with tape (1) Figure 19a. Position the diffuser against the tape. Again ensure the styling lines on the diffuser and fascia are aligned. 35. Measure the distance between the diffuser and the styling line on the fascia on both sides (2) of the vehicle to ensure the diffuser is level. 36. With the rear diffuser, aligned per Steps 34 and 35. Remove the center left tape tab (3) and wet out from the center to outboard applying 15 ft-lb. of pressure, remove the center right tape and repeat (4). Repeat on the dog leg tapes (5) and the side tapes (6). From the center wet out over the length of the cladding. Refer to Figure 19a and Figure 19b. Warning: Improper wet out of tape will result in part adhesion failure. Be sure to wet out to 15 lbs. NOTE: It is essential that tape fully adhere to the production fascia. Full cure time is 24 hours at room temperature but initial bond is adequate if all parts have been installed between 16 degrees and 40 degrees Celsius. 37. Loosely attach 4 middle brackets to impact absorber using screws (from Step 8). Refer to Figure 20. 2 FIGURE 20 38. Tighten 4 screws using 7mm socket (from Step 33). Torque to 2.125 ft-lb. (2.88 N.m). NOTE: Ensure all rear lighting functions are operational. NOTE: Do not use car wash for 24 hrs or drive vehicle for 4 hours after installation. Camaro Rocker Cladding Parts List Item Description Qty 1 LH rocker cladding 1 2 RH rocker cladding 1 3 Plastic retention clip 36 4. Open vehicle doors when removing original cladding from vehicle. 5. Using trim tool remove all remaining plastic clips from vehicle. 6. Remove 4 U nuts from original cladding. Keep for use in Step 7-8. Refer to Figures 22a and 22b. Tools required: T15 Torx Screw driver and Trim Tool. For best results, vehicle should be free of damage (dents, scuffs, creases, fractures, scratches, etc.). 1. Remove contents from the box and check for any damage. Verify all parts against the parts list. 2. Carefully read and understand instructions and components completely before beginning installation. 3. (Left hand side) Remove 2 screws from the front and 2 screws from the rear wheel well using T15 Torx screw driver. Keep for use in Step 14. Refer to Figures 21a and 21b. FIGURE 22A FIGURE 22B 7. Insert 1 U nut onto front rocker cladding lower hole. Repeat on other side. Refer to Figure 23. FIGURE 21A FIGURE 23 8. Insert 1 U nut onto rear wheel liner lower hole. Repeat on other side. 9. Insert supplied plastic retention clips into rocker molding cladding (18 per side). Refer to Figure 25. 12. Starting at the front, engage plastic retention clips into mating holes along entire top edge of rocker cladding. Refer to Figure 25. 13. Align plastic retention clips into mating holes along entire bottom of rocker cladding. Once all plastic retention clips are aligned snaps into mating holes, refer to Figure 25. 14. Insert 4 screws from Step 3 into front and rear wheel well hole locations. Torque 12in-lb. (1.35 Nm). Refer to figure 28a and 28b. FIGURE 25 10. With the door open, line up the front of the rocker cladding to the inside of the front wheel liner. The rocker cladding will go between the wheel liner and the sheet metal. Refer to Figure 26. Line up the rear of the rocker cladding to the outside of the rear wheel liner. Refer to Figure 27. 15. Repeat steps for right hand side. Attach tape pull tabs to the outside of the part using masking tape. Refer to Figure 30 (V8 has tape in positions 2 and 4 only). This prevents the tape liner pull tab from being trapped between the part and the fascia. FIGURE 30 5. Insert U nut onto hinge in wheel well of front cladding - 1 per side. Refer to Figure 31. Miscellaneous items: 3M cleaner Soft cloths Vehicle cleaning detergent Note: This is a two person install. For best results, vehicle should be clean, dry and free of damage (dents, scuffs, creases, fractures, scratches, etc). 1. Remove contents from the box and check for any damage. Verify all parts against the parts list. Verify part is for V8 or V6. V6 has tape at positions 1, 2, 3, 4 and V8 has tape only at positions 2 and 4. See Figure 30. 2. Carefully read and understand instructions and components completely before beginning installation. 3. Use a 1 1/4' (33mm) hole saw to drill 2 holes in the cladding, at the positions marked by the 2 forward cross hairs on the underside of the cladding. Refer to Figure 29. Important: Drilling holes in wrong location will permanently damage the part. Use caution. FIGURE 31 6. Remove Plastic bolt and nut from air dam and discard. 1 per side. Refer to Figure 32. 7. On outside of fascia, use the locating features of the passenger side clamp to align the clamp with the center styling line of the fascia, and the feature line of the fascia. Hold V of nose tight against the fascia and tape the clamp in position. Refer to Figure 33 and 34. NOTE: Steps 12-13 are for V8 vehicle only. For V6 vehicles, skip to Step 14. 12. Align template, tape to vehicle fascia, mark the 2 hole locations using centre punch, remove template, and drill (2) 3/16" holes into vehicle fascia. Repeat on other side. Refer to Figure 36. Important: Drilling holes in wrong location will permanently damage the part. Use caution. FIGURE 33 8. Position the driver side clamp against the end of the passengers side clamp with the locating features located against the feature line of the fascia, tape the clamp in position. Refer to Figure 34. FIGURE 36 13. Fasten clamp to fascia using 2 aluminum rivets. 1 per side. Refer to Figure 37. FIGURE 34 9. Drill (9) 3/16 inch holes into vehicle fascia, using the holes in the clamp, as a guide (V8 has 6 holes). ON V8 ONLY: Drill (7) 3/16 inch holes through dimples on part, into fascia (some parts may have holes instead of dimples). 10. Fasten both clamps to vehicle fascia using the 9 aluminum rivets (V8 has 13 rivets). 11. Snap off the 6 locating tabs from both clamps, and remove tape. Refer to Figure 35. FIGURE 35 FIGURE 37 Warning: Improper cleaning of vehicle surfaces will result in part adhesion failure. Complete this next step thoroughly. NOTE: Do not use petroleum based cleaning products. If a strong cleaner is required use 3M general purpose cleaner (P/N 08984). Tape will not adhere as well to a surface with residue left from petroleum based cleaning products. 14. Wash fascia area near wheel wells, where the tape will adhere, with warm soapy water. Rinse and dry (see cross hatched area in Figure 38). 15. Clean fascia area near wheel wells, where the tape will adhere, with 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner (P/N 08984) to remove any oil based and visible contaminants. 16. Wipe highlighted region of vehicle with provided alcohol wipe. Let dry. 1 per side. Refer to Figure 38. 21. Insert screw into location of U nut in wheel well. 1 per side.torque to 6 ft-lb. (8.13 N.m). Refer to Figure 41. FIGURE 38 17. Place the cladding onto the vehicle fascia and ensure the center styling line of the fascia and the cladding are aligned. Maintain the alignment through to Step 20. 18. Starting at nose and working to wheel well, slide edge of cladding between clamp and fascia. Push cladding tight to vehicle while engaging and snapping to the clamps. 19. Use the 8 cross hairs on the rear edge of the cladding as a guide, drill 1/4" holes through the cladding and vehicle fascia. Refer to Figure 39. FIGURE 41 Warning: The next step can only be completed once. After tape has adhered to the production fascia, it cannot be removed without causing permanent damage. Use caution. 22. Push fascia extension tight to nose and push gap out while sliding hand around to first tape liner pull tab. Remove the Inboard tape tab and wet out from the center to the outboard using 15ftlb of pressure against the cladding. Remove the outboard tape and repeat. Refer to Figures 42a and 42b. FIGURE 42A FIGURE 39 20. Fasten cladding to facia using 8 plastic rivets. Refer to Figure 40. FIGURE 42B Warning: Improper wet out of tape will result in part adhesion failure. Be sure to wet out to 15 ft-lb. NOTE: It is essential that tape fully adhere to the vehicle fascia.
