Thank you for purchasing the enclosed PMP retrofit display. This display is designed and manufactured by PMP as a replacement for the Gilbarco Monochrome QVGA Display (M02636A001). The kit includes: (1) LCD (4) Locking Supports (4) #8-32 Thread Forming Screws (4) M4 x 10mm machine screws (1) Adapter plate for EPP applications The Gilbarco monochrome display is used in a number of applications. Depending on your situation, the installation procedure may differ. This guide addresses the three most common upgrades to Advantage and Encore dispensers. Please note: upgrades from older fluorescent backlit displays (Q13287-01) will require PMP Adapter Kit #62071 or equivalent READ THIS GUIDE BEFORE YOU BEGIN Dispensers have both electricity and hazardous, flammable and potentially explosive liquid. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE Only a person with knowledge and experience with gasoline dispensing equipment should perform this work. Barricade the work area with your truck and / or other appropriate means. Always make sure ALL power to the dispenser is turned OFF before you open the dispenser cabinet for maintenance. Physically lock and tag out the circuit breakers energizing the dispenser following OSHA guidelines. Note that more than one disconnect switch may be required to de-energize the dispenser for maintenance and servicing. Use a voltmeter to make sure ALL circuits in the dispenser are deenergized. Failure to do so may result in serious injury. Know how and where to turn OFF power to the submersible pumps in case of emergency. Observe precautions for handling electrostatic sensitive devices and avoid ESD.
❶ Installation in Advantage dispensers This installation outlines the process for replacing an older fluorescent backlit display in an Advantage dispenser. If you are replacing a newer display, some of these steps may not apply to your situation. Adapter Kit #62071 is required for this installation. Begin the installation by opening the dispenser and removing the existing display: Power down the dispenser Power down the Crind Disconnect the data and backlight cables Remove the fluorescent tube to avoid breakage Remove the 2 screws holding the display in place and remove the display Advantage Dispenser Figure 1 - Remove the old display (Q13287-01 by removing the 2 screws shown (fluorescent bulb has been removed for clarity) Figure 2 Mount the Adapter Bracket Reminder: make sure the clear polycarbonate window is in place prior to mounting the Adapter Bracket. Mount the Display Bracket provided in Adapter Kit #62071. Additional #8 hex-head thread forming screws have been provided for your convenience. Locate the 4 Locking Standoffs included with the display Press the Locking Support into the 4 mounting holes in the Display Bezel Figure 3 Install the 4 Locking Supports in the mounting holes in the display bezel.
Ensure the latches are engaged and the Locking Supports are firmly in-place Figure 2 - Be sure to orient the Locking Supports as shown Figure 5 Engage the latching feature. Note: The display was shipped with a protective film over the display. Be sure to remove the protective film prior to mounting. Hold the display with the large connector on the bottom facing you. Align the Locking supports with the mating holes on the Adapter Bracket. Apply enough pressure to engage the Supports. You may feel a snap as the Locking Supports engage. Figure 5 Left side Figure 6 Right side Wiggle the display to ensure the Locking Supports are firmly seated in the Adapter Bracket Re-attach the data and backlight cables Set the DIP switch to the proper position for the correct display orientation (see illustration below).

Verify the switch is set to the proper setting for correct display orientation. ❷ Installation in Advantage dispensers with Encrypted Pin Pads (EPP) This procedure assumes that you will be replacing a newer style (M02636A001) display. If upgrading from an older fluorescent display, refer to step 1. Begin the installation by removing the existing display: Power down the dispenser Power down the Crind Disconnect the data and backlight cables Remove the 4 screws holding the display in-place and remove (see Figure 4). Remove the 3 screws holding the OEM Display Bracket and remove (see Figure 5). Mount the Display Bracket provided using three screws. Additional #8 thread forming screws have been provided for your convenience. Note the two tabs that will be used to mount the new display Note: The display was shipped with a protective film over the display. Be sure to remove the protective film prior to mounting. Figure 10 - Note mounting tabs Line up the display so the slots at the edge of the bezel mate with the tabs on the Adapter bracket. Slide the display to the right, over the tabs. Secure the display with two screws on the left side of the display. Additional #8 hex-head thread forming screws have been provided for your convenience. Re-attach the data and backlight cables Set the DIP switch to the proper position for the correct display orientation (see illustration below). ❸ Installation in Encore dispensers (Encore 500 shown) Begin the installation by opening the dispenser and removing the existing display: Power down the dispenser Power down the Crind Disconnect the data and backlight cables Remove the 4 screws shown to remove the old display. Line up the display so the slots at the edge of the bezel mate with the screws just installed. Slide the display to the right until you feel the screws reach the detents in the slots. Gently push the display a little harder to the right until the screws pass through the detents. Install two M4 screws on the left side of the display to secure the display in-place. Note: you may need to remove the Rain Shield to access the mounting tabs. Re-connect the data and backlight connectors Set the DIP switch to the proper position for the correct display orientation (see illustration below). Special note regarding Encore 500S dispensers: There are different generations of Encore 500S dispensers. Displays in newer units mount directly to the the door. Some older units will have a sheetmetal bracket which the display mounts (see Figure14). These applications may require a longer cable to stretch across the back of the display. We have included a cable to replace the the OEM CRIND Soft Key cable (M06092A002) if required. ❹ Power up the Crind/Dispenser Power up the Crind and then the dispenser. Check the display operation and orientation. Check for optimal contrast adjustment. Adjust the contrast as necessary. Note: the contrast adjustment method will vary depending on the dispenser type. Refer to the dispenser manual for detailed instructions. If the orientation is wrong, set the DIP switch to the proper position. You must cycle the power to the dispenser for the changes to take effect. Figure 14 - Older Encore 500S with metal bezel. You may need to replace the highlighted cable Troubleshooting / FAQ I want (or do not want) the PMP logo to appear during the dispenser start-up Switch position #2 on S1 is used to determine whether or not the logo appears. o Down position logo will display o Up position logo will not display The image on the display is upside down The PMP Gilbarco Monochrome display is designed to work with Advantage and Encore dispensers. Check to be sure switch S1 is set to the proper orientation for your application. You may also choose whether or not the PMP logo appears during start-up.
