Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) and Low NOx Engine Incentives

What is HVIP? Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project and Low NOx Engine Incentives Simplified incentive program that helps ALL fleets buy hybrid and battery-electric trucks and buses. Low-NOx natural gas engines are also incentivized in repowers, trucks, and buses through separate funding Addresses biggest barrier: high incremental cost of vehicles in early market years Program funded by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) under its Air Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) Everything is done easily and online: www.californiahvip.org administered by CALSTART together with Tetra Tech

How is it set up? Vouchers are targeted to offset about 80% the incremental cost of hybrid and electric trucks and buses For low-nox engines, vouchers cover the incremental cost relative to standard natural gas engines Up to $110,000 available in funding PER VEHICLE Over $21 million available this fiscal year Up to 200 vehicles available per organization per year administered by CALSTART together with Tetra Tech

HVIP is Simple! No burden on fleets: The dealer does almost everything No grants or proposal writing No lengthy application forms No long waits to be reimbursed First come, first served Everything is done easily and online. Helps fleets buy cleaner trucks and buses faster. administered by CALSTART together with Tetra Tech

How HVIP Works Fleet decides to place order for qualifying vehicle (using a registered dealer) When order is placed, dealer requests a voucher for each qualifying vehicle in fleet order Help for public fleets: Public agency fleets may reserve vouchers when they start their RFP/procurement process; a voucher is set aside for when order is placed When vehicles are delivered, fleet pays for cost of vehicle MINUS voucher amount Dealer is paid for voucher when vehicle is registered administered by CALSTART together with Tetra Tech

Some HVIP Eligible Electric Vehicles (Vouchers eligible for extra $5K for fleet s first three vehicles) Orange EV voucher: up to $110,000 BYD electric bus voucher: up to $110,000 Zenith voucher: up to $55,000 Proterra electric bus voucher: up to $110,000 administered by CALSTART together with Tetra Tech.
