AB-6219-U Specifications/Instructions Insertion Temperature/Humidity/ Dewpoint temperature Sensor HTY78X3/HY78X3/HTY78X6/HY78X6/HY79X3 General The insertion type HTY78X3/78X6 Temperature/Humidity sensors and HY79X3 Dewpoint temperature sensors are designed to be installed in return air chambers or air handling units to monitor humidity and temperature levels and provide a proportional output for use in heating, ventilating and air conditioning control systems. They are also designed for use in ventilated shields to provide humidity and temperature information for meteorological instrumentation. The sensors use a Pt100 platinum film temperature sensing element for temperature measurement and a polymer capacitive film humidity sensing element (FP3) for humidity measurement. The FP3 have been specifically developed by Yamatake to ensure highly accurate and reliable measurement of space conditions over time. Models are available with two sensors housed in one unit to sense both humidity and temperature (HTY78X3/78X6), a humidity sensor only for just humidity measurement (HY78X3/78X6) or dewpoint temperature sensor only for dewpoint temperature measurent(hy79x3). Make sure that the temperature and humidity elements are entirely immersed in the airstream, and that air can pass over the sensor head. 3) Allow adequate clearance in front of the cover for servicing the sensor. 4) When installing in a steam heating air handling unit, make sure the sensor head is not directly exposed to the steam. The operating conditions for the sensor may be exceeded. 5) Prevent condensation on the sensor head when inserting the sensor head into the airstream. Measurment errors may occur until the condensation is dried. CAUTION Do not use the unit as a step. Mounting sensor to the duct 1) Prepare the mounting bracket in advance. Attach the mounting template to the duct at the chosen sensor mounting position. Cut a hole (1.26 ) in the duct at the point indicated on the template. Mount the bracket to the duct with M4 screws, inserting the gasket between the duct and the mounting bracket before inserting the screws. Cover the duct with insulating material. (NOTE : If you cover the duct with an insulating material first, fill the clearance between the bracket and the duct with the insulating material after the bracket is mounted.) the grooves in the mounting bracket attached to the duct. Secure the sensor to the duct mouting bracket by rotating the mounting lever 45to positions (2) as shown below. Wiring 45 (2) (1) Stopper Claw 1) Remove the cover.screw the threaded seal connector into the case and pull the wiring cable through it. Wiring Instructions Shielded multi-wire cables with 16 or 12 AWG (1.25 mm² or 2 mm²) must be used. Be sure to ground the shielded cable on the controller side. If you don't need a splash-proof installation, standard 16 or 12 AWG (1.25 mm² or 2 mm²) wire may be used for power and a 16 AWG (1.25 mm²) shielded cable for humidity and temperature signals. The maximum cable length is 327 ft (100 m). Never connect power supply leads to the temperature output terminals. Always check wiring before applying power. Use a dedicated 24V AC transformer for power. Never share 24 V AC transformer with other products. Seal connector 2) Connect the wires to the wiring terminals and close the cover. Tighten the seal connector only after the wiring has been connected to the wiring terminals. Use a dedicated 24V AC transformer of humidity Sensor CAUTION Use a dedicated insulated transformer to supply 24 V AC power supply voltage Never share 24 V AC power supply with other equipment. If a transformer is shared with other equipment, a loop may be formed at common and the sensor may be damaged. If using the sensor with another manufacture s controller, follow these instructions to prevent an induction current flowing from the humidity sensor to the controller input circuit, or to prevent excessive noise due to a different controller time constant. Use a controller with a low pass filter having a removal ratio of 40dB or higher (normal mode). Connect an isolator to the controller input circuit if a removal ratio is unknown. Maintenance The temperature and humidity sensor have been factory calibrated and need no adjustments prior to installation. However, to maintain proper operation the equipment should be inspected periodically : 1) Periodical inspection The equipment should be inspected for build-up of duct and dirt that may affect the sensor performance. Regularly check the sensor s accuracy and condition of it. 2) Troubleshooting If any problem occurs during operation, refer to the following troubleshooting guide (below) for appropriate solutions. Troubleshooting Problem Check Action - No output generated - Unstable output - Check for loose wiring connection - Check for Incorrect wiring - Check supply voltage - Check sensor for damage - Reconnect the wire - Replace sensor - Slow response - Error in output - Check the sensor for water leakage or condensation - Check the installed location - Check for dust, soil build-up. - Tum off the power - Remove the sensor from the mounting bracket. Dry the unit. - Refer to the Installation instructions - Clean filter - Replace filter - Humidity one point adjustment - Replace sensor 3) Replacing the filter: (1) Prepare filter set (order separately) in advance. Remove the filter cap and filter as shown below. Loosen Filter cap (The cap will remove with the filter inside.) (2) Cover the sensor with the new filter and then put the new filter cap over it. Filter cap (3) Tighten the filter cap. 4) Humidity one point adjustment If you find a calibration error in the humidity sensor during the periodic inspections, re-calibrate the sensor using the adjustment volume (VR1, VR2) located on the circuit board. The output value is increased by turning it this volume in clockwise direction and decreased by turning counterclockwise. A humidity sensor with higher accuracy than the Yamatake sensor should be used as a reference. A digital multimeter is recommended to check the output voltage. After unpacking, condition the sensor in the ambient atmosphere for at last 24 hours before using the output for control. 2.
