A Customer Newsletter ClimaCab Today CLIMACAB I NEWS I SERVICE I SALES I E V E N T S 3% Idle Time & No More Jump Starts Fleets across the nation are reporting single digit idle times after installing the ClimaCab no-idle HVAC system. To keep fuel expenses down and maintain driver comfort, National Distributors Leasing, Inc. decided to add ClimaCab electric APU systems and is glad it did. He s pleased with ClimaCab s performance and added, It s been a dependable, well accepted solution. As far as I m concerned, once ClimaCab is installed, there s no excuse to idle. Mesilla Valley Transport (MVT) was an early adopter of ClimaCab and saw the system as a key strategy in its quest to become the EPA It s been a dependable, well accepted solution. As far as I m concerned, once ClimaCab is installed, there s no excuse to idle. Andy Ness, Director of Maintenance for National Distributors Leasing (NDL), stated, On trucks that have the ClimaCab system installed, our idle time is only 3%. It s pretty simple those trucks don t idle. He went on to explain: We ve determined that about 25% fleet-wide idle time is about as far as you can go with monitoring and incentives alone. SmartWay Carrier of the Year and the most fuel efficient fleet in the country. Before purchasing the product for its fleet, MVT conducted a real-world field test to evaluate ClimaCab performance. On a 100 Texas day sitting in full sunlight, ClimaCab reduced the cab temperature to 65 in under an hour and maintained that temperature for the duration of the test. Fleets already experiencing the ClimaCab Difference Royal Jones, President and CEO of MVT, said, We like ClimaCab better because it does what it says it s going to do. I would recommend Cont. on page 2

3% Idle Time & No More Jump Starts (Continued from page 1) ClimaCab to anyone. After running ClimaCab on their fleet all summer long, MVT now reports 5% idle time on ClimaCab-equipped trucks. We really liked its cooling performance, and after a long, hot summer are amazed at the low idle times we hit. It really reinforces the fact we made the right decision, noted Allen Gattis, Director of Shop Operations. As we head into the winter season, ClimaCab s Start Assist feature will continue to drive savings home for fleets. Start Assist will jump start a truck if the battery dies, and as Royal Jones from MVT explains, Start Assist is a savings on its own. A jump start can cost up to $500, excluding downtime, but with ClimaCab the expense and hassle is eliminated. NDL s Andy Ness agrees: Jump starts are a huge issue. ClimaCab s Start Assist recharges the truck s battery quickly and effectively. It s a cool feature and it works. He concludes by saying, If you look at what you are doing now and just do a little math, it doesn t take long to figure out that ClimaCab makes sense. Do yourself a favor; install it. You ll be pleasantly surprised. ClimaCab Performance Guarantee To our valued customer: Glacier Bay, Inc. appreciates your consideration of the ClimaCab System. We are so confident in ClimaCab s performance that we are offering the following guarantee: Glacier Bay, Inc. officially guarantees ClimaCab will meet the stringent requirements of the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Recommended Practice (RP) 432. Ambient temperature = 100 F Factory installed curtains closed Initial sleeper temperature = 73 F +/- 5 F Maintain maximum sleeper temperature of 78 F for 10 hours At the end of the specified time, there will be enough battery power to restart the engine Through July 2010 Glacier Bay will buy back any ClimaCab A/C system, including Odyssey batteries, which fails to meet the TMC RP 432 specifications. Thank you for your interest in ClimaCab. Please know our primary goal is customer satisfaction through quality products and support. Sincerely, Jay Parr Vice President & General Manager

NEWS ClimaCab Keeps its Cool in Independent 100 + Paint Booth Tests Potential customers are constantly devising devilish torture tests to challenge ClimaCab s performance. The results are in: ClimaCab maintains its cool in extreme temperatures. Border International in El Paso, TX put ClimaCab to the test. They chose a 2006 Freightliner Columbia with a standard insulation package and tested the system in a local paint booth. The paint booth was stabilized at 101 F The sleeper was pre-cooled, with the curtains closed, to 69 F The sleeper temperature held true at 72 F After 11 hours the test was halted Based on battery voltage, ClimaCab would have continued performing at 72 F for another 6+ hours Sleeper Temperature (Actual) Sleeper Temperature (Average) Sleeper Temperature (Projected) AUX Battery Voltage (Actual) AUX Battery Voltage (Predicted) An independent Mississippi-based fleet also put ClimaCab to the test. They chose a 2008 Freightliner Cascadia with a standard insulation package and tested it in a local paint booth. The booth temperature varied from 101-107 F The sleeper was pre-cooled, with the curtains closed, to 60 F The sleeper temperature held true at 72 F After 9 hours the truck was moved outside into 90 F After running 31+ hours, the system automatically shut down & still had plenty of energy remaining to jump start the truck battery Isn t it time you Experience the ClimaCab Difference?

No-Idle Comparison Results Are In Sky Transportation Improves Efficiency with ClimaCab NEWS Texas-based trucking fleet Sky Transportation adopts the ClimaCab electric APU to improve fleet efficiency while maintaining high standards of driver comfort. Sky tested electric and diesel APUs over the past year and has determined that the ClimaCab system outperforms the competition. Ricardo De La Rosa, Sky Transportation s Administrative, Maintenance & Service Manager, noted the company is now spending less on diesel fuel for trucks using ClimaCab systems than with trucks using diesel APUs. We really like the capability of recharging the batteries without purchasing the fuel a diesel APU uses. That was a huge plus. We also like the longer run times. We were getting 4-6 hour run times with a competitor, but with ClimaCab we are up to 14 hours. De La Rosa also explained how they discovered hidden savings using ClimaCab: With a diesel APU you never know what your operating cost will be. You may be paying $2.64 for diesel now, but you might pay $3.50 months from now. Operating costs constantly fluctuate with the price of diesel. With ClimaCab, you purchase batteries up front at a fixed cost and you never have to worry about diesel price changes. The ClimaCab Difference... Prospective customers often ask: Why does ClimaCab run longer and cool better than other electric systems? This isn t always easy to answer, and the response can often be very technical and overwhelming. So, here is a simplified version of what our engineers would tell you. ClimaCab runs longer because its intelligent power management system maximizes the amount of energy available to the system while minimizing the system s energy usage. The Power Management Module s (PMM) battery charging profile has been optimized for use with AGM batteries, ensuring maximum energy is stored and available to run Clima- Cab. In fact, the Odyssey battery company is so impressed with the PMM s performance, they warranty batteries used in Clima- Cab systems for four years at full replacement value. Another key aspect of ClimaCab s intelligent power management is its control of the compressor and fan speeds. Unlike most A/C systems that are either On or Off and have a 3-speed fan (low, medium, high), the Clima- Cab system is infinitely variable. The compressor, the evaporator fans, and the condenser fans can all operate independently at a range of speeds from Off to Full Power. The system takes into account ambient temperature, sun load, and system set point, then assures that ClimaCab will meet the user s A/C requirements while consuming the minimum amount of electrical energy. Additionally, ClimaCab s A/C outperforms the competition High efficiency parallel flow micro-channel heat exchangers due to smart design choices made by the Glacier Bay engineering team. Three elements of the A/C system depart from what other companies use and contribute to the overall superior performance. First, both the evaporator and condenser use high efficiency parallel flow micro-channel heat exchangers instead of the more common tube and fin design. Second, the system employs a tube in tube internal heat exchanger which dramatically improves the system s sub-cooling. Lastly, ClimaCab s design is continually improved and uses a higher efficiency compressor than its competitors. What does all this mean? ClimaCab delivers unparalleled cooling that runs longer than the competition.
