Step 1: Move the shift lever to the rearmost position. Grasp the edges of the trim surrounding the shifter, where it meets the shift boot and pull straight up to detach. Pull it up and out of the way to expose the Torx screws shown in the next step. If the trim won t release easily, use a plastic trim removal tool and pry carefully around the edges. Step 2: Using the included T20 Torx bit remove the two screws at the front of the button cluster. Be careful not to let the screws fall into the shifter recess. Set the screws aside in a safe place. 4 5
Step 3: Lift up the front of the button cluster enough to expose the connectors below. Make sure the key is in the off position. 1. Disconnect the ESP and any other button harnesses by depressing the tab on the left side of the connector and pulling downward. Put some downward pressure on the button top while doing so to prevent it from moving upward and possibly dislodging its retaining clips. 2. Detach the harness support. You may want to pry it loose with a small flat head screw driver. 3. Disconnect the 12v power socket by depressing the tab on the connector and pulling downward. 4. Pull the center tray assembly up and outward from its recess and set it aside for now. 6 1 2 3 7
Step 4: Carefully pry around the edges of the top vent cover using a plastic trim tool and remove. Step 5: Remove the T20 Torx screws. The panel pivots on the front edge. Firmly pull up on the back side and pull the panel out, towards the windshield. 8 9
Step 6: Remove the two T20 Torx screws. Pry along the back edge with the trim tool, while pulling up to release the back edge of the upper, front panel. Step 7: Pry upwards with the trim tool above the radio on the right side and on the left side to release the upper front panel. Step 8: Remove the two T20 Torx screws above the radio. 10 11
The clips securing the lower front trim panel are fragile so take extra care during removal. Step 9: Carefully pry between the radio and trim on the left and right side to release the clips. Then pry on the outside edge of the trim, starting at the top, alternating between the left and right sides, until you reach the bottom and release the panel. Step 10: Remove the four T20 Torx screws securing the radio. 12 13
Step 11: Slide out the radio and remove the main wire harness. Pull out the lever release on the bottom of the connector. Remove the two antenna cables by pulling out the tab on the bottom. Step 12: If your vehicle is equipped with the blue connector, release it by depressing the tab and pulling outward. Snap in the white connector on the included wire harness. Drop the other end of the harness through the opening behind the radio, into the center console recess. Place the radio in it s installed location but do not fully reinstall yet. Please note: The blue connector contains the wires for the factory CD changer, satellite radio, and ipod dock if equipped. If you want to maintain the functionality of these the wires can be swapped to the new harness using a pin removal tool. 14 15
Step 13: Remove the middle blank in the button cluster where you want to install the Aux Port and snap the Aux Port into place. Step 14: On the new wire harness there is a triangle marking on one side of the connector. Align this end of the connector with the pin on the Aux Port marked by the yellow circle in the photo and push firmly into place. Step 15: Place the center tray in the installed location but before final reinstall connect your audio source to the Aux Port and make sure everything is working correctly. Pressing the CD button should switch the radio source to the Aux Port. If it does not see the next step. 16 17
Step 11: If you are installing an Aux input for the first time you may have to update the radio settings using a Ross Tech VCDS or VW scan tool. 1. Go to the 56-Radio Control Module 2. Go to Coding-07 3. Change the last digit of the Software Coding to a 1. 4. Now pressing the CD button on the radio should switch to the Aux input. Step 12: Reinstall the radio and center console tray and you re done! 18 19
