CUSTOMER SERVICE A total of 513 YARTS customer inquiry calls were received in the VIA YARTS offices during the period from July 1-30, 2016. A comprehensive log of incoming calls by type, including calls regarding customer complaints, commendations, and recommendations is maintained and monitored continually. Count on All Calls 207 Calls received on schedule issues and questions for Hwy 140 Corridor

All operational issues have been addressed and rectified so they can be avoided in the future. The main complaints are as follows: 07/01/16 Received several calls from passengers at Fresno State who said they were unaware YARTS no longer picked up at the Shaw and Barton location. Fresno Operations Manager spoke to riders and informed them of alternate stops. 07/04/16 Received an email and call from employee and passenger concerned that driver, who was a manager filling in for the run, intentionally did not stop at The Majestic on Run 6/14. Also concerned that driver did not back correctly into the Yosemite Valley Lodge and claimed driver hit trees and the curb. Follow up with the manager/driver showed the driver admitted to have missed The Majestic stop. Most runs do not go to the stop when dropping if no passengers are disembarking. The driver totally forgot that people also board at the stop on runs 6/14 at the same time drops are made. This stop was not skipped intentionally; it was an honest oversight in treating the stop as a requested stop. Driver has made that correction for future reference. Driver suggested that the employee feel comfortable reminding drivers if they missed something on the spot. There was a 15-minute break at the Lodge and the driver could have been informed and would have returned to the stop or called over to see if passengers were waiting. As for backing into the Lodge, the driver missed the point of reference for backing into the Lodge spot due to excessive glare on the windshield and not focusing on the landmark used to spot. However the driver did not hit the trees or curbs. Driver got out of the bus as trained to view position, then pulled forward to the curb and proceeded to adjust the lighting producing the glare so the run could be safely continued. 07/20/16 Received an email from a passenger saying they had missed the bus because it did not back into the Yosemite Valley Lodge and go to the stop. Because it was a white bus with a YARTS sign the passenger said they didn t notice the bus. Follow up showed that the driver did back into the stop and announced outside several times, including right before departure, that they were YARTS. Driver picked up several passengers from the stop as well. 07/20/16 YARTS received a post on Face book from a passengers asking why YARTS update had not been posted informing them of Run 5 being late. The run was late leaving Amtrak due to a delayed train. Operations knew the train was going to be slightly late, however

the driver was further delayed loading passengers and luggage. The driver did not inform Operations of the additional delay and therefore YARTS was not informed so they could follow up with posting the information. Driver was new and was informed of proper procedures. Operations was directed to always follow up with the driver as well to make sure of the timing for continuing the route, and inform YARTS immediately of delays. 07/21/16 Motorist called saying drivers were taking up 2 lanes on part of the road leaving Yosemite. Informed the motorist that because of the tight curves at some points leaving the valley, it was necessary and legal for commercial vehicles to take up two lanes in order to avoid hitting the mountain. Once clear buses will get back into their lane to allow cars to pass. 07/28/16 Customer called and the bus did not stop in Catheys Valley. The passenger saw run 10, which ends in Mariposa. Customer said she knew the bus didn t stop but thought he should have for her since she needed to go to Planada. Informed her of next bus arrival times. Wheel Chair Requests There were three (3) wheelchair requests filled for the month of July 1-31, 2016. There have been regular unannounced wheelchair riders on various YARTS runs. Twenty (20) wheelchair buses (YARTS owned and VIA supplemental fleet) are available to accommodate YARTS passengers on all corridors in accordance with ADA guidelines. Cal-Trans, Traffic & Construction Delays There were 5-minute to 2-hour delays on all routes throughout the month on separate runs on all corridors due to construction, traffic congestion, non-yarts traffic accidents, road conditions, and 4 th of July holiday parades, detours, and events. Sonora Service Hwy 120 ran 3 buses daily for the month of July 1-31, 2016 and will continue to run daily through August 31, 2016. Mammoth Service Hwy 120/395 East Mammoth ran 2 buses daily for the month of July 1-31, 2016 and will continue to run daily through August 31, 2016. Hwy 140 and Hwy 41 Service Both Hwy 140 and Hwy 41 service ran daily for the month of July 1-31, 2016.
