PS SERIES & EVD-ice THE PERFECT COMBINATION The BUFFALO TRIDENT PS Series Evaporator factory fitted with EVD-ice superheat control provides the contractor with a plug and play package. Factory fitting the EEV driver, Ultracap and pre-wiring to all components including fans, removes on site costs for parts & labour. In many installations, a liquid line solenoid is no longer required as the EVD-ice will regulate the EEV with an on/off signal from the room temperature control. In the event of a power failure the Ultracap will discharge power to the EEV coil and drive the valve closed, preventing floodback to the refrigeration plant. Commissioning costs are reduced with the factory programmed control (adjustment can be made on site), and the proven accuracy and performance of the EVD-ice provides a reduction in pull down time for room temperature and product, resulting in energy savings for the end user. SYSTEM BENEFITS Ease of installation: EVD-ice can be connected easily to a cold room thermostat for regulation on / off signal and alarm (available on next release of Ultracella control). EVD-ice can also be connected to a supervisory system for monitoring (real time operating conditions, alarms, messages). Easy commissioning: Quick and easy start up with two parameters. Thanks to the user friendly interface the installer can easily set refrigerant type and electronic superheat (ktd) (avoiding recalibration). Advanced commissioning is available in a second level menu (MOP, LOP etc). Ultracap module: The Ultracap will discharge when power is lost driving the EEV closed. The Ultracap module is totally sealed thanks to overmolding technology. It is simple to fix onto and connect to the EVD-ice, and can be connected through IP65 connectors to the EVD-ice compatible model. The new Ultracap module integrates high tech capacitors and an integrated intelligent charging process enhancing the capacitors life time and power back-up reliability. THE SPECIFIC FEATURES INCLUDE: // Fast commissioning: user friendly interface for fast setup on site, or RS485 serial communication available for advanced settings supervisory systems (Modbus protocol) // IP65 rated thanks to overmolding plastic technology. The electronic board is completely sealed, including sensors and cable connectors. Operating condition: -30 C to 40 C // Integrated package design to operate in cold storage applications // Internal power supply 230V / 115V - no additional transformer to power on the electronic driver // Software features based on Carel EVD evo: all Carel experience in EEV regulation inside // Compatible with a number of refrigerants including: R22, R134a, R404A R407A, R407C, R407F R410A, R417A, R422A, R422D R423A, R427A, R245Fa R507A PLUG & PLAY SOLUTION 3 HX-514-2 AUS
ENERGY SAVING COMPARATIVE TEST: EEV vs TEV A field test was set up to analyse the operational performance between an EEV and TEV. The below diagram indicates the installation. The system automatically switches from EEV to TEV each 3 days. Energy consumption (kwh) is measured in both cases considering all cold room loads. The below graph provides the results. Application: Low temperature cold room 90m 3 for meat storage (set -20 C) Evaporator: 5.5kW, heater defrost 3PH 5kW, 4 fans 200W 1PH Condensing unit: 5.5kW Refrigerant: R404a S1 Solenoid valve EEV EEV Evaporator Cold room P Refrigerant > S2 Solenoid valve TEV TEV T > Thanks to EEV, compressor duty cycle on time is lower - this means an effective energy saving for the system. // Food quality maintained thanks to extremely short temperature pull down times // Optimal evaporator efficiency thanks to precise refrigerant flow control // Ultimate energy saving with EEV, floating suction and condensing pressure ENERGY SAVING RESULTS European winter (November 2014 > February 2015) TEV > 6800KWh EEV > 4900KWh Saved 1900 kwh One year energy saving (summer / winter) from 15% to 20% HX-514-2 AUS 4
