EP FOR ON-STATION USE: EUTELSAT 16C AND KA-SAT EUTELSAT 16C (SESAT-1) SESAT-1 (Siberian European SATellite) was manufactured by Russian ISS-Reshetnev (former NPO-PM) and derived from Express family. Payload manufactured by TAS (former Alcatel) Launched in April 2000 on Proton K-BlockDM direct to GEO Electric Propulsion System used for orbital acquisition, NSSK, EWSK and relocation. Designed for a nominal lifetime of 10 years, after 17 years EUTELSAT 16 C is still working properly as expected To be deorbited next January 2018 Ka-Sat KA-SAT was manufactured by Airbus D&S based on Eurostar 3000 platform Launched in December 2010 on Proton Breeze M and released in GTO Electric Propulsion System used for NSSK, orbit inclination and eccentricity control Designed for a nominal lifetime of 15 years, after 7 years Ka-Sat is performing fully according to specifications EPIC Workshop October 24-25, 2017 - Madrid 6
A NEW DAWN FOR EP IN COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS What makes Electric Propulsion proposition attractive for Electric Orbit Raising (EOR)? P (KW) 1 In the last decades, the installed power on Telecom GEO platform has been continuously growing. LAUNCH COST ( /KG) EP ATTRACTIVE FOR EOR! 2 New launch service providers have renewed competition in the launcher market driving down the launch costs 3 Necessary conditions created for EP to become an attractive value proposition also for EOR TIME EP Value for EOR: Further Reduction of the Cost per Transponder On Orbit! As consequence, new design of telecom platforms, with Electric Propulsion with primary functions are now proposed by all major spacecraft manufacturers EPIC Workshop October 24-25, 2017 - Madrid 7
