Preparation & Installation Tips 1. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS IN THEIR ENTIRETY BEFORE YOU PROCEED. 2. Before removing the seats from the vehicle, confirm that the seats are lowered to their lowest position. They will need to be in their lowest position to access the bolts that attach the seat cushion sub frame to the motorized seat frame assembly. 3. Check for damaged or missing hardware, knobs and switches. Order replacement parts as needed. See page 118 of the SOR catalog. 4. Compare the retainer wires to the seams and loops to determine their position. Do not install them at this time. 5. It is not advisable to install this kit in temperatures under 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Lay the covers in the sun to warm them. 6. Work in a clean environment. Keep your work surface clear of debris such as cut hog rings. Use an old blanket or towel on your work surface to prevent damage to your new seat covers during the installation process. Avoid transferring grease from mechanical seat parts to the covers by way of your hands by covering those parts with cloth or plastic sheets. Keeping your hands clean will help to keep your new covers clean. Part I Front Seat Disassembly 1. Unplug the connector, then unbolt the seats and remove them from your vehicle. 2. Remove the plastic covers on each side of the seat located at the hinge point. Each cover has 3 small Phillips head screws holding it together (see figure 1-2). 3. Remove the seat adjustment switch knobs and cover plate. Gently work a bladed screw driver behind each knob and pry them free. Cover the blade of the screwdriver with tape to prevent marring the surface. Pry off the cover plate (see figure 1-3). 4. Remove the side bolster adjustment knob (see figure 1-4 & 1-4B). 5. Remove the seat back cover panel. Remove the two small screws located at the bottom of the panel (see figure 1-5). Slide the panel down. You may need to reach behind the panel and unclip it from the seat. Figure 1-2 Figure 1-3 Figure 1-4 Figure 1-4B 6. Separate both seat wire harness plugs from the seat frame by pulling them forward towards the front of the seat off their perch. Disconnect the remaining plug (see figure 1-6). 7. Separate the cushion and sub frame from the seat frame assembly. Remove the four 12mm bolts holding the sub frame in place. Two are located in front on the bottom and two are located on the side under the hinge plate and accessed through holes in the plate (see figure 1-7 & 1-7B). You will need to disconnect the seat belt switch plug to access the one on the seat belt side of the seat. Figure 1-5 Figure 1-6 Figure 1-7 Figure 1-7B Page 3

Figure 2-1 Figure 2-1C Figure 2-3 Figure 2-4 Figure 2-5 Figure 2-1B Figure 2-4B Figure 2-5B Part II Front Seat Cushion Cover Installation 1. Remove the existing seat cover. Clip the old hog rings from the bottom of the seat frame (see figure 2-1). Pry the metal tab free (see figure 2-1B) and unfold the plastic edges. Make relief cuts in if needed. Clip the hog rings free from their mounting points from the top side of the seat (see figure 2-1C). 2. Remove the old seat cushion. 3. Place the new cushion into a trash bag so a single layer of plastic covers the cushion (see figure 2-3). Place the new cushion into the steel sub frame. Tuck the edges between the foam and seat frame. The plastic sheet will work as a slip sheet and aid in reducing friction between the inside surface of the cover and the seat foam. 4. Turn the cover inside out. Insert a retainer wires through the loops in the center of the bottom side of the cover (figure 2-4). The wire should extend through the loop leaving excess evenly on both ends. Cut slits in the slip sheet mentioned in the previous step to allow the loop and retainer wire to easily pass through (figure 2-4B). 5. Position the seat cover over the cushion and frame making sure it is properly oriented front to back. The loop and wire installed in the previous step should align with the slots in the cushion. The opening for the seat controls should align with the switch panel. Push the loops and wires through the slit in the slip sheet into the slots in the seat cushion (see figures 2-5 and 2-5B). You will need to access them from the bottom of the seat. 6. Starting at the front of the cushion, roll the cover over the cushion turning it right side out over the cushion. Make sure to keep the seams aligned with the edges of the cushion. 7. Place the seat top side down on a soft surface to prevent damage to the new cover. From the bottom side of the seat, pull the cover tight by pushing down on the frame while pulling up on the edges of the cover. Pull the wire reinforced loops completely through (see figure 2-7). Recheck the seat cover alignment. Recheck the position of the opening for the seat control switch panel. Figure 2-7 Page 4

8. Fold the heavy plastic edging of the seat cover back under the frame (figure 2-8). Bend the retainer tabs over to hold them in place. Double check fit and alignment. 9. Connect the cover and cushion to the frame assembly. Begin with three wire loops you passed through the cushion in step 5. Clamp hog rings around the retainer wires and vinyl to a convenient point on the steel S shaped springs (see figure 2-9). Be sure to check fit and alignment smoothing wrinkles as you work the cover into position. 10. Connect the flaps located at the center of the each side of the seat. Pull each flap around to the bottom of the seat and attach it with one hog ring to hold it in position (see figure 2-10). Don t overs stretch the flap. Note these are the only hog ringed pieces of vinyl that do not have wire re-enforcement. Make sure the flaps hide the foam and frame by test fitting the pieces on either side of them. 11. Locate the seat frame mounting holes near the back of the frame. Make a reference mark on the foam using a dark marker (Sharpie). You will be covering these holes. Having a reference mark will aid in locating them later. Make sure the mark is outside the edge of the vinyl once it is pulled into position (see figure 2-11). 12. Insert retainer wire into the outer seams of the cover. Clamp hog rings around the retainer wire through the vinyl to the steel S shaped springs (see figure 2-12). Part III Front Seat Backrest Cover Installation 1. Remove the existing cover from the backrest. As you did with the seat cushion, clip the seams with scissors and cut the old hog rings free with the wire cutters (see figure 3-1). Exercise caution to avoid damaging the backrest foam. Figure 2-8 Figure 2-10 Figure 2-11 Figure 2-12 Figure 2-9 2. From behind the seat, reach into the cavity at the top and feel for the base of the headrest guide (see figure 3-2). Pinch the two prongs together (see figure 3-2B) and push the guide out through the top of the seat while pulling with the other hand (see figure 3-2C). Figure 3-1 Figure 3-2 Figure 3-2B Figure 3-2C Page 5

3. Pull a small kitchen trash bag over the backrest (see figure 3-3). You may need to temporarily tape it in place. The bag will aid in reducing friction between the inside surface of the vinyl and the foam. Figure 3-3 Figure 3-4 Figure 3-5 Figure 3-5B Figure 3-5C 4. There are two sets of loops; two horizontal and two vertical loops located in the middle of the inside surface of the seat cover. As you did with the seat cushion, insert retainer wires through the loops. The wire should extend all the way through the loops. The loops should align with the slots in the backrest foam (see figure 3-4). 5. Pull the cover over the backrest into position. While the top of the cover remains in position, pull the bottom inside out back to the top to reveal the anchor loops. Beginning with the upper horizontal loop, use hog rings to connect the cover to the embedded steel rod in the backrest (see figure 3-5). Repeat the process for the other horizontal connection (see figure 3-5B) then connect the two side loops. Carefully pull the cover free of the side of the backrest to access the side connecting points (see figure 3-5C). 6. Pull the cover back into position (see figure 3-6). Tuck the bottom seam under the backrest and through to the back. From the back of the seat, pull the cover tight to check fit and alignment (see figure 3-6B). 7. Thread retainer wires through the seams that surround the opening in the back of the seat. Pull the seat cover tight and connect the upper wire reenforced seam to the horizontal rod at the top of the opening (see figure 3-7). Check fit and alignment. Next, do the sides, pulling them tight and attaching them to the corresponding steel rods. Last, do the bottom seam pulling it into position and connecting it using hog rings (see figure 3-7B). Figure 3-6 Figure 3-6B Figure 3-7 Figure 3-7B Page 6

Part IV Reassemble the Front Seat 1. Begin with the seat back panel. Slide the panel up into position and replace the screws at the bottom (figure 4-1). 2. Snap the control panel backing plate into position and replace the switch knobs. 3. Replace the side bolster adjustment knob. Feel for the splined post on the side of the seat. Cut a small hole, just large enough for the knob post to pass though. No larger than 3/4 inch diameter (2 Centimeters) (figure 4-3). The hole needs to be large enough that the knob doesn t bind when it being turned. It s very important not to cut the hole too large. 4. Install the seat cushion. You will need to cut the vinyl clear of the rear bolt holes. Locate the bolt hole in the sides of the frame. Use the reference marks you made in Part II step 11 and feel for the hole through vinyl. Once located, poke a pin or Awl through the center for confirmation. Use sharp blade to cut a circle out around the hole (see figure 4-4). Use the bold shaft as your reference and cut away enough to let the bolt pass through (see figure 4-4B). It s very important not to cut the hole too large. Bolt the cushion back into position. 5. Reconnect the seat belt switch plug. 6. Reconnect the seat harness plug and slide it back onto its perch. Slide the connector to the main harness back onto its perch. 7. Reinstall the headrest guides. Start by locating and marking the headrest guide holes in the top of the seat back. Feel for the ring of the top of the guide tube with your finger (figure 4-7) and use a ball point pen to mark a small X across the center. 8. Hold the stem of the guide up to the mark to get an idea of how long to make the cuts. Be careful not to over cut the vinyl, it s better to undercut and adjust it if needed. Cut the X with a sharp utility knife or scissors (figure 4-8). You may need to cut away the excess fabric from around the hole. 9. The guide with catch button is put in the hole near the door of vehicle and the button faces the outside of the vehicle. Push the guide through the hole until it snaps into place (figure 4-9). 10. Reinstall the seats. Figure 4-1 Figure 4-3 Figure 4-4 Figure 4-7 Figure 4-8 Figure 4-4B Figure 4-9 Page 7
