protection against vandalism The growing demand of protection of lifts in unguarded public areas against acts of vandalism has lead CEN (European Committee for Standardization) to issue the harmonized norm, which defines the testing methodology and the classification of lifts in terms of vandal-resistance. Throughout this standard the significant hazards, safety requirements and protective measures, signs and markings, landing door security system, alarm sounder requirements are addressed when discussing vandal resistant lifts. Potential hazards control: accessibility and surveillance to control crushing, shearing, cutting, trapping, impact hazard, electrical and thermal hazard, human behaviour etc Safety requirements and/or protective measures: special attention to well enclosure, machinery spaces, pulley spaces and machinery cabinets, landing and car doors, car, panels and signalization, alarms sounders, steel works, signs and markings. Verification of safety requirements and /or protective measures. Information for use including instructions relating to maintenance, periodic checks and rescue operations, guidance to the owner and to the maintenance company. At IMEM LIFTS we believe that the best complete MRL gearless lift range on the market must combine great value with maximum efficiency. Our whole range of Silens-Pro lifts, from 300 to 4000Kg rated load capacity, can comply with the BREEAM criteria. Our experience and know-how as designers and manufacturers of all kinds of lifts since 1968 enable us to accurately analyse each building s transport and traffic patterns, and so determine the number and size of lifts and the counterbalancing ratio appropriate to its particular passenger demand characteristics. Our expert team of designers calculates the energy consumption levels of each possible solution so that we choose the system with the lowest energy consumption best-suited to the project. When the lift car is unoccupied by passengers, the lighting switches off automatically so that the lifts operate in stand-by mode during off-peak and idle periods. Our superbly efficient gearless motors use a drive controller capable of operating at variable speeds, variable voltages and variable frequencies. Our EcoSaver system recovers the energy generated by the lift and feeds it straight back into the building s power supply. Our cars are equipped with energyefficient LED lighting. 21
