ERDF LINKY PROGRAM The rollout of smart meters in France 02/11/2015

ERDF The main French DSO Electricity distribution is a regulated activity, overseen by the French Energy Regulatory Commission(CRE). Our public service mission: continuity and quality of service with a nondiscriminatory access to the network, regardless of the electricity supplier.

ERDF : key figures ERDF manages the public electricity distribution network for 95% of continental France 1.3 1.3 millions millions Km Km 1.3 Power million Power lines lines Km Power Lines 35 millions 35 million Connected Connected Customers Customers 329,000 Renewable Energy Generation Units Connected 11 million Customer Interventions / Year 450,000 New Customers / Year 38,000 Employees 1,045 Local Offices 13.3 billion Turnover 3.5 billion EBITDA 698,000 Net Income 3

Main issues of the Linky Program Industrial issues Political issues Acceptance Cybersecurity and data protection HR and Change management 5

The roll out of smart meters: benefits for the community Benefits for consumers Benefits for Local Authorities Benefits for Public Service in France (cost optimization, productivity) 6

Perimeter of the smart metering program Linky, a new generation of meters Linky is based upon features from the electronic meter and is equiped with 7 new major functions. Linky is able to receive instructions and to send data without any direct intervention from field teams. Software Linky, the new smart meter Clock Electronic Meter (1992) PLC Modem 8 Managing Contacts Room for Radio Module Breaker Encryption 7

Network topology and technology to be deployed More than a meter, Linky is a complete system The smart metering system is a communicating platform which takes advantage of the low voltage network Electric devices in home meter Lowvoltage network PLC (1) Secondary substation data concentrator Main characteristics 1. Bi-directional communication (to and from the meter) GPRS 2. Scalable each component can be upgraded separately backward compatibility approach suppliers Linky IS 3. Interoperable exchangeable equipments, standardized protocols of communication (1) Power line communication carries data on the existing power line grid

APPENDIX 11

Perimeter of the smart metering program Linky is a fundamental brick to develop «Smart Grids» Linky meter is at the junction between the customers and the distribution network. Distribution network Inhome network Solar power generation Water heater Electric heating Eolic power generation Smart meter Storage Electric vehicle Recharging terminal for electric vehicle Domestic appliance 12

Linky offers new services to all consumers Improve the daily services 1. Invoices based on actual consumption. 2. A majority of operations performed remotely in less than 24 hours without the presence of the customers (eg: automated meter readings, etc.). 3. Reduced time of intervention in case of incident on the grid. Contribute to the Energy Transition 4. Integration of new applications (electric vehicle, renewable energy,...) 5. A secure access to information to monitor and understand consumption. 6. Manage domestic appliance thanks to the 8 control signals. 7. A simple tool to enable the management of the peak load. 13

Linky contributes to optimizing the network management 1. Better fault identification and localization on low and medium voltage networks ensuring faster interventions. 2. Detailed monitoring of the power quality to better manage customer complaints and to provide a faster answer. 3. Increased capacity to act remotely on the networks, in particular to manage peak shaving programs. 4. New tools to forecast constraints on the network (balance between production and consumption) on local areas and diverse time scales. 5. Reinforced observation and control capabilities to maintain the proper voltage level and to optimize the location of renewable production sites / recharging terminal. 14

A secure, easy and free access to data consumption for the consumers Linky meter will help consumers to save energy, mainly by giving them easier access to information about their usage. Load Profile : a graphic representation of the consumer electric consumption Upon request, customers will have an access to their load profile. Customers can monitor their consumption (on monthly/weekly/daily/hourly basis), can compare their consumption with similar households and can be alerted in case of excessive consumption. According to the guidelines of the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL), load profile can not be less than 10 minutes. Consumer s data protection are guaranteed. A secure and easy acces to ERDF s customer portal : www.erdf.fr/linky ww.erdf.fr/link y 15

Network topology and technology to be deployed (Route A or B) Load control services Wireless solutions between the meter and the HAN Solve problems of distance : one meter over two is not inside the home Open the possibility of a direct communication link between the meter and a wide range of devices.
