The Century Class S/T is available in both day cab and sleeper configurations. Everything about the Century Class S/T was designed to increase efficiency. The aerodynamic hood decreases drag, helps improve fuel economy and increases visibility. The specially designed and tested grille increases airflow and optimizes cooling efficiency. Strong, lightweight components in the hood and fenders reduce overall weight of the cab, allowing for increased payload capacity. Yet, for all its technological advances, driver safety was not overlooked. The Century Class S/T maintains the distinction of being the first North American Class 8 truck cab to meet or exceed rigorous Swedish and European ECE R-29 crash test requirements. And, of course, it comes standard with anti-lock brakes, driver-side airbag, first aid kit and fire extinguisher. The two-piece curved windshield reduces replacement costs and assures great visibility. Large convex mirrors enhance peripheral vision. Available sun visor shown. Composite headlights provide better light distribution over the surface of the road, and easy front access allows tool-free replacement with standard-size bulbs. The Century Class S/T features a stylish painted or chrome grille. The aerodynamic three-piece bumper features a steel center section and damage-tolerant plastic end caps to help localize collision damage and reduce repair costs.

EPA 07 Compliant Power System Heavy-Duty After-Treatment Device Mounting Configuration For On-Highway Use The EPA 07 compliant power system features an exhaust after-treatment device that breaks down soot and captures ash in a diesel particulate filter. This device is mounted under the chassis and replaces the muffler assembly. Servicing simply entails cleaning or exchanging the filter and would be performed by a technician at a service shop in combination with other scheduled maintenance. Service is required no more often than every 150,000 miles or 6,000 hours of service. Engine All 2007 engines must comply with stringent emissions regulations to lower the levels of nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. The new engines run on ultra low sulfur diesel fuel and use low ash engine oil. After-Treatment Device This double walled device captures soot and ash. Soot is broken down through regeneration. Ash remains trapped in a section of the ATD known as the diesel particulate filter. Regeneration Soot is broken down through a process known as regeneration. This process takes place inside the ATD, two different ways; Passively and Actively. Passive regeneration is an ongoing process that happens as the truck is operated and the internal temperatures of the ATD are high enough to break the soot down. An active regeneration requires even higher internal temperatures in the ATD, breaking down soot through oxidation. The additional heat required is achieved by either passing diesel fuel through the diesel oxidation catalyst on a Detroit Diesel or Mercedes-Benz engine or with the Caterpillar Regeneration System on a Caterpillar engine. Exhaust System All EPA 07 compliant configurations feature stainless steel exhaust piping. Cooling System and Radiator Engine cooling is more efficient thanks to a high capacity cooling system and an engine-mounted radiator. Cooling System & Radiator Engine After-Treatment Device Exhaust System A 455 horsepower Detroit Diesel Series 60 EGR engine comes standard. The reliable and lightweight MBE 4000 from Mercedes-Benz is available. The available Caterpillar C13 engine with ACERT technology provides horsepower up to 470 hp. Caterpillar C15 engine with ACERT technology is available in 435 to 500 horsepower. Freightliner s industry-first rack and pinion steering system, available with spring or front air suspensions, is responsive and provides tight control. The wheel wells and chassis geometry allow a tight wheel cut of up to 50 degrees for greater maneuverability. The optional Freightliner AirLiner front suspension is a quantum leap in engineering technology, offering reduced weight with improved comfort, stability, handling and maintenance intervals.

Powerful performance mile after smooth, quiet mile. The Century Class S/T, with its sleek modern look on the outside, also features innovations in efficiency on the inside. Advanced noise reduction technology throughout the cab creates a quieter interior on the road and at rest. The front and rear cab mounting system is specifically tuned to reduce road vibration and improve ride. The available Freightliner AirLiner front and rear suspension assemblies minimize road vibration and improve handling and stability. The Century Class S/T is available with engine choices from Mercedes- Benz, Detroit Diesel and Caterpillar, with horsepower ratings from 350 hp to 500 hp. All engines meet strict EPA 07 emissions standards that require engines built in 2007 and beyond to burn cleaner and dramatically reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. Along with cleaner burning engines, a number of design changes have been made to improve performance. A high-capacity engine cooling system cools more efficiently, and a new turbocharger design adds responsiveness while reducing the amount of fuel required for acceleration. In addition, the radiator has been mounted to the engine to alleviate movement between the engine and radiator and to cool the engine more quickly.

The Century Class S/T driving environment includes the latest technological advances designed to increase efficiency, performance and safety. The Driver Message Center keeps the driver continually apprised of performance information to help maximize fuel economy. Electronically controlled gauges show clear and reliable operational information. The ergonomic wrap-around dash puts controls at the driver s fingertips so adjustments can be made quickly and safely. To keep the driver comfortable and alert, the Century Class S/T is available with Freightliner s ergonomic EzyRider seat, featuring lateral and lumbar support, state-of-the-art suspension technology and numerous adjustment options. The Driver Message Center provides timely, easyto-understand information about the vehicle s operation including fuel economy, outside temperature, equipment faults, fluid levels, trip time, miles driven and idle hours. An advanced HVAC system maximizes airflow and keeps cab temperature precise and comfortable. An air filtration system purifies the air and keeps it flowing through the system s 17 outlets. The available in-dash entertainment system features a multi-band AM/FM/WB, with CB mounting in the overhead console. Freightliner s spacious cab provides ample legroom and easy-to-reach controls. It s as close to home on the road as a person can get. The road is a stressful environment, so the cab was created with the professional driver in mind. With a spacious interior, loads of storage space and insulated floor and walls to keep outside noise to a minimum, the Century Class S/T helps keep the driver operating at peak performance. The Mid-Roof or Raised Roof SleeperCab configurations feature under-bunk storage, a pull-out desk and a separate control panel. There s also space for adding a refrigerator, television or premium stereo system. With amenities like this, drivers will start the day refreshed, energized and ready to meet the road ahead. Permanently wired to the standard electrical outlets in the sleeper, the available, factory installed Xantrex heavy-duty inverter/charger converts 12-volt DC current to 120-volt AC current, allowing use of standard household appliances while protecting the truck s battery supply. Modular cabinetry allows for easy customization with numerous configurations possible. Many interior packages are available. Choose from vinyl or durable cloth upholstery. On double-bunk configurations, the upper bunk stows away for maximum roominess.

The hood opens a full 90 degrees to make engine access easier, and seethrough fluid reservoirs allow instant checking of fluid levels. Splash shields are mounted on the hood rather than the chassis for easy access to the engine. The Century Class S/T features composite headlights that provide better light distribution and significantly improve night visibility. The top photo shows light distribution of traditional 7-inch round sealed headlights, while the bottom photo shows the view with composite headlights.

Built on a simple idea: A truck on the road is a truck making money. The forward under-hood splash shields provide excellent protection of the engine compartment from splash, spray, debris and fender star cracking from rocks. Mounted on the hood, the inner-fenders move out of the service technician s way, reducing maintenance time and cost. The self-adjusting clutch reduces maintenance costs, while the maintenance-free rubber bushings require no lubrication. Improved technology also keeps service times to a minimum. The Century Class S/T is equipped with a Data Logging Unit that records information such as throttle position, road speed, engine parameters and clutch and brake status before and after a fault for future retrieval and diagnosis by a technician. Freightliner s ServicePro software helps technicians diagnose problems quickly and accurately, so the vehicle spends more time on the road and less time in the shop.
