T-SB-0069-08 Rev1 May 21, 2008 Page 4 of 8 Repair Procedure 1. Connect TIS Techstream to the vehicle and perform a Health Check to check for any DTC(s) and the current ECM (PCM) calibration ID. Are there any DTC(s) present in the ECM (PCM)? YES This TSB does NOT apply. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) and diagnose DTC(s). NO Go to step 2. 2. Does the current calibration ID match one of the previous calibration IDs above? YES Go to step 3. NO This TSB does NOT apply. Refer to TIS and diagnose the vibration. Figure 1. Health Check Results on Techstream
T-SB-0069-08 Rev1 May 21, 2008 Page 5 of 8 Repair Procedure (Continued) 3. Test drive the vehicle between 35 45 mph (56 72 km/h) in 5th gear under light acceleration to confirm the customer concern of vibration. Is the vibration duplicated under these conditions? YES Go to step 4. NO This TSB does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis to determine the root cause of the vibration. 4. Use Techstream to take a snapshot when the vibration is occurring to confirm it is related to this TSB and not other issues (wheel balance, tire wear, etc.). Configure snapshot as follows: 30 Second Duration Trigger Point at Midpoint (50%) Refer to the University of Toyota online training class P901C Techstream InDepth for information about taking snapshots and graphing snapshots on Techstream. 5. Use Data List and the graphing functions of the Snapshot feature to confirm the following data parameters when the vibration condition occurs: Vehicle Speed Shift Status Lock Up Lock Up Solenoid Status

Techstream Snapshot of Vibration Occurring Between 35 45 mph (56 72 km/h) If the vibration occurs with the following parameters: Lock Up OFF Lock Up Solenoid Status ON Then the vibration is related to ECM (PCM) calibration. Go to step 6. If the vibration occurs with the following parameters: Lock Up OFF Lock Up Solenoid Status OFF Then the vibration is NOT related to ECM (PCM) calibration and this TSB DOES NOT APPLY. Continue diagnosis to determine the root cause of the vibration.

T-SB-0069-08 Rev1 May 21, 2008 Page 8 of 8 Repair Procedure (Continued) 7. Flash Reprogram the ECM (PCM). The GR8 Battery Diagnostic Station MUST be used in Power Supply Mode to maintain battery voltage at 13.5 volts while flash reprogramming the vehicle. For details on how to use the GR8 Battery Diagnostic Station, refer to the GR8 Instruction Manual located on the Technical Information System (TIS), Diagnostics Battery. Follow the procedures outlined in TSB No. SS002-07, Techstream ECU Flash Reprogramming Procedure, and flash the ECM (PCM) with the NEW calibration file update. 8. Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature before test driving. 9. Test drive the vehicle to confirm proper vehicle operation and ECM (PCM) initial learning. Refer to TIS: 2007 / 2008 / 2009 model year Camry Repair Manual, Drivetrain Automatic Transmission/Transaxle U250E Automatic Transaxle: Automatic Transaxle System: Road Test 10. Install the Authorized Modifications Label. A. Using a permanent marker, enter the following information on the label: ECM part number [Refer to the Parts Information section for the CURRENT PART NUMBER] Calibration ID(s) [Refer to the Calibration Identification Chart for the NEW CALIBRATION ID] Dealer Code Repair Date Change Authority [This TSB number] B. Affix the Authorized Modifications Label to the vehicle at the location shown in Figure 1. The Authorized Modifications Label is available through the MDC, P/N 00451-00001-LBL.
