INTRODUCTION LIGHT SO BRIGHT LIGHT EMITTING DIODES LED are not a new form of light sources as they have been used for many years as indicator lights, on electrical appliances and many other products and devices that we can all recall. It is only in the last few years that LED s have been developed further so that they can be used for alternatives to traditional lighting that we all have been used to. Due to energy saving requirements and higher costs in power and maintenance, Gamma Illumination researched and developed a range of LED lighting products that are superior in performance to other products available. We have developed our own technologies, customised diode arrays and leading thermal management processes that has given Gamma Illumination Patent recognition. The range of Australian designed and made Gamma Illumination LED products have proven time and time again that not all LED luminaires are the same. Our clients have been surprised by the efficiency and performance of our products. TECHNOLOGY The development of LED technology by Gamma Illumination has produced a range of LED fixtures that perform to the highest levels that we can extract from technology. There are a number of core components that must be of the highest available quality to conform to our best practice. For example the LED dies are Japanese made with phosphor coatings that yield long life with no visible colour shift over time. We have standardised on one tight customized colour bin for each colour temperature so our customers can enjoy an environment of consistent colour. Our optical design delivers high light output that is well known around the world. Thermal management design is paramount if you want your LED to last. No short cuts can be taken here. Our designs and materials are very important and are designed to suit the harsh Australian climate. LIGHTING DESIGN & SIMULATION LIGHTING DESIGN is achieved using the world renowned AGI32 with nearly a decade of inhouse experience allows us to accurately simulate lighting environments and recommend the most suitable products. Lux levels can be shown at any point, particularly on the horizontal and vertical planes. Vertical illumination is very important in retail environments. Our lighting designs will show you the Lighting Power Density (watts per m²) in an area in order to be compliant to sections of the building code and AS1680. IES photometric files are available on all of our LED range. RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT PHOTOMETRIC TESTING Our Photometric Facility is equipped with a Rotating Mirror Goniophotometer capable of testing luminaires up to a length of 1.6m and weight of up to 50kg, with a test distance of up to 16.1m. Our photometer has the advantage of maintaining the luminaire in its correct mounting position, avoiding any adverse thermal effects. Our Laboratory is also equipped with an integrating sphere and Spectroradiometer for the purpose of analyzing the spectrum and performance of LEDs and small light sources. Gamma Illumination s Research & Development Laboratory is located at our head office in NSW. 8
In 2011, Gamma Illumination commissioned a new state of the art purpose built facility for Photometric and Electrical Testing, specialising in LED luminaires. The new laboratory has been established to improve research and development on luminaires, including Optical, Thermal and Mechanical Design. PHOTOMETRIC TESTING THERMAL TESTING LUMINAIRE DESIGN THERMAL TESTING Our laboratory can thermally test luminaires for compliance with the requirements of AS/NZS 60598.1. Provision has been made to test luminaires in an ambient of up to 40 C. LUMINAIRE DESIGN Luminaire and component design is achieved using 3D Design Software and associated with 3D rapid prototyping. This process results in the production of a model for demonstration and development purposes. 9
