MULTI-LAYER INSULATION The thermal protections of satellites are made of multi-layer insulations (MLI). The aim is to protect the satellites parts from thermal radiations. MLI blankets are manufactured in an ISO 8 standard cleanroom at our Toulouse factory. Our qualified workers are making a real hautecouture work to design the MLI. Airstar Aerospace benefits from a unique and recognized know-how in the design and manufacturing of MLI blankets. We are ISO 9001 certified. Strategically located near all French aerospace industries in Toulouse Made in France High level production process tracking ISO 9001 certified 4

STRATOSPHERIC BALLOONS Stratospheric balloons are mostly used by the scientific community to study the atmosphere, its chemistry and dynamics. They are also valuable tools for astronomers and biologists, or for demonstrating technologies. Since 1971, Airstar Aerospace has acquired a strong experience in textile design and manufacturing of stratospheric balloons. Our balloons lift anything from a few kilograms to several tons and are able to operate at an altitude as low as a few hundred metres or as high as 40 km. OPEN STRATOSPHERIC BALLOONS Open stratospheric balloons have one or more openings on the bottom of the envelope. MAIN FEATURES Flight duration: up to 1 week Dynamic flight Payload up to 2 700 kg and flight altitude up to 46 m OPEN STRATOSPHERIC BALLOONS RANGE We are ISO 9001 certified. 46 46 44 44 1203 Z Float Altitude [m] Z range 403 Z 402 Z 36 ZL 10 ZL 25 ENG 50 SF 35 SF 7 ENG 5 ZL 1 ZL ENG range 3 SF 0 0 200 400 400 40 40 38 801 Z 38 601 Z 800 800 34 34 30 30 28 28 26 26 24 24 30 SFR 22 22 20 20 18 18 5 SF 600 36 36 32 32 100 Z 12 SF SF range 603 Z 802 Z 150 Z 100 SF ZL range SFR range 350 SF 803 Z Float Altitude [m] 65 ZL 42 42 1 1200 1200 1400 1600 1600 Suspended mass [kg] 1800 2 2 2200 2400 2400 2600 16 16 2800 2800 Suspended Mass [kg] 5

SUPERPRESSURE STRATOSPHERIC BALLOONS Their envelope benefits from a very high level of tightness and from a strong reliability. Thus long-term flights above inhabited continents are possible. INFLATABLE TECHNOLOGIES FOR STRATOBUS TM Poppet valves, fans, balloon sensors Opaque envelope Solar concentrators Pressure control ballonets and pitch regulation Transparent envelope Tail units Airstar, part of the Stratobus TM project Nose moored system WHAT IS STRATOBUS TM? Stratobus TM is an autonomous, stationary stratospheric platform. Stratobus TM will be positioned at an altitude of about 20 kilometers (12 miles) over its area of operations. Both stationary and easily movable, the Stratobus TM multimission platform is well suited to both military and civil applications. Stratobus TM will carry payloads to perform missions such as the surveillance of borders or high-value sites, on land or at sea (videosurveillance of offshore platforms, etc...), security (the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking, etc...), environmental monitoring (forest fires, soil erosion, pollution, etc...) and telecommunications (Internet, 5G). AIRSTAR AND STRATOBUS TM Airstar Aerospace will provide the fully-equipped envelope. The mission of Airstar spreads out to the entire envelope, from the nose moored system to the tail units. The know-how of Airstar in the assembly of hightech textiles speaks on the envelope both opaque and transparent as well as on the solar concentrators. Airstar will finally provide all the ventilation system and balloon pressure control. WHAT ABOUT THE MARKET? THALES ALENIA SPACE The new market for high-altitude pseudo satellites, or HAPS, is estimated at one billion dollars from now to 2020, but is awaiting Stratobus TM. Stratobus TM, offering a coverage among 500 kilometers, is the solution able to win a large share of this market. 7

ISR PRODUCTS Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance tethered balloons Our family of ISR tethered balloons meets a wide range of surveillance and security needs. Stable and wind resistant Fast transportation and deployment Flexibility in altitude and payloads Long-term work Low operational costs Limited ground infrastructures MARKETS Whether they fly at medium or high altitude, tethered balloons get on board all types of sensors and materials, allowing application areas as diverse as: They are used for long-term missions with the advantage of a low operational cost compared to other aerial solutions. EXAMPLE OF APPLICATIONS Video surveillance Border control Anti-smuggling Broadcasting communication Prevention of piracy Aerial, maritime and ground radar Electronic warfare Homeland security Defence Civil engineering Maritime Agriculture Rescue Environment 8

WHO IS AIRSTAR? AIRSTAR AEROSPACE Airstar: inventor and world leader for lighting balloons Innovation as driving forces (8% of sales) 180 employees including 20 dedicated to R&D Since 1971, Airstar designs and produces thermal protections of satellites, tethered balloons, stratospheric balloons, airships and inflatable technologies. The activity, ISO 9001 certified, consists in the assembly of tight helium woven complex and high technicality films (hermetic, insulating, tough...), in the design of onboard equipments (onboard computer, actuator, sensor...), in the payload integration such as optronics and in the operating services on balloons.
