Eickhoff Continuous Miner Model CM 2 The Eickhoff CM 2 is worldwide the only Continuous Miner available giving customers the choice between two high powered traction drive concepts. H Version The H type is a proven full Hydraulic Motor driven Traction System with significant advantages in wet and muddy floor conditions. E - Version The E type is a full Inverter AC motors driven Traction System for customers who prefer this option. Cutter Gearcase The Cutter Gearcase concept is based on two separate LH and RH units connected together to provide the full installed motor power of 480 hp to the cutting drums. The two parts allow easy handling during installation underground. Maintenance and production engineers will appreciate the possibility to replace torric seals underground. Either of the gearcases can be independently changed out should the need arise. Cutter Drums The cutting diameter is 48 and the cutting width 12. The bit tip speed of 10.2 ft/s is the most important contribution to avoid unnecessary dust and fines creation. Drums are laced according to customer conditions and requirements. Conveyor and gathering head The combination of high speed CLA's (Centrifugal Loading Arms) and a 3 2 wide flight chain ensures unrestricted shear downs and minimum time for loading shuttle cars or continuous haulages. Easy chain tensioning and automatic slack compensation over the entire angle of swivelling is a matter of course. Traction system Head to head, when it comes to performance, the electric and the hydraulic traction systems provide lowest ground pressure and highest tramming speed and traction force. Mines with wet and muddy floor conditions will benefit from the high reliable hydraulic traction motors.
Electrical system The unique electrical control design concept makes a transformer obsolete. All electrical components for operational control and monitoring are placed in a single flameproof box in a high and dry position with best access for maintenance and trouble shooting. Two IPC's (Industrial Personal Computers) and microprocessor controlled motor protection devices reduce the number of electrical components and wiring to a minimum and increase the availability. Comprehensive data logging and transmission of relevant operational figures to surface give mine engineers the opportunity to optimize their production process. Hydraulic The advanced hydraulic system feeds all the lifting and swing cylinders and the traction motors. Despite the high pump volume the on board oil capacity is lower than most of the existing CM's on the market. In conjunction with the electric system proportional sump and shear is provided and can easily be adjusted by IPC settings. Scrubber, methane system, water sprays Depending on cutting height and customers requirements, almost all available makes of scrubbers can be fitted to the Eickhoff CM 2. Starting with 100 cuft/s hooded or open system with hydraulic or electric fan motor for low seams in the range of 5 3, up to 300 cuft/s with 60 hp electric motor for mid seam applications. Any methane system and water spray system can be fitted to the machine. 5 3 4 5 Driver seat The standard machine comes with remote control. Depending on customers requirement, the Eickhoff CM 2 can be equipped with control desk, driver seat and protective canopy in addition to remote control.
