Z axis Solidly Constructed Framework The FV Series features a Meehanite cast iron base with a low center of gravity, and an extra wide, inverted Y-shaped column. Superior to ordinary cast iron, the Meehanite bed has a higher density and offers uniform soundness. These characteristics give the casting greater tensile strength and better vibration-dampening capabilities for more robust machining. Four Y-Axis Boxway Design The FV Series is equipped with four hardened and ground box guideways in the Y axis. These guideways maximize rigidity for heavy workpieces that require powerful cuts. Way spacing is wider than competitor s designs and increase the vibration dampening capability of the X and Y axes. Built for Reliability Largest In Class Hybrid Guideway Design The FV1890 and FV2090 models offer a hybrid design of box guideways and cylindrical roller guideways. Built for Reliability Reliability Toyoda s vertical machining centers are manufactured to strict quality assurance standards for lasting performance. Each machine must pass a rigorous inspection before leaving our factory. Efficient Chip Removal The FV machines are designed to have a high volume of coolant flow across the bed for chip managment. Working in conjunction with the angled bed, the coolant flushes the chips into dual, screw-type augers. This low-maintenance setup efficiently carries the chips to the hinged, belt-type conveyor. Built for Reliability Precision Handscraping All precision contact surfaces are handscraped for long-term accuracy and durability. All spindle options offer high revolution accuracy, thermal stability, and maximum vibration dampening characteristics. Enlarged spindle bearings allow for the precise machining of greater load capacities. As a standard Toyoda package, all spindle selections have 300 psi coolant through spindle. Automatic Tool Changer The FV Series uses a random access, bidirectional automatic tool changer. Tool-to-tool change time is three seconds. FV965, FV1165, FV1365, FV1565 The CAT40 model has a standard capacity of 32 tools (optional 40). The CAT50 model, as shown below, has a standard capacity of 30 tools (optional 40). FV1480, FV1680 With the greatest number of pockets, these models have a standard capacity of 40 tools (optional 60). FV1890, FV2090 These models are equipped with a magazine for 30 tools (optional 40). Powerful Drive Motors Large AC servo motors in the X, Y, and Z axes are controlled by an advanced digital signal that allows for faster positioning feedback processing. The motors are connected to the ballscrew with axial couplings, which support high thrust loads and instantaneous response. This design reduces backlash for a smoother surface finish and better accuracy. Combined with precision ballscrews, this technology eliminates the need for a Z-axis counterbalance. The thick ballscrews are pre-tensioned and supported by angular contact thrust bearings for repeatability and thermal stability. Built for Speed and Power Workability FV machines are designed with features that contribute to the operator s ease of use and productivity. The wide door opening simplifies loading and unloading of the workpiece, while the machine s left and right doors can be easily accessed for maintenance. This series is also prepped for fourth axis machining, giving shops greater flexibility for future projects. Built for the Operator Advanced Control System The FV Series relies on the Fanuc 0i MD control. With more standard functions than most, Toyoda s CNC specifications include additional features, such as custom macro common variables, cylindrical interpolation, jerk control, Manual Guide i, and 200 pairs of tool offsets. All FV Series controls are 4 + 1 capable. 10 11
