Safety Information Important Safety Instructions Read all instructions before mounting and using this dispenser. Save these instructions for future reference. Warning Do not use liquids or chemical cleaners to clean the dispenser Only use the dispenser for the intended purpose of dispensing roll towels Do not use outdoors Do not operate the dispenser with any dispenser door open Dispenser must be securely attached to the wall bracket or potential injury may occur Caution This dispenser contains electronics and batteries. Batteries must not be exposed to extreme heat Do not mix old and new batteries. When batteries require replacement, use four new D-Cell alkaline batteries This dispenser includes blades necessary for cutting towels. Do not stick fingers in the dispenser Items included in the box: Dispenser Dispenser key 4 D-Cell alkaline batteries Hardware pack includes four screws NOTE: Appropriate anchors must be supplied by installers Required Tools: Drill and drill bits, phillips screwdriver, measuring tape and a leveling device 2

Mounting Instructions 1. Open the front door using the key provided, then open one of the side doors. 2. Remove the wall plate from the back of the dispenser by depressing the lock tabs from the inside of the dispenser. Lay the dispenser on a flat surface before depressing lock tabs. (See Fig 1) 3. Use the wall plate as a drill template for the mounting anchors. The bottom of the wall plate is to be 6 inches above the bottom of the dispenser. The bottom of the wall plate is approximately the same height as the discharge of the towel. For ADA compliance the bottom of the wall plate should be mounted 48 from the floor. (See Fig 2) 4. Use appropriate anchors and (4) screws to secure to the wall plate. Alternative screws and anchors may be required depending on wall materials. NOTE: FOR PROPER INSTALLATION THE WALL PLATE MUST BE LEVEL, USE A LEVELING DEVICE TO VERIFY BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH INSTALLATION. 5. Attach the dispenser to the wall plate by snapping into place. Ensure proper alignment and that the back housing is behind the front tabs (See Fig 3) and under the release tabs. Ensure the top is hooked behind the top flange. WARNING: TO AVOID POTENTIAL INJURY, THE DISPENSER MUST BE SECURELY ATTACHED TO THE WALL PLATE. 6. Insert the batteries from left to right as shown in Fig 4. Alliance Special Feature: The Alliance dispenser was designed so that dispenser body can be detached from the wall mounting plate (via the lock tabs) for easy removal during re-painting or remodeling of restroom facility wall structures. 3

Change Loading Door The dispenser is configured to install towels using the right side door. If placement dictates, the dispenser can be modified to install towels using the left side door using a simple process to reverse the mandrel set. 1. Remove two screws that secure the mandrel set to the frame (See Fig 4a) 2. Push to release the lock tab and push the bottom over ¼. Then, do the same for the top lock tab (See Fig 4b) 3. Slide the mandrel set out of the frame 4. Install the mandrel set in the opposite side of the dispenser. Ensure both locking tabs have seated completely 5. Install the two screws through the mandrel set into the frame (See Fig 4c) Mandrel Set Fig 4a Screws Fig 4c Fig 4b Lock Tab Screws 5

Mounting Option Fig 4d The back housing includes mounting holes on each corner. These can be used in place of or in addition to the wall plate for added security. (See Fig 4d) NOTE: THIS OPTION DOES MAKE IT MORE DIFFICULT TO DETACH UNIT DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES. 6

Towel Loading Instructions 1. Insert new rolls of towel onto mandrels with notched end of towel facing outward. (See Fig 5a) 2. Rotate each roll of towel until the roll cup fingers spring into the notches. (See Fig 5a) NOTE: THE SIDE DOORS WILL NOT CLOSE IF THE FINGERS ARE NOT ALIGNED WITH THE NOTCHES. (See Fig 5a) 3. Top Roll Loading: Gently lift the top loading bar while curling the towel beneath it. Use caution to avoid bunching the towel which can cause uneven loading and dispensing from the unit. Release the loading bar. (See Fig 5b) 4. Bottom Roll Loading: Swing the bottom pivoting chute forward. Pull the towel through the slot in the chute, leaving at least 3 inches of towel through the slot. Close the chute. (See Fig 5c) 5. Manual Feed: Simultaneously push and hold buttons A and B for 4 seconds (See Fig 6c) to manually load the first roll. Release, then press and hold buttons A and B again to load the second roll. NOTE: MANUAL FEEDING IS REQUIRED DURING THE INITIAL SETUP. AFTER INITIAL SETUP, MANUAL FEEDING IS NOT REQUIRED. 6. Tear off any towel that has been manually fed in step 5. 7. Ensure roll cup fingers are properly aligned with notches in the towel roll, then close both side doors. (See Fig 5d) NOTE: SIDE DOORS MUST BE COMPLETELY CLOSED PRIOR TO CLOSING FRONT DOOR. DAMAGE WILL OCCUR IF SIDE DOORS ARE CLOSED AFTER FRONT DOOR IS CLOSED. (See Fig 5d) 7

Towel Loading Instructions continued 8. Close the front door. 9. Automatic Loading: After initial setup, new rolls will load automatically. Remove empty roll and replace with new roll. Load according to Step 3 or 4 based upon roll position. Close doors. The new roll will load automatically, then dispenser will return to dispensing from original roll. Remove each sheet immediately at the end of each dispense cycle. The dispenser is now ready to dispense towels. Need more help loading towels? Settings 1. Status (Fig 6a): Battery and towel status is communicated via the clear status panel on the front of the dispenser. Status is reported every 25 seconds when the dispenser is idle, or when a towel is dispensed. The lights on the left communicate battery health and the lights on the right act as a fuel gauge for the towel. Green lights indicate all is well. A red flashing light on the left indicates the batteries are low and should be changed. One red flashing light on the right indicates one roll of towel is empty or jammed. Two flashing red lights on the right indicate both rolls are empty or jammed 2. Dispensing Modes (Fig 6b): The dispenser can be set to dispense in either Valet or On Demand modes. The current setting is indicated by the LEDs to the left of button A. An illuminated red light indicates the dispenser is set to Valet mode. An illuminated green light indicates the dispenser is set to On Demand mode. To change the preferred mode, press and hold button A until the chosen light color appears. Valet Mode dispenses a towel when a towel is taken. A towel is always present. (The default mode is Valet mode.) On demand mode dispenses a towel at the wave of a hand. Towels remain inside the dispenser until requested. 3. Towel Length (Fig 6c): The dispenser can be set to dispense 11 or 18 towels. The current setting is indicated by the LED to the right of button B. An illuminated green light indicates the dispenser is set to dispense 18 towels. The illuminated red light indicates the dispenser is set to dispense 11 towels. To change the length, press and hold button B until the chosen light color appears. (The default setting is 11 towels.) Problem Solving 1. Jam clearing: Remove any towel found behind the front door or blades. Open and close the front door. If towel still does not dispense correctly, open the front and side doors and rotate the roll backwards to remove towel from dispensing path. Remove any towel fragments. Reload towel per instructions on page 7. 2. Towel Sensor Blocked: The dispenser includes a sensor to detect towel presence. If a towel tears unevenly when it is removed, it may leave a fragment behind which blocks the sensor. Check beneath the hand sensor for any fragment and remove. After 3 seconds, a hand wave will cause the dispenser to deliver the next towel regardless of whether the sensor is blocked. Alliance Towel Dispenser Troubleshooting Guide Problem Possible Cause Action Difficulty in Loading Towel Does not dispense towel Towel Status red light(s) blinking Loading process Towel jam in path(s) Towel not threaded thru the load slot in the pivoting chute Chute not closing completely and towel not being drawn around drive roller Chute pinching towel Towel blocking sensor Empty 12 Follow the procedure outlined on the Alliance operation manual page 7 Clear the top and bottom towel paths. Wipe off the clear, front window (both sides) Remove any towel that is present between the lower blade and front of the dispenser. Allow a full roll to dispense from the top source roll. The dispenser will run auto-calibration during this time and the problem should resolve itself. 13

Troubleshooting Guide continued Problem Possible Cause Action Premature switching from bottom to top roll Dust on sensor window Wipe off the window covering the towel sensor. Use a dry cloth or small, soft brush. Valet mode not dispensing after sheet removed On demand mode does not switch roll sources when source becomes empty Dispenses 3 consecutive sheets, then switches roll sources and/ or shuts down False Detection Sensor is reading the bottom chute as a towel False Detection Sensor is reading the bottom chute as a towel Not detecting towel 1. Remove bottom roll of towel, remove battery for 5 seconds and then reinstall. Load towel in top position only. Dispenser will automatically recalibrate while dispensing this roll towel. 2. Perform manual re-calibration 1. Remove bottom roll of towel, remove battery for 5 seconds and then reinstall. Load towel in top position only. Dispenser will automatically recalibrate while dispensing this roll towel. 2. Perform manual re-calibration Manually re-calibrate Scan here with your smart phone to view the Alliance Loading video or visit http://wausaupaper.com/qr/alliance for more help with the loading process 14

Manual Calibration Manual calibration should only be performed if any of the following conditions exist: The dispenser is in Valet mode and does not dispense a towel after the previous towel is removed. The dispenser is in On-Demand mode and does not transfer from an empty to full roll. The dispenser delivers three consecutive towels then switches the roll source or shuts down. Procedure 1. Remove all visible towel (under the towel tear-off blades). This is a critical step that cannot be skipped. 2. Open the front and side doors. Remove one battery for 5 seconds, then reinstall the battery. 3. Do not swing the bottom chute down; it must remain in the closed position. 4. Press and hold A Button and the Lever at the same time, then release both at the same time. (See Fig 8) 5. The two red LEDs will illuminate, confirming re-calibration has initiated and completed. 6. Close all doors and resume operation to confirm dispenser is functioning properly. Lever A Button Red LEDs Fig 8 15
