Mobility in Germany Basis for Growth and Employment Tel Aviv May 19,2014

Short Introduction: Different players promote the economic relations between Israel and Germany: Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany German-Israeli Chamber of Commerce German Trade and Invest (GTAI) non-governmental level: law firms, companies

The latest studies show that Germany is the number one location for investors in Europe. Both economic stability and the size of the market are key factors that ensure business success here. Companies also benefit from Germany s excellent global economic links and the international exchange of knowledge, products and specialists.

Europe's Economic Hub Germany is the largest market in Europe. It constitutes 20 percent of Europe's GDP (EU-28) and is home to 16 percent of the total European Union (EU) population. The German economy is both highly industrialized and diversified with equal focus placed on services and production. GDP (in EUR bn) SHARE OF TOTAL GDP (EU-28) POPULATION (in m) Germany 2064 20% 82 16% France 2030 16% 65 13% UK 1900 14% 63 13% Spain 1050 9% 46 9% Netherlands 600 5% 17 3% Poland 380 3% 39 8% Czech Republic 150 1% 11 2% Slovak Republic 70 1% 5 1% SHARE OF TOTAL POPULATION (EU-28) USA 12210 314 Japan 4640 128 EU-28 12950 505 Eurozone 9490 330

Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Mobility is the basis for growth, employment and wealth. We need a strong and sustainable infrastructure in which all the different means of transport work together. We support electro-vehicles with batteries or fuel cells. Our goal: world leader for electro mobility: until 2020 1 Mio. electro vehicles on German streets.

A Break for the cities mobility problems in metropolitan areas: congestion delays air quality/ pollution commuting connection suburban and rural/ peripheral areas

A Spiral of Congestion network overload pollution, noise etc. Stadtflucht / emigration traffic demand rises more congestion

How to get out of that spiral? New Mobility: Which products will be used? car rental 14 6 "classical" CarSharing 13 7 "flexible" CarSharing 16 8 agency for arranging rides "Mitfahrzentrale" E-Bikes 16 16 12 12 rental bike 16 13 service taxi/monit shirut 21 10 mobility card 20 14 gas driver cars (Methanol) 25 14 electrocars 24 18 0 20 40 60 quite interesting very interesting

Individual Mobility vs. Public Transport Flexibility, multimodality, intermodality: flexible services (bus on demand, GetTaxi) instant ride sharing, IT-aided rent-a-bicycle instant CarSharing, stationbased CarSharing mobilephone ticket / e-ticket / mobilitycard parking place guidance and fee payment/ Pango via app/mobile phone
