Screw Pump Twin Aggregates Series SPZ/M MagDrive Application For the delivery of fuel oils, hydraulic oils or other lubricating liquids. The fluid media must not contain any abrasive particles nor attack the pump materials chemically. Main fields of application SPZ/M-twin aggregates operate as transfer, booster and burner operation pumps in fuel oil engineering, as transfer and filling pumps in tank farms as well as lube-oil pumps in any industrial branches. They are moreover used for pressure generation in oil-hydraulic plants of all kinds. Design/Construction Twin aggregate of the compact type of construction in which two screw pumps are interconnected by way of a reversing valve casing. Pump: Self-priming three-screw type of pump with internal bearing, without shaft sealing due to magnetic clutch. The pump is hermetically sealed due to the can of the magnetic clutch. The hardened and ground screws run in an exchangeable casing insert. The driving screw is hydraulically balanced. The end-side pump cover absorbs the axial thrust of the working screws. Their drive is hydraulic. The thread flanks merely transmit the torque resulting from the liquid friction. Thus, the thread flanks are practically stress-free and not subject to any wear. All sliding parts are lubricated by the delivery medium being within the range of full liquid friction. The radial and axial bearing of the driving screw with pump size 20 is by the balancing piston guided in the bearing ring, with pump size 40 by a groove ball bearing. Magnetic clutch and suction chamber are interconnected by way of a return gallery. Thus, the liquid circulates in the clutch chamber and leads away the heat, caused by eddy currents. A pump bracket with mounting foot carries out the connection pump/driving motor. Compact aggregate: Two of the described pumps are attached to a common reversing valve casing. Arranged in the reversing valve casing are two stop valves and two lockable non-return valves. Data on the design with filter, on the possible filter heating and on the manometers included in the scope of supply can be taken from the separate items of description. Operation Pump: The three spindles build due to their special profiling of the thread flanks, an axial and continuous shifting by rotation of the spindles from the suction to the pressure side. Despite the spindle rotations no turbulences occur. Consistent chamber volume excludes squeezing. Compact aggregate: The operating pump primes the fluid to be pumped through the suction chamber of the reversing valve casing and, in case of the design with filter, through the filter. Passage through the radial screen filter is from the outside to the inside. The operating pressure building up in the pressure chamber opens the nonreturn valve of the operating pump closing that of the inoperative pump. This prevents the stand-by pump from turning in reverse motion. Noise/Pulsation The structural design and operation of the screw pump twin aggregate ensure a very low noise level and an almost pulsationfree delivery. The pressure data only apply to nearly static pressure load. With dynamic pressure change load, please inquire. Pressure relief valves As an overload protection, installed in each pump is a pressure relief valve, which, with all designs, is set at a response pressure approx 10% above the operating pressure. In case of different response pressures are requested, it must be indicated in the order. 1

A mano-vacuummeter being requested on the suction side, same would have to be provided at the site. Measuring point M1 is provided for connection. SPZ/M with Filter Suction side: two mano-vacuummeter Outlet side: a manometer (each of which included in the scope of supply) The mano-vacuummeters show the pressure behind the filters. Thus, the pressure loss in the filter can be determined and an inadmissible contamination realized. Change-over switchgear: Against extra charge, a reversing device is supplied for operating control purposes, which, regarding its circuitry, is designed so that in case of failure of the operating pump, the stand-by pump is automatically put into operation. Signal lamps indicate the respective operating conditions. Scope of supply: Change-over switchgear U1 for motors up to 3 KW (400 V operating voltage) for across-the-line starting, consisting of:: 1 Steel plate casing, enclosure IP54, dimensions: width 320 mm, height 320 mm, depth: 160 mm 2 three-phase air-break contactors with overload relay 1 selector switch (PUMP 1, PUMP 2, und OFF) 2 green signal lamps Operation 1 red signal lamp Fault 1 control fuseg Connecting terminals for all incoming and outgoing lines. 2 2 control line terminals for connection of additional control stations, if any. Change-over switchgear U3 for motors with 4.0 und 5.5 KW drive power (400 V operating voltage) suitable for star-delta starting, consisting of: 1 Steel plate casing, enclosure IP54, dimensions: width 520 mm, height 520 mm, depth: 210 mm 1 selector switch (PUMP 1, PUMP 2, und OFF) 2 green signal lamps Operation 1 red signal lamp Fault 2 circuit fuses 1 control fuse Connecting terminals as U1 Installation SPZ/M-compact aggregates are provided for horizontal installation or wall mounting. For safety purposes, the arrangement with motor downwards is not admissible. Oil through A separate oil through is supplied for each SPZ/M compact aggregate. Drive Drives of the following type are normally provided: Surface-cooled three phase squirrel cage induction motors, IM V1 type of construction; enclosure IP54 according to IEC Standards, class B insulation, performances and main dimensions according to DIN 42677. Additional radial forces must not act on the driving spindle. Magnetic clutch A connection flange to the drive-side of the screw pump fixes the magnetic clutch. The driving screw of the pump is stiffly connected with the rotor of the magnetic clutch. Non-contact transmission of torque between driving motor and pump due to the magnetic flux lines between inner and outer rotors. Filter As a protection against contaminations, the pumps can be supplied with a filter casing with incorporated radial screen filter (surcharge). Filter mesh size 0,4 mm. A pressure vacuum gauge included in the scope of supply indicates the pressure behind the filter. Thus, the pressure loss in the filter can be determined and an inadmissible contamination realized.

Electric heating (only per order) In case of design with filter, heating shell may be provided for filter heating (surcharge). In case of lower temperatures (below 0 C), an appropriately longer heating up time must be expected. The heating is not suited to achieve, during operation, a marked temperature increase of the fluid to be pumped.
