Increased efficiency for Smart Positioners Efficient in electrical power consumption extremely low energy consumption generates reserves for diagnostic functions Efficient in energy consumption unbeatably low air consumption saves operational costs Modern automation requires an increasing number of diagnostic functions in smart positioners. The electrical power consumption is critical, especially for EX-i (intrinsically safe) applications, because it is strong limited. The piezo valve technology developed by HOERBIGER offers the advantage of requiring electrical energy only needed during the short transitions switch-over processes (while solenoid systems require energy during the entire activation period). This unmatched low energy consumption gives positioner manufacturers the option to implement additional distinguishing features. The energy-efficient operation of process and chemical plants is increasingly becoming the operators center of attention. As much as half of the required compressed air can be achieved by a lower internal air consumption of the positioners used.
