Shengdong Biogas / Landfill Gas Fuelled Gensets Ranging from 50 kva to over 750 KVA The term "biogas" refers to gases created by the anaerobic fermentation of biological materials. Their main constituents are methane and carbon dioxide. Considerable quantities of biogas are produced by sludge digestion in the tanks of sewage treatment plants (sewage gas) and anaerobic fermentation of agricultural waste and organic residues in garbage tips (landfill gas). Shengdong Coal Mine Methane (CMM) Fueled Generator Set CMM USE IN IC ENGINES AT COAL MINES Coal mine degasification was originally developed to improve worker safety in coal mines, since explosive gas can form when methane mixes with air. Now, that gas can power the coal mine or be fed into the public power grid. The thermal energy can be used for heating purposes on-site, or be fed into a district heating system. And finally, mining companies can obtain additional revenues by selling Carbon Emission Reduction (CER) credits following the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) or comparable mechanisms introduced among countries that have signed the Kyoto Protocol. The main technical challenge in using coal mine gas in gas engines is the fluctuation of methane concentration during operation, as well as variations in gas pressure, humidity and quality that can be observed from one mine to the other. Cogeneration, also known as Combined Heat and Power (CHP), is the on-site production of two kinds of energy usually electricity and heat from a single source of fuel.
