Lubricants with special friction features are required for synchronised manual transmissions, for automatic transmissions, locking differentials and wet brakes (as in agricultural tractors). These so called multifunctional fluids for agricultural and construction machines can be divided into 2 groups: UTTO Universal Tractor Transmission Oil STOU Super Tractor Oil Universal UTTO STOU Motor oil Gear oil (GL-4) Hydraulic systems Wet brakes What shall be kept in mind regarding wet brakes? Wet brakes lubricants must provide a good balance between dynamic and static friction. Viscosity must ensure safe braking capacity while preventing brakes from chattering and juddering. This friction factor is achieved by means of special additives and tuned according to the material multidiscs are made of. If no suited oil is used, a noise is provoked, the so called brake chatter. Therefore tests are required to guarantee the brake performance.
