The engineering team in our newly expanded research center conducts environmental/corrosion testing, metallurgical and chemical analysis, and mechanical testing to ensure our product innovations translate from the lab to the field. Keep Corrosion Off! Our pretreating and e-coating process provides the industry s best corrosion resistance Applied to every new spring brake we produce, our state-of-the-art 8 step pretreating and e-coating process provides substantially more corrosion protection than conventional coating applications. TSE s e-coating provides an industry best salt spray protection compared to other brake chambers. By adding an polyester powder coating, we improve salt spray resistance to create the ultimate protection for your brakes against corrosion, heat, and abrasion. Corrosion Resistance There s NO Comparison Photos below show a TSE UltraL ife spring brake and the leading competitor before and after 504 hours of salt spray testing. As the condition of the chambers clearly indicate, there's NO comparison in corrosion resistance. STEP 1 8-Stage Pretreatment Each part of the brake is cleaned to remove all dirt and oils. Parts are etched and processed with a zinc phosphate layer to secure a bond between the metal substrate and the e-coat paint to improve adherence. Finally, parts are sealed with chrome, which neutralizes the surface and seals in the zinc phosphate, reducing the number of potential corrosion sites. STEP 2 E-Coating Process After pretreatment, parts are immersed into 5,000 gallons of electrically charged black polyester coating, which is immediately followed by a three-stage post rinse. Through this process a quality film is uniformly adhered to the surface and then baked on the chamber. TSE UltraLife - Before & After STEP 3 Polyester Powder Coating To complete our corrosion protection, spring brakes enter TSE's new automated spray booth where eight electrostatic guns quickly and completely cover each part with polyester powder coating. This dry finishing process electrostatically charges and sprays particles of pigments and resin onto the metal. Innovative Design UltraLife features a 100% steel inverted spring bottom housing that reduces both spring coil-to-coil contact and spring coil-to-spring housing contact. The all-steel design provides a durable, air-tight center section that virtually eliminates leaks and structural failures, while the recessed pressure plate allows for a shorter and more compact chamber to help prevent power spring drift. Tough Main Spring TSE s unique "No Touch power spring design helps minimize inclusions and seams that can cause premature failure, and features a UL base coating and 5 stage coating system. Tested to double SAE standards, UltraLife s main spring actually exceeds SAE dry cycle testing requirements in a slurry environment. A More Powerful Spring Brake in a Smaller Package As the first double-diaphragm chamber used worldwide for disc brake applications, TSE s High Output Technology (HOT) chamber is a proven alternative to piston type disc brakes. HOT chambers offer higher output performance for your S-cam drum brake and disc brake application when compared to standard double-diaphragm chambers, and at a lower cost than piston chambers. HOT brakes are ideal for replacing piston brakes that are typically used on buses and other severe-duty applications. Patented Design Featuring a lighter weight and smaller envelope size, the HOT brake's patented housing design, HOT diaphragm and HOT pressure plate increase performance while improving effective surface area. In addition, internal dust boot and optional rod guide ensure longer service life and improved protection against corrosion. A reduced profile (RP) design is available for special fitment needs, where every millimeter counts. Powerful Parking Performance Achieve a higher parking or emergency force in a smaller profile while maintaining low hold-off pressure with a HOT brake. Accordion Style Boot Cover Severe Duty brakes protect the push rod with an accordion style boot cover made from neoprene rubber, which allows fewer outside contaminants for increased durability and longer life. Stainless Steel Clevis Pin Helps prevent seizing at connection between chamber and slack adjuster for an increased resistance to chemicals and excellent protection for salt water port applications. Breather Holes Are Plugged All breather holes on the Severe Duty are plugged except for two holes per tandem, allowing the chamber to drain and breathe while protecting it from outside material, ultimately extending service life of the brake. Size/Stroke Available in a 2430 and 3030 size in 2.5" or 3" stroke, TSE Severe Duty spring brakes are an OEM quality replacement.
