Chemical Mixing System Operating and Installation Instructions for Focus II Mid-Size Walk-Behind Kit #11363A CHEMICAL MIXING SYSTEM OPERATING AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS TOOLS REQUIRED: Phillips Screwdriver Utility Knife Tape Measure 3 / 32 Flat Blade Screw Driver 17 mm Wrench Side Cutting Pliers 8 mm Wrench CAUTION: Do not operate the chemical pump dry. If the chemical container is empty, make sure the chemical control is in the off position. This system is designed to automatically mix the cleaning chemical from the manufacturer s container into the water from the the system. The system can accept either round or rectangular containers. The control knob is used to select the desired ratio according to the recommendation of the chemical manufacturer and the application requirements. The ratio settings are shown in Figure A. CHEMICAL MIXING SYSTEM INSTRUCTIONS (Kit Drawing is on Page 5, Fig. G. Refer to this drawing for # items in the following instructions) 1. Completely drain the recovery tank. 2. Turn the machine on and lower the head using the one touch button. 3. With head lowered turn the machine off using the key switch. 4. Turn the solution tank valve to the closed position. 5. Disconnect the main power plug. 6. Remove and set aside the four bolts retaining the handle assembly. Slide the assembly backwards being careful not to damage or put strain on the existing harness wires. 7. Install the chemical module (item 17) in the location indicated by the arrow pointing up in fi gure B using two of 8-32 screws (item 12) provided with the kit. 8. Trim the instrument panel decal to expose the opening for the potentiometer as shown in fi gure C. Attach the potentiometer in the chemical harness to this opening using the star washer and nut on the shaft. 9. Attach the ten pin connector on the harness to the chemical module. Now route the red, gray, green and brown wires through the opening into the battery compartment. Figure B 10. Connect the brown and black wires labeled Freq Sw to each other on rotary brush head machines. Do not connect the wires on cylindrical or BOOST head machines. 11. Remove the red wire from the traverse controller. Attach the red wire from the chemical system harness to the terminal on the traverse controller. Attach the removed red wire to the open terminal on the red wire of the chemical system harness. Repeat the process with the black wire on the traverse controller and chemical system harness. The location of these connections is indicated by the arrows pointing down in fi gure B. Figure C 12. Reattach the handle assembly using the four bolts set aside in step 6. 13. Rotate the potentiometer shaft counterclockwise until it stops. Slide the adjustment knob (item 16) onto the potentiometer shaft and tighten the set screw with the line on the knob pointing to the OFF position on the label. 14. Remove the two bolts, shown in fi gure D, from the solenoid valve. Remove the solenoid valve from the frame. 15. Remove the solution hose from the valve. 16. Cut hose 2 ¾ inch measured from the solution valve. Cut and discard ¾ inch from the other hose to allow clearance for the reducing tee (item 10). 17. Loosely place a clamp (item 11) over the solution hose coming from the tank and then insert the reducing tee (item 10) into the solution hose. Figure D 18. Loosely place 2 clamps (item 11) on each of the cut sections of hose then insert the reducing tee between the two. 19. Remove the green wire from the solution valve and attach the green wire from the chemical harness to the solution valve. Attach the green wire that was removed to the piggyback terminal on the chemical harness. Follow the same procedure for the orange wires. 20. Replace the solenoid valve in the frame using the bolts removed in step 14, rotate the reducing tee so the 3/8 inch diameter barb is facing the front of the machine and tighten the hose clamps. 21. Assemble the cap adapter, hoses, pump, and check valve (items 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9) as shown in fi gure G. Route the hoses through the machine and secure with wire ties. 22 Assemble the chemical pump heat sink (item 6) to the chemical bottle bracket (item 1) using the two 8-32 screws (item 12) provided in the kit. 23. Remove the bolt and washer indicated in fi gure E. Place the chemical bottle support in the orientation shown and secure using the previously removed bolt and the M-4 screw, lock washer and washer (items 13, 14, and 18) provided in the kit. Apply the chemical settings label (item 19) as shown. Figure FE Instruction Sheet 71490A Clarke Page 3
24. Insert the chemical pump (item 5) into the heat sink (item 6) and secure with a wire tie as shown in fi gure F. Attach the red and gray wires from the chemical harness to the side terminals leaving the top terminal open as shown. Secure the wires and tubes as shown. 25. Place the bottle insert (item 2) into the chemical bottle and place the bottle into the opening in the bracket. Screw the cap adapter attached to the previously installed tubes onto the chemical bottle. 26. Reconnect the main power connector and turn the solution valve to the open position. Figure F 27. Fill the solution tank with water and the machine is ready to operate with the new chemical mixing system. Chemical Mixing System Electrical Schematic Freq.
