Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation. These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document. This document covers such items as:- Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.). Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.). Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.). Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.). Please see your Toyota dealer for a copy of this document. 10 mm Wrench 1. Remove Battery Cable. (a) Protect fender before starting. (b) Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when removing cable. Fig. 1-1 (c) Remove the negative battery cable. (Fig. 1-1) Fig. 2-1 Pull 2. Vehicle Disassembly. (a) Remove OE mirror and discard. (1) With both hands, grab mirror firmly on both sides and pull downward sharply until mount releases from windshield button. (Fig. 2-1) Phillips #2 (b) Remove overhead console. (1) Open sunglasses compartment in overhead console and remove one (1) screw. (Fig. 2-2) Fig. 2-2 Page 2 of 13 pages

Panel Removal Tool (2) Insert Panel Removal Tool between front edge of overhead console and vehicle headliner. (Fig. 2-3) Fig. 2-3 (3) Carefully pull overhead console down from headliner to expose harness connectors. Connectors x2 (4) Disconnect the connectors. (Fig. 2-4) Fig. 2-4 Fig. 2-5 Slotted Removal Tool Rotate (c) Using a slotted panel removal tool, loosen the driver side sun visor clip by rotating clip 90 degrees counter clockwise. (Fig. 2-5) (1) Rotating clip clockwise or more than 90 degrees will cause damage to clip when trying to remove it. (2) Carefully pull clip with headliner down, taking care not to damage the clip. Plastic Nut (i) Remove plastic nut from driver-side cowl cover and remove cowl cover. (Fig. 2-12) (k) Pry top edge of screw cover open to expose 10 mm hex head screw. (1) Remove the small cover from the lower dash cover s right side. A/T model only. 10 mm Socket and Ratchet (l) Remove two (2) hex head screws from lower I.P. Torx 20 Bit Torque Wrench (c) Tighten the screw in the mirror mounting bracket with torque wrench to 1.75 N-m (15.5 lbf-in). (Fig. 3-3) Fig. 3-3 Windshield Wire Cover (d) Route the mirror wire harness into the groove of the windshield wire. (Fig. 3-4) 7 Pin Connector Fig. 3-4 Sharp metal 17 from wire cover (e) Route the mirror wire harness into the headliner and across to driver-side A-pillar. Fig. 3-5 Foam Tape (5) Places (1) Apply one (1) piece of foam tape to cover sharp edge. (2) Apply four (4) pieces of foam tape to secure harness to inner surface of headliner. (Fig. 3-5) Wire Ties x4 (f) Route mirror harness down the A-pillar, along the OE harness, forward of I.P. reinforcement bar and under dash. Fig. 3-6 (1) Secure the mirror wire harness to the OE harness with four (4) small wire ties in A- pillar. (Fig. 3-6) Page 8 of 13 pages

Large Wire Ties x2 (g) Route wire harness along main vehicle harness, forward of I.P. reinforcement bar and into driver-side cowl area. (Fig. 3-7) (1) Secure with two (2) large wire ties. Fig. 3-7 (h) Carefully pull apart Ground wire from Ignition wire, enough to allow separate routing (approximately 10 inches). (Fig. 3-8) Approx. 10 inches Fig. 3-8 10 mm Socket (i) Remove Ground bolt and apply ring-terminal end of harness to Ground bolt. (Fig. 3-9) (1) Re-attach Ground bolt. Purple Wire (Pin #3) (k) Locate purple wire in pin #3 on 20-pin connector block. (Fig 3-11) Fig. 3-11 Pliers Purple Wire (Pin #3) (l) Apply red T-tap to the purple wire and secure with pliers. (Fig. 3-12) (m) Plug the wire harness red spade connector into the T-tap. (Fig. 3-12) Fig. 3-12 Small Wire Tie (n) Secure harness behind fuse panel to wire bundle with one (1) small wire tie. (Fig. 3-13) Fig. 3-13 (o) Bundle any excess wire and secure to OE harnesses with three (3) large wire ties. (Fig. 3-14) Large Wire Ties x3 (p) Tighten all wire ties and clip excess. 4. Reconnect Battery. Torque Wrench, 10 mm Socket Negative Battery Cable 45 (a) Reconnect the vehicle s negative battery cable. (Fig. 4-1) (1) Position the negative terminal to the battery as shown (~45 degrees). (2) Tighten the nut to 4.1 N-m (36 lbf-in). Fig. 4-1 Fig. 5-1 Battery 5. Testing. (3) Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when replacing the cable (a) Turn ignition key to ON position. (b) With the vehicle in a fairly well lit area, perform the following test of Auto Dimming Feature: (1) To make sure the auto-dimming feature is on, verify that the green LED to the left of the switch is on. If it is not on, push the l O (on/off) button to turn feature on. (2) Cover (using dark cloth or towel) the forward-looking photocell located on the back of the mirror. (Fig. 5-1) (3) After a few seconds, the mirror will begin to darken (the time may vary with ambient light levels). (4) Remove the cover from the forward photocell and the mirror will begin to clear. (5) Turn ignition key to OFF position. 6. Final Assembly. (a) Reinstall fuse box and harness clip. (b) Reconnect hood release lower. Page 11 of 13 pages

(c) Reconnect all connectors to IP panel. (d) Reinstall lower IP and small cover (if removed). (e) Reinstall driver side cowl cover. (f) Reinstall driver side foot rest. (g) Reinstall driver side scuff plate. (h) Reinstall driver side "A" pillar trim and grab handle. (i) Reinstall driver side sun visor and clip. (j) Reinstall overhead console. (k) Remove fingerprints, smudges, dirt, etc. from mirror and windshield with Household Windex. (1) When cleaning with Household Windex, follow the manufacturer s directions. Do not allow cleaner to air dry. (l) Verify each reinstalled component for proper fit and function. Page 12 of 13 pages

Checklist - these points MUST be checked to ensure a quality installation. Check: Look For: Accessory Function Checks Vehicle should be in a fairly well lit area. Turn ignition switch to ON. Verify green LED is on. If it is not ON press On / Off button - confirm LED is ON. Auto-dimming feature: Cover the forward-looking light sensor (on the back of the mirror). Verify mirror darkens. Mirror clears: Remove cover from photocell. Operation Instruction Card Mirror returns to clear state. Placed in the vehicle glove box. Vehicle Function Checks Check dome light Check battery negative cable Check functions of all switches/controls on lower IP. Verify dome light functions properly. Nut should be tightened to 4.1 N-m (36 lbf-inch). Correct operation. Page 13 of 13 pages
