Heads-Up. Porsche Drivers Explain Their Helmets. It is often said that motorsport is becoming too corporate, too homologized. True or not, there is at least one place that the driver (typically) keeps full control: the helmet. Some drivers take full advantage of this platform showcasing their personality with vivid designs that put their psyche out there for all to see. Others subtly use their carbon fiber buckets to represent their corporate partners, their family roots or their own artistic bent. Some just hand it over and let someone else use it as a glossy canvas. 20 drivers who are piloting Porsche racecars on the IMSA circuit both WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge as well as in the Pirelli World Challenge this season, offered up their reasons for the signature they show to the world. At the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, sports car fans can again expect an unforgettable motorsport experience. The tenth and penultimate round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will be contested on September 17 with the Porsche North America works team fielding a pair of 911 RSR. Also contested on this weekend in the capital of Texas is the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama as well as the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. Spectators can enjoy five races with nearly 40 Porsche racing vehicles including the 911 RSR, 911 GT3 R, 911 GT3 Cup, Cayman GT4 Clubsport as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans winning-919 Hybrid models. This marks the third time for the IMSA SportsCar Championship to race at the Circuit of the Americas. The Formula 1 racetrack with its distinctive observation tower is located in the hills not far from downtown Austin. The track is part of a modern entertainment complex, which also hosts other sporting competitions and musical concerts. The 2015 IMSA GTLM champion Patrick Pilet (France) and Nick Tandy (Great Britain) again share the cockpit of the No. 911 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR for the Austin round. Their works driver colleagues Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Frédéric Makowiecki (France) tackle the race in the sister 911 RSR with the starting number 912. Recently, the pair clinched their fourth podium result this season with a third-place finish at Virginia. American customer teams take on the GTD class with the new Porsche 911 GT3 R. Jörg Bergmeister (Germany) contests this category in the No. 73 Park Place Motorsports with co-driver Patrick Lindsey (Santa Barbara, California). Former Porsche junior Alex Riberas (Spain) and Mario Farnbacher (Germany) campaign the No. 23 Team Seattle/Alex Job Racing 911 GT3 R in the class as well. Tackling the WeatherTech Championship are the Porsche 911 RSR and the Porsche 911 GT3 R. After securing victories at the long distance classics in Le Mans, Daytona and Sebring as well as numerous championship titles, the 470 hp 911 RSR has become the most successful GT racing car of recent years. The 911 RSR is based on the seventh-generation of the iconic 911 sports car, with 2016 marking its last season of racing as a factory car. Its successor is expected to make its race debut in January 2017 at the Daytona 24-hour race. Porsche built the 500 hp Porsche 911 GT3 R for GT3 series worldwide based on the 911 GT3 RS production sports car. The new customer racer scored its first victory in the GTD class at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Head of Porsche Motorsport. Austin has always been one of the highlights of the season for Porsche. With the IMSA SportsCar Championship, the Sports Car World Endurance Championship, the SportsCar Challenge and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA, four top-class racing series will hold championship rounds in the capital of Texas. On this weekend, Porsche fans will be treated to a very special motorsport experience; after all, it s not every day that you can admire almost the entire range of Porsche s racing cars at one race event. After a brief dry spell, we were back on the podium recently in Virginia and now we aim to build on this performance in Texas. The Circuit of the Americas is a fantastic, extremely demanding circuit and hence a real challenge for all of our drivers and teams regardless of which championship they contest. Patrick Pilet, Driver, No. 911 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR. The Circuit of the Americas is one of my favorite racetracks in the USA. But a victory there is still missing from my collection. We got very close to winning last year, but Public Relations Department 7 of 26 Public Relations Department

while we were in the lead we had to pit briefly two laps before the finish. I hope we can do better this time. Our chances look good, because Austin has traditionally been good turf for us. Nick Tandy, Driver, No. 911 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR. I always particularly look forward to Austin. Part of the reason for this is the demanding racetrack I especially enjoy the first fast sector. But the city has a very special flair and it s always worth a visit. As for the race, we have a score to settle. This year I hope that we can bring home the victory that we lost last year just a few miles from the finish line. Earl Bamber, Driver, No. 912 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR. I have great memories of Austin. In 2014 I won the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup title there, and we were also looking good last year with the 911 RSR. Austin is one of my favorite American cities. Since the Circuit of the Americas also hosts a round of the WEC, I ll be able to catch up with many Porsche teammates and old friends. I m really looking forward to that. Frédéric Makowiecki, Driver, No. 912 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR. Finally I get to go racing on a familiar US racetrack. The Circuit of the Americas has an interesting layout and I m very confident that we can match the pace of the frontrunners. We should be able to make the most of the 911 RSR s traction advantages, especially in the slow corners. The most important thing will be to find the optimal balance for our car during the practice session. Jörg Bergmeister, No. 73 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R. Public Relations Department 8 of 26 Public Relations Department

After skipping the race in Virginia I m now looking forward to Austin. The Circuit of the Americas is a very modern racetrack, but it s still a lot of fun to drive there. I hope that we can repeat our result from Elkhart Lake where we secured second-place. Heat of the Night. Porsche 919 Hybrid Takes Championship Defense to Texas. Only two weeks after the Porsche 919 Hybrid s winning race in Mexico City, the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) heads to Austin, Texas. On Saturday, September 17th, the sixth of nine rounds of the 2016 WEC will take place on the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) for Porsche it is the next stop on its title defense mission. The demanding track is known as the favorite of the modern Formula One circuits. High ambient temperatures can be expected and the timing for the race provides an extra challenge: The six-hour race will start at 5:00 p.m. (Central Time) with sunset being at 7:32 p.m. Porsche leads the manufacturers world championship after having won four races in 2016 Silverstone, Le Mans, the Nürburgring and Mexico City. It is the third season for the innovative Porsche 919 Hybrid. During this year s five championship rounds, Porsche has scored 201 points, Audi is second (158) and Toyota follows in third position (112). In the drivers world championship, this year s Le Mans winning trio of Romain Dumas (France), Neel Jani (Switzerland) and Marc Lieb (Germany) has extended its lead to 41 points ahead of the best placed Toyota drivers. The first Audi drivers follow in P3 with 74.5 points. The second Porsche works drivers crew of Timo Bernhard (Germany), Brendon Hartley (New Zealand) and Mark Webber (Australia) recently achieved two consecutive race wins and improved to fifth in the standings. The reigning World Champions have scored 53.5 points. The Weissach, Germany-developed Porsche 919 Hybrid competes in the highest category of the 31-car field, which is the class one Le Mans prototypes (LMP1). The two-time Le Mans winning car produces a system power of over 900 HP (662 kw). Its internal combustion engine is a ground breaking downsizing motor: the very compact two-liter V4 turbocharged gasoline engine drives the rear axle with almost 500 PS (368 Public Relations Department 9 of 26 Public Relations Department

kw). Two different energy recovery systems brake energy from the front and exhaust energy feed a lithium ion battery that, on command, passes on the energy to an E machine to power the front axle with an extra boost of over 400 PS (294 kw). Fritz Enzinger, Vice President LMP1. This year s World Championship has shown an extremely tight competition. These long distance WEC races are close battles on the highest sporting and technical levels right up to the very last minute. In Mexico the top four LMP1 cars qualified within threetenths of a second and after the race all three manufacturers had a crew on the podium. We are the hunted and by no means can we ease up in our title defense. Andreas Seidl, Team Principal. In 2015, our Porsche 919 Hybrids dominated in Austin, but this is not what we can expect to happen this year. Nevertheless, we believe that COTA s fast curves will suit our 919 well. Austin is always especially demanding for the drivers and the entire team. Practice sessions are late, the race goes on until 11:00 p.m. and normally it is very hot. Timo Bernhard, Driver, No. 1 Porsche Team Porsche 919 Hybrid. COTA, for me, is the most beautiful of all new circuits because it has a great mixture. Sector one is especially interesting. After the steep start-finish straight the first lefthander is a blind corner. Then some flowing esses follow. If you make a mistake there you suffer from it for a long time. In the first sector all the corners are somehow connected to each other. The middle sector offers good opportunities for overtaking under braking, and the last sector is very tight. You definitely have to position your car carefully. I m always looking forward to racing in the U.S. I did this for quite some years for Porsche and had a lot of success in the American Le Mans Series. I think the sports car culture in the States is great. Brendon Hartley, Driver, No. 1 Porsche Team Porsche 919 Hybrid. Austin is a great city that we all love returning to. COTA is my favorite of the new style F1 tracks, because it has a little bit of everything. We have good memories from our Public Relations Department 10 of 26 Public Relations Department

very dominant victory last year. After the race in Mexico, I went to meet my brother and a friend in the San Francisco area to be a tourist for a couple of days. Then focusing again on Austin: Sights are set on the middle step of the podium. Mark Webber, Driver, No. 1 Porsche Team Porsche 919 Hybrid. It s always good to race in America. In Austin my first experiences were in a Formula One car, which is a little bit more agile, especially in the first sector, but the biggest difference is that in a Grand Prix you don t have to deal with the permanent traffic of cars to lap. The track in Austin is very demanding and a beautiful one for our prototypes. Different to in Mexico City, at COTA the 919 can really open its speed up. I also love night racing. Our cars are able to do that and it creates a bit of a Le Mans feeling. Probably we will not be as dominant as in 2015 in Texas, but, of course, car crew number one wants to repeat last year s victory. COTA can be hard work in several regards. The temperatures are extreme and the weather can be very changeable as well. Romain Dumas, Driver, No. 2 Porsche Team Porsche 919 Hybrid. COTA is a great track with a nice atmosphere and good mixture of very fast curves, long straights and tighter corners it is like it is tailor made for our Le Mans prototype. After we were strong there the last two years, I hope we will be in good shape again this year. The weather conditions can be unpredictable. Two years ago we had a tremendous downpour. If it stays dry we have to be careful with tire wear. Neel Jani, Driver, No. 2 Porsche Team Porsche 919 Hybrid. In Texas we will be back at sea level and have more air to breathe. But the biggest challenge is the heat. At the moment it looks like we can expect 85 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius) or even more. Different to the Mexico City circuit, COTA is fast and flowing and I really like that. Last year our team was very strong in Austin, but we have seen the competition is getting tighter and tighter. Marc Lieb, Driver, No. 2 Porsche Team Porsche 919 Hybrid. Public Relations Department 11 of 26 Public Relations Department

The fast corners in the first and the last sectors make the Austin circuit a real high downforce one, and I think this should suit our car. Ambient temperatures and humidity are always extreme and tough for us drivers. In 2014 and 2015 the 919 Hybrid was very competitive in Texas. But in 2015 an electrical problem cost us the race win and ultimately the chance to fight for the drivers title. In 2014, we also had a technical problem. Therefore COTA is unfinished business for us and this year we want to make it onto the podium. Porsche 919 Hybrid COTA Facts and figures. - The six-hour race on the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is the sixth out of nine rounds of the 2016 WEC and starts on September 17 at 5:00 p.m. local time (midnight in Central Europe). - The official WEC App can be downloaded free of charge in its basic version and can be extended (not free of charge) by a live stream. Several live features, such as onboard cameras, timing and GPS tracking, are implemented in the Porsche Motorsport App (free of charge) and at porsche.com/fiawec. - In 2015, Jani/Lieb took pole position with an average lap time of 1:46.211 minutes. The overall fastest lap was done by Jani in 1:46.018 minutes. Hartley/Webber were second on the grid with a qualifying time of 1:46.375 minutes. (In the WEC the average of the respective best laps of two drivers counts for the grid position.) - Bernhard/Hartley/Webber won last year s race. After leading for a long time, Dumas/Jani/Lieb finished fifth in the LMP1 class. - A lap on the Formula One circuit in Austin, that was opened in 2012, is 3.43-miles (5.513 kilometers) and has 20 corners. The circuit goes anti clockwise. - At normal race speed (no safety car) the Porsche 919 Hybrid is due for refueling after every 31 laps at the latest. Public Relations Department 12 of 26 Public Relations Department

- Refueling and changing Michelin tires may only be done sequentially, not at the same time. Only four mechanics may work simultaneously when changing tires and may use only one wheel gun. That takes a lot longer than in Formula One, for example. - The drivers are normally only changed when new tires are needed. - A set of Michelin slick tires should ideally last two fuel tank fills. - The WEC efficiency regulations limit the amount of energy that can be used per lap. In Austin the Porsche 919 Hybrid can use 5.01 megajoule of electrical power from energy recovery systems and 1.411 kilograms or 0.51-gallons (1.930 liters) of gasoline. - These different types of tires can be used: three different compounds of slick tires for dry conditions, a hybrid tire (no profile either but softer cover) for mixed conditions and wet weather tires. 6.5 sets of dry weather tires are available per car for qualifying and the race.
