The RH 170 from TEREX O&K: 370 tonnes of productivity. This 21-m 3 excavator is remarkable for its extraordinary performance. Cycles of less than 30 seconds in hard rock and only 4 bucket loads for a 150-sht dump truck impress instantly while its high availability and little maintenance impress long term. With its RH 170, TEREX O&K has combined proven engineering with advanced technological developments on the basis of the worldwide acceptance for the RH 120 and RH 200 excavators. One special focus of attention has been to use reliable components from TEREX O&K s mining equipment range to achieve unbeatable availability. Additionally, many technological refinements have been incorporated to reduce maintenance and to lower operating costs per tonne loaded. These include i. e. integrated electronic system, Centry control on the engines, and optimized crawler components. The RH 170 s efficiency is also enhanced by TEREX O&K s TriPower geometry for extra crowd and digging forces, reduced wear, and less operator stress. Conformity with the EU machine directive permits the attachment of the CE sign. O&K was the first German manufacturer of excavators to be certified for compliance with DIN EN ISO 9001.

Deluxe operator environment boosts productivity. The operator controls encourage high outputs. The spacious cab affords outstanding all round visibility. At an eye level of 7 m above the ground, the operator not only has safe visibility on to the rock face and into the dump truck, he can also see the truck s turning area behind the excavator. Ergonomically designed, pneumatically cushioned, the seat can be adjusted with respect to pedals and joystick levers for relaxing work throughout the shift. BCS for exceptional reliability The Board Control System (BCS) monitors all the key functions of hydraulics, diesel engines and vital components. The information is displayed on the easy to read monitor of the neatly styled control column. Any irregularities are immediately indicated optically and acoustically so that serious damage can be prevented well in advance.

Rugged undercarriage with optimum stability. Backed by longstanding experience in rugged mining operations, TEREX O&K developed for its RH 170 an undercarriage that sets new standards in robustness and reduced maintenance. Special attention was directed at optimizing the flow of forces and the service-life of the crawler components. Wear zones were minimized, track pad geometry refined and wear area cross-section enlarged. The 3-stage hub-type planetary gear and two 2-speed hydraulic motors give the RH 170 a high degree of mobility. The hydraulic forces are reliably transferred to the undercarriage via a sealed slewing ring with internal ring gear. The roller races, internal ring gear and pinions are greased by a dual-circuit system. On-the-spot turning is possible by individual track drive control through high-duty drives coupled to planetary gearboxes. The entire undercarriage is virtually maintenance free. Sprockets and idlers are lifetime lubricated as are the track and support rollers. Wet multi-disk brakes, travel retarder and anticavitation valves assure trouble free operation. The gearbox and covered final drives are integrated within the crawler profile for protection against rocks.

Standard-setting electronics for extended availability and low operating costs. Integrated electronic system. The RH 170 is controlled and monitored by an integrated electronic system. The new PMS ll Pump Managing System and the EHSC Electrohydraulic Servo Control assure exceptional productivity and high work hours. Modern electronics enhance the RH 170 s efficiency. The switchgear cabinets are dust proof and ventilated through filters. Component accessibilityat its best Reliable long life engine performance. The two Cummins diesels together delivering 1492 kw are controlled by the Centry system. Besides good cold-starting properties, fuel efficiency, smoke reduction and excellent response on varying loads, one very important advantage, just as on the RH 200, is that major engine overhaul intervals are extended. The front section of the walk-through engine module allows easy access to major hydraulic components, e.g. pumps, filters and swing drives. Neat rugged pipework and cat walks for easy maintenance. Service-friendly design. Many details underscore the servicefriendly design of the RH 170. The walkthrough engine module is designed for excellent component accessibility. The new TEREX O&K hydraulic oil cooling concept allows operation at ambient temperatures of up to +64 C and oil change intervals extended to 5,000 hours. The dual-circuit lubrication system is activated automatically via an adjustable sequencing control with time relay. The hydraulically driven grease pump supplies all of the equipment bearing points, the slewing ring races, and the internal ring gear and pinions. Grease filters protect the system from contamination. Fan speeds of radiators and oil coolers are temperature controlled. Service at its best. The TEREX O&K service concept is impressive not only for its highly skilled onsite service team plus spare and service parts availability of up to 97 percent but also for the unexcelled service communications system between sites and the specialists at the works. In this way it is possible to call up all the operating data of the excavator from Germany. This reduces downtime risks and boosts productivity.
