Please carefuly follow steps descirbed in installation manual! Wrong connection of STS wires to motorcycle may cause damage of STS device! Every STS device is equipt with chip which indicates false connection. If chip shows wrong connection, warranty is void. This installation manual is for motorcycles with flasher and mechanical (latching) switch (Most motorcycles except for Ducati, BMW and few other motorcycles with electrical switch for those please choose electronic version manual) Before installation please check if you have mechanic turn signal switch (latching): 1. Turn off your motorcycle; 2. Press left or right turn signal switch; 3. Turn on your motorcycle > if turn signal is blinking you have a mechanical version! We strongly advise STS system installation is made only by authorized person! Please read installation manual before installation process! Pictures in installation manuals are illustrative! Power supply must be taken from ACC wire (ignition 12 V), not permanent 12 V from battery. 2

Tools needed: Phillips, Torx and Imbus Screwdriver Pliers Cutting Pliers Tweezers Crimping pliers 1. In order to install STS you have to connect STS unit to following wires: Left turn signal wire Right turn signal wire Flasher Ground Power supply 2. Locate wires listed above and follow them from left handlebar switch to connector 3

3. Find a spot for STS device (black box) STS unit has 50 cm (20 inch) of cable so it has to be located near listed wires Spot for STS device has to be flat and fairly horizontal STS device has to be attached to housing, not on the handle bar (not even on rudder or any other moving part) It is advised to connect STS device with zip tie, so try to find a spot that allows this and attach it firmly It is recommended that the module be mounted in a location not subject to extreme heat conditions Sticker with the STS Logo must look up Arrow in the STS Logo must point in the driving direction (forward) If necessary add velcro or double side tape (not included in the package) 4. When you have located wires and find a spot for STS device remove approximately 10 cm (4 inch) of primary cable isolation 4

5. Locate: Left turn signal, Right turn signal, Flasher (Reset), ACC (Power supply) and GND (Ground) wire STS Please note that chart is universal based on gathered data from manufacturer and wires on your motorcycle might be different Please check colors in wiring diagram for your exact motorcycle. This can be found in service manual, online or ask your local mechanic STS device has 8 wires and you have to connect each of them to corresponding wire on your motorcycle Motorcycle Power supply (+12V) Red Color 1 Ground (GND) Black Color 2 OUTPUT (wire to connector): Right output Yellow Color 3 Left output Blue Color 4 Flasher output Green Color 5 INPUT (wire from handlebar): Right input White Color 3 Left input Brown Color 4 Flasher input Purple Color 5 6. Powe supply wires: 6.1. Snap Violet Tap connector to ACC (Power supply) wire (we recommend position lamp, DRL or any other 12 V power source from ignition 12 V, not permanent 12 V from battery) 5

6.2. Snap Violet Tap connector to GND wire 7. Turn signals wires: 7.1. Cut left turn signal, right turn signal and flasher relay wire 6

7.2. Strip cutted wires 7.3. Wires are now stripped 7.4. On motorcycle connector side of wires insert FEMALE crimp bullet connectors 7

7.5. Crimp inserted female connectors 7.6. On handlebar switch side of wires insert MALE crimp bullet connectors 7.7. Crimp inserted male connectors 8

8. IMPORTANT! Before inserting STS wires to connectors: INPUT are part of wires coming from handlebar switch OUTPUT are part of wires going to connector 9. WIRING SCHEME BEFORE STS INSTALLATION 10. WIRING SCHEME OF STS INSTALLATION Wrong connection of STS wires to motorcycle may cause damage of STS device! Warranty is void! 9

10.1. Insert STS wires with Faston connectors to violet Tap connectors in following way: BLACK STS wire to GND (Ground) RED STS wire to Power supply (+12V) 10.2. Insert STS wires with red bullet connectors in following way: BLUE STS wire to Flasher signal OUTPUT (IMPORTANT! do not mix up INPUT and OUTPUT) YELLOW STS wire to Right indicator OUTPUT GREEN STS wire to Left indicator OUTPUT Do not connect other three wires. 10.3. Turn ignition on (or start your motorcycle), watch carefully on turn signals. After aprox 1 sec you will see turn signals blink for short time. Continue to next step (step 10.4.) If that does not happen, please repeat 2 or 3 times. If you are sure turn signals did not blink, please check power supply, if that still does not work please check your wiring or see troubleshooting (step 15.). 10.4. Insert remaning STS wires with red bullet connectors in following way: WHITE STS wire to Right indicator INPUT BROWN STS wire to Flasher signal INPUT PURPLE STS wire to Left indicator INPUT 10

11. Attach STS unit (black box) to motorcycle housing Spot for STS device has to be flat and fairly horizontal STS device has to be attached to housing, not on the handle bar (not even on rudder or any other moving part) It is advised to connect STS device with zip tie, so try to find a spot that allows this and attach it firmly It is recommended that the module be mounted in a location not subject to extreme heat conditions Sticker with the STS Logo must look up Arrow in the STS Logo must point in the driving direction (forward) If necessary add velcro or double side tape (not included in the package) 12. Modify turn signal switch to momentary 12.1. Objective of modifying the turn signal switch is to convert mechanical (latching) switch into a momentary switch. 12.2. Loosen the screws that clamp on to the handlebar. 12.3. Four foams are supplied with the package - two big and two small sized foams. Smaller foams are perfect fit for most motorcycle switches, based on our experience. Bigger foams Smaller foams There are two basic types of left handlebar switches (LHS): Type 1: Type 2: Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Triumph, (Switch may vary in visual appearance from the outside.) Scooters, Mopeds 11

Type 1 LHS There are two basic variations of Type 1 LHS: Open 1 LHS or Covered 1 LHS. Open 1 LHS: Open switch: Same switch from different angle: Insert smaller foams into cavities with tweezers. As you move the leaver from side to side, plastic slider moves from one side to another. Left side: Right side: 12

Covered 1 LHS: Switch may vary in visual appearance from inside Loosen the screw(s) (highlighted with red circle), remove the covering and you will find two cavities where foams have to be inserted. Insert smaller foams into cavities with tweezers. As you move the leaver from side to side, the plastic slider moves from one side to another. Left side: Right side: After inserting the foam plugs, make sure the switch has full motion, but does not stay in the position. Reassemble the LHS back to the handlebar. 13

Type 2 LHS These kinds of switches are mostly used on smaller bikes (scooters, mopeds). Disassemble the switch from handlebar. Remove top plastic cover by removing it with a screwdriver. Your switch should look like this: Take the bigger foam included in the package and slice it into two pieces like shown in the picture below: Whole big foam --> bigger piece + smaller piece Insert the smaller piece of foam into the smaller cavity and the bigger piece into the bigger cavity: After inserting the foam plugs, make sure the switch has full motion but does not stay in the position. Reassemble the cover and LHS back to the handlebar. 14

13. Test STS unit 13.1. First try Device has to be completely steady Turn ignition on (or start your motorcycle), watch carefully on turn signals After aprox 1 sec you will see turn signals blink for short time (1 blink) If that does not happen, please turn egnition on 2 or 3 times more/again If you are sure turn signals did not blink, please check power supply, if that still does not work please check your wiring or see troubleshooting 13.2. If your turn signals blinked, connect also purple, white and brown wire and proceed to next step (step 13.3) 13.3. Testing procedure Start your motorcycle and wait for few seconds Press left indicator and wait for 30 second Press left indicator again to cancel turn signal Repeat procedure for right turn signal If procedure works as described, poceed to nex step (step 14.) 14. Colours listed in chart above are informative and may not be same on your motorcycle. Please check in service manual or ask your local mechanic. 15

15. Troubleshooting: Wait 30s with ignition on. Take away ignition and put ignition again on. Check Power supply wire (+ 12 V DC and GND) for propper connection Check if STS Device (black box with logo) is steady. If you don't see blink in previous steps, connect midle (flasher relay) male faston bullet on the motorcycle wires to right or left male faston bullet on motorcycle wires. o If you see blinks now, you have put wrong connectors to wrong side of cutted cables. User manual When you push left or right turn signal leaver, turn signals will start blinking If you want to cancel turn signal, push to same side again After each manoeuvre STS cancels turn signals in compliance with road rules STS recognizes and differentiate: o Left or right turn o Changing lane o Roundabout o Overtaking STS recognizes when you are standing still and will not turn off turn signals If STS doesn't turn off after maneuver, timer will turn off turn signals after 15 seconds of driving Operating voltage: 12 V (DC) Power consumption: 250 mw 17. Damage made on motorcycle due to improper installation and/or improper use of Smart Turn System. Turn signals not blinking due to improper installation or calibration. Smart Turn System not canceling turn signals after the end of maneuver or turn signals canceling prematurely (during drive/before maneuver is completed). Smart Turn System is a device that assist motorcyclist to cancel turn signals after the end of maneuver. Smart Turn System can detect maneuver and cancels turn signal after the maneuver 16

is completed. Due to various driving styles and motorcycle types company ABCS sistem d.o.o. can take no responsibility if Smart Turn System doesn t detect maneuver and consequently doesn t cancel turn signal after any maneuver. Furthermore ABCS sistem d.o.o. can take no responsibility if turn signals are canceled prematurely. Correct turn signal usage is motorcyclist responsibility and STS device is meant only to assist rider with turn signal cancellation. 18. Improper installation or operation of Smart Turn System Smart Turn System device has to be installed according to ABCS sistem installation manual. If you are not sure about any part of installation manual or/and your motorcycle wiring scheme please contact ABCS sistem d.o.o. at support@safer-turn.com. 19. Warranty Limited Warranty applies to physical goods, and only for physical goods, purchased from ABCS Sistem d.o.o. (the "Physical Goods"). Limited Warranty covers any defects in material or workmanship under normal use during the Warranty Period. During the Warranty Period, ABCS Sistem d.o.o. will repair or replace, at no charge, products or parts of a product that proves defective because of improper material or workmanship, under normal use and maintenance. ABCS Sistem d.o.o. will either repair the Product at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts. The Warranty Period for Physical Goods purchased from ABCS Sistem d.o.o. is 365 days from the date that the product was shipped. A replacement Physical Good or part assumes the remaining warranty of the original Physical Good or 180 days from the date of replacement or repair, whichever is longer. This Limited Warranty does not cover any problem that is caused by: conditions; malfunctions or damage not resulting from defects in material or workmanship.
