Falcon-kapploeë Die Falcon-kapploeg is die mees doeltreffende werktuig om enjinkrag sonder enige wielglip en n groot verlies aan transmissiekrag direk na die grond te verplaas. Die kapploeg vereis minder omgange om n perfekte saadbedding te skep. Dit is die ideale implement vir kontantgewasboere wat oesreste vinnig tussen aanplantings moet begrawe en inwerk. Die rotor draai teen die optimum spoed vir alle grondbewerkingsoperasies en die vereiste bewerking kan deur verstelling van die vorentoespoed en die agterste deflektor verkry word. Lemme kan in die drie-lem-konfigurasie gemonteer word vir fyn bewerking, of in die twee-lem-konfigurasie vir n growwer afwerking. Die kapploeg is n veelsydige implement wat vir saadbedding-skepping, groen bemesting, onkruidverwydering en stoppelbewerking gebruik kan word. Falcon-kapploeë is vir trekkers van 35 tot 60 kw ontwerp, en daar is vier verskillende modelle. Die kleinste model is die F125, met n werkswydte van 1,28 m (35 60 kw). Die F150 se werkswydte is 1,53 m (42 60 kw) en dié van die F175-model 1,75 m (45 60 kw). Die grootste kapploeg is die F200met n werkswydte van 2,03 m (48 60 kw). Saadbeddingvormers is ook in al bogenoemde groottes beskikbaar. Alle implemente word voorsien met n kragaftakker-as en wringkragbeperkende glykoppelaar, sentrale en kontramonteringspunte, dieptebeheer-glyplate, n parkeerstaander en n volledige stel lemme. Elke Falcon-implement is ontwerp om eenvoudig, veilig en diensbaar te wees en uitstekende waarde vir geld te bied. Falcon-implemente word gebou om te hou en om ons strawwe Suid-Afrikaanse toestande die hoof te bied. Falcon Rotavators The Falcon Rotavator is the most efficient means of transmitting engine power directly to the soil with no wheel slip and with a major reduction in transmission power loss. The rotavator will produce a perfect seedbed in fewer passes. It is the ideal implement for cash crop farmers who need to bury and incorporate crop residues quickly, between crops. The rotor turns at the optimum speed for all cultivation operations and the required tilth can be obtained by adjusting the forward speed and the setting of the rear deflector. Blades can be mounted in the threebladed configuration for a fine tilth or in the two-bladed configuration for a coarser finish. It is a versatile implement that can be used to create seedbeds, for green manuring as well as for weeding and stubble-mulching Falcon Rotavators are designed to suit tractors from 35 to 60 kw. There are four different models, the smallest being the F125 with a working width of 1,28 m (35 60 kw). The F150 has a working width of 1,53 m (42 60 kw). The F175 s working width is 1,75 m (45 60 kw) and the largest rotavator is the F200 with a working width of 2,03 m (48 60 kw). Bedformers are also available in all the above-mentioned sizes. All implements are supplied with a PTO shaft and torque-limiting slip-clutch, central and offset mounting points, depth control skids, a parking stand and a complete set of blades. All Falcon implement are designed to be simple, safe and serviceable, offering excellent value for money. They are built to last and are capable of coping with the difficult South African conditions. Applications for the rotary cultivator include: a. seedbeds from coarse to fine, on uncultivated, ripped or ploughed soil b. green manuring c. fertiliser incorporation d. weeding e. stubble-mulching f. planting kikuyu grass g. preparing playing fields h. landscaping i. soil stabilisation for roads. Please read the following installation, safety and routine maintenance instructions very carefully. Should you be in any doubt as to the correct operating or maintenance procedure, please contact your dealer, or us, and we will gladly assist you. Installation and Safety It is essential that you adhere to the steps listed below. To ignore them will shorten the life of your Falcon implement and result in unnecessary expense. 1. FILL THE GEARBOX AND CHAINCASE WITH OIL TO THE CORRECT LEVEL Fill the gearbox to the correct level with good-quality gearbox oil. We recommend Fuchs Renep 1000, but EP90 can be used for topping up. The Falcon Rotavator gearbox is fitted with a dipstick and should be filled to the mark on the dipstick. Ensure that the breather hole on the rotavator gearbox dipstick is kept clean to avoid blockages. 2. Die kettingkas is toegerus met n vulprop en n vlakprop. Hoe om die regte as-lengte te bereken en die as te sny word duidelik in die kragaftakkeras-handleiding beskryf. Verwys dus asseblief na daardie handleiding (veral bladsye 39 en 97 100) voordat u die as sny. 2. The chain case has a filler plug and a level plug. Open both plugs and fill until oil runs out of the level plug. DO NOT overfill, as this can cause overheating and damage to the seals. CHECK THAT THE PTO SHAFT IS CORRECTLY SUITED TO YOUR TRACTOR The PTO shaft may have to be cut to the correct length to suit your tractor/falcon combination. Too long a shaft can result in serious damage to your tractor, the rotavator, or the PTO shaft when the implement is either raised or lowered. Cutting the shaft too short may result in you not being able to use it or, if the overlap is too short, the shaft might, when under power, start to vibrate, break or tear open, causing damage to the implement and tractor and injury to the operator. The process of cutting the PTO and the calculation to establish the correct length are clearly described in the PTO manual, so please refer to this handbook, especially pages 39 and 97-100, before cutting the PTO shaft. Before using your tractor/falcon combination ensure that the tractor s hydraulic 3-point linkage control lever is set to the correct height so that it does not pick up the Falcon implement too high, as this will result in damage to the PTO shaft. GLYKOPPELAAR WERKING EN INSTANDHOUDING Alle Falcon-kapploeë is met n glykoppelaar toegerus. Dit is tot die korrekte wringkrag gestel, sodat dit onder oormatige ladings kan gly en jou implement teen permanente meganiese skade kan beskerm. Indien dit vir lang periodes oorlaai word, sal die glykoppelaar gly en oortollige hitte weens wrywing genereer. Tekens van oormatige gly is rook, brandreuke of poeierreste in die omgewing van die glykoppelaar, of verkleuring van die glykoppelaareenheid. Onder normale werkstoestande moet die temperatuur van die glykoppelaareenheid dus nie warmer wees as die temperatuur van die implement se ratkas nie. Die glykoppelaar sal dalk in geval van die volgende opgeknap moet word: die wrywingplate is geslyt of uitgebrand vanweë langdurige oorlading ghries, olie of diesel het die glykoppelaarmeganisme gekontamineer die implement het lank gestaan, wat die waarskynlikheid van roes in die glykoppelaarmeganisme kan verhoog. Wanneer die glykoppelaar opgeknap word, verseker dat slegs oorspronklike onderdele gebruik word soos op bladsy 16-17 van hierdie handleiding uiteengesit. Gebruik altyd die veer-instellings wat in die tabel hier onder aangedui word om akkurate verstelling te verseker. Draai elke keermoer agtereenvolgens met n halfdraai totdat die betrokke instelling bereik is. It is essential that the two crosses of the shaft are fully greased initially and kept greased thereafter. Ensure that the grease pushes out of all four cups, of each cross, every time it is greased. Also grease the two sliding tubes. SLIP-CLUTCH OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE All Falcon Rotavators are fitted with a slip-clutch. This is required to slip under excessive load at a specific pre-set torque in order to prevent permanent mechanical damage to the implement. If overloaded for sustained periods the slip-clutch will slip and generate excess heat through friction. Excessive slipping may be detected through smoke, burning odours or powder residues in the vicinity of the slip-clutch, or discoloration of the slip-clutch assembly. So under normal operating conditions the slip-clutch assembly temperature should not exceed that of the temperature of the implement s gearbox. The slip-clutch may need to be overhauled in the event of any of the following: the friction plates are worn or burned out due to sustained overloading the slip-clutch mechanism has become contaminated by grease, oil or diesel the implement has stood for an extended period, increasing the likelihood of corrosion in the slip-clutch mechanism. When overhauling the slip-clutch, be sure to use only original parts as listed on page 16-17 of this manual. Apply the spring preload settings indicated in the table below to ensure accurate adjustment. Tighten each retaining nut successively by one half-turn until the relevant setting is achieved. The rotavator should be raised to just above ground level and then the tractor PTO engaged. Once engaged, the rpm should be increased to 540 before starting work and then maintained at that level while working. Failing to do this will increase the torque levels on both the tractor and the rotavator, resulting in a shorter slip-clutch life.

ADJUST THE TRACTOR TOP LINK TO THE CORRECT LENGTH It is important to adjust your tractor top-link so that the implement topmast is in the vertical position when the implement is in a working position. This will allow the implement to run on its full skid-runner length, ensuring a uniform working height when running over uneven lands. This will also help to ensure that the PTO shaft does not come into contact with the front of the implement when it is in the raised position. However, should the PTO shaft still touch the implement, limit the height by setting the stop on the hydraulic control level. CHECK AND TIGHTEN ALL BOLTS Check that all bolts are fully tightened before use and then again after the first few hours of use. It is very important that the blade bolts are checked and tightened frequently. CHECK AND ADJUST CHAIN TENSION Remove the plug in the rear of the chain case. It should be possible to move the chain approximately 2 cm. Adjust if necessary by slackening the lock-nut and turning the adjuster bolt by hand. TAKE NOTE OF THE SAFETY RULES Please instruct your driver to adhere to the following rules: Do not get off the tractor while it is running, and ensure that the tractor is turned off before making adjustments. When working under the implement changing blades or tightening bolts, lower the frame on to a stand or a prop or on to the ground. It is preferable to use the parking stand with the depth-control skids in their lowest position to park the rotavator. Carry out all maintenance while the unit is separated from the tractor. Be aware of any obstruction such as stumps, stones, bottles, tins, etc. Remove these from the field before starting work, or at least avoid them. Discourage spectators and never carry passengers. Do not allow anyone to walk near the rotavator while it is operating. Operate the tractor in such a way that you establish and maintain the optimum PTO speed of approximately 540 rpm. Too low a speed will overload the drive-shaft system. Too high a PTO speed will make the operation dangerous. Do not allow anyone to put their hands or feet under the rotavator while the tractor is running. Do not remove the protective covers around the PTO shaft or flaps provided on the implement. Routine Maintenance DAILY CHECKS Check that all bolts, nuts and screws are tight. Checking the bolts and nuts on the blades is particularly important. Check the level of the gearbox and chain case oil and top up to the correct level. Check for gearbox oil leaks. It should be noted that no guarantee claim can be submitted on a gearbox that has run dry. It is therefore essential that the gearbox is kept correctly filled with oil. Grease the PTO shaft. Check that the two bolts holding the slip-clutch are tight, as a loose slip-clutch will eventually cause the input shaft to break off. Check the wear on the blades. Replace when they are worn down too far. We recommend that you keep at least two sets of blades, bolts, nuts as spares for your Falcon Rotavator. REGULAR CHECKS Drain and change the oil in your gearbox and chain case at the end of each season. Check chain tension (15 20 mm) and adjust if necessary. Check that the slip-clutch is set to the correct tension and adjust if not. Check the wear and tear on the spring steel skid-runners, and replace if necessary. Clean down and touch up any rust spots that may have appeared. Operating Instructions Ensure that the installation procedure has been carried out correctly. Hitch the rotavator to the tractor in either the in-line or the offset position. In the offset position the rotavator cultivates to the outside of the right-hand tractor wheel to give a level seed bed with no wheel tracks when the ground is worked in a clockwise direction. Adjust the tractor linkage check-chains to restrict the sideways movement. Set the working depth by adjusting both skids to the required working depth. In case of offset position, the right-hand skid is normally raised so that it is about 25 mm above the worked ground. Adjust the trailing flaps to give the required tilth: fully down for a fine tilth and fully raised for a coarse tilth. To start work, lower the rotavator until the blades are just clear of the ground and engage the PTO drive. Bladsy/ Page 8

The faster the forward speed, the coarser the tilth. Do not attempt to operate with the tractor in neutral. Increase the engine speed to give the correct PTO speed. Engage the transmission clutch and as the tractor moves forward, lower the rotavator all the way down so that the working depth is governed by the depth skid and not by the tractor hydraulics. After the first few metres, stop the tractor and make any adjustments or settings to the rotavator that may be required to give a perfect finish. If you have a problem, check the list on page 10 to find the possible cause. Make only one adjustment at a time in the order listed in each section.
