Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation. These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document. This document covers such items as:- Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.). Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.). Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.). Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.). Please see your Toyota dealer for a copy of this document. Fig. 1-1 10mm Socket Negative Battery Cable 1. Vehicle Disassembly. (a) Place Automatic Vehicles in low gear with the parking brake set. (b) Remove the negative battery cable. (Fig. 1-1) (1) Protect the fender before starting. (2) Note the Cable Position as it will be reinstalled in the same position. CAUTION: Do not touch the positive terminal. Nylon Panel Removal Tool Nut Cowl Cover Foot Rest (c) Remove the driver side foot rest, and the driver side step cover. (Fig. 1-2) (1) Cover the floor and seats before starting. NOTE: The foot rest can be easily damaged. Step Cover Fig. 1-2 (d) Remove driver side cowl cover. (Fig. 1-2) (1) Remove the nut securing the cowl cover. Nylon Panel Removal Tool, 10 mm Socket Lower Dash Cover M/T MODELS Cover FOR M/T VEHICLE MODELS ONLY. (Steps e-g) (e) Remove the small cover from the lower dash cover s right side. (Fig. 1-3) (f) Remove the hood release cable. (Fig. 1-3) (g) Remove the lower dash cover. Nylon Panel Removal Tool, 10mm Socket Lower Dash Cover A/T MODELS Cover FOR A/T VEHICLE MODELS ONLY. (Steps h-j) (h) Remove the small cover from the lower dash cover s right side. (Fig. 1-4) (i) Remove the hood release cable. (Fig. 1-4) Fig. 1-4 Hood Release Lever Bolt Bolt (j) Remove the lower dash cover. (Fig. 1-4) (1) Open the screw cover of the lower dash cover. (2) Remove the two bolts securing the cover. 10mm Socket Bolt (x3) (k) Remove the metal substructure. (Fig. 1-5) (1) Remove 3 bolts. CAUTION: Sharp metal edges. Fig. 1-5 Metal Substructure Screw Phillips Screwdriver Screw (l) Remove the two screws securing the lower steering column cover behind the steering wheel. (Fig. 1-6) (1) Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to ON to unlock the steering wheel. (2) Turn the steering wheel left and right to gain access to the screws. Fig. 1-8 Nylon Panel Removal Tool Masking Tape Center Cluster Panel (n) Attach the low adhesion masking tape on the center cluster panel, as shown. (Fig. 1-8) CAUTION: Only apply tape on the Center Cluster Panel surface. (o) Using the Nylon Panel Removal Tool, remove the center cluster panel. (Fig. 1-8) (1) Loosen the four clips when removing the panel. (2) Disconnect all connectors from the panel. 10mm Socket Audio Unit (p) Remove the audio unit. (Fig. 1-9) (1) Remove 4 bolts. (2) Disconnect all connectors from the audio unit. NOTE: Prior to removing the radio assembly from the dash, cover the radio mounting tabs with a cloth to prevent damage to the vehicle. (From Center Cluster Area to Driver Side Cowl Area) Steering Wheel (a) Locate and disconnect the white 8P connector from the ignition switch in the steering column area. (Fig. 2-1) Fig. 2-1 Large Wire Tie Ignition Switch 8P (White) (b) Plug in the V5 harness' white 8P connectors between the ignition switch and the vehicle harness' white 8P connector. (Fig. 2-5) (1) Align the V5 harness branch point to the end of the corrugated tube of the vehicle harness. Fig. 2-5 medium Wire Ties (x5) V5 Harness (g) Route the V5 harness' white wire terminal, white 2P connector and white 10P connectors behind the brace down toward the driver side cowl area as shown. Fig. 2-7 Vehicle s 10P (White) Tape Vehicle s 12P (White) (h) Locate the vehicle s white 12P connector in the driver side cowl area, and remove the electrical tape from the vehicle s white 12P connector, then disconnect it for clearance. (Fig. 2-7) (i) Locate the hole in the driver side cowl area, then pull out the vehicle harness white 10P connector and disconnect it. (Fig. 2-7) Tape 12P (White) (j) Plug the V5 harness' white 10P connectors between the vehicle harness' white 10P connectors, then insert the white 10P connectors into the hole in the driver side cowl area. (Fig. 2-8) 2P (White) Fig. 2-8 10P (White) WHITE Wire Terminal (1) Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. (k) Reconnect the vehicle harness white 12P connector and secure it to the vehicle harness using electrical tape. (Fig. 2-8) Tape Combination Connector Connector Block (l) Locate and disconnect the combination connector from the connector block in the driver side cowl area. (Fig. 2-9) 2P (White) WHITE Wire Terminal Fig. 2-9 Jeweler s Screwdriver 8P (White) Combination Connector (m) Using a small jeweler's screwdriver, release and pull out the white 8P connector from the combination connector. (Fig. 2-10) (1) Turn the connectors so the pins face you. Fig. 2-10 Page 7 of 21 pages

Fig. 2-11 Jeweler's Screwdriver, ECU Pin Removal Tool Combination Connector Retainer Vehicle Harness' WHITE Wire Terminal 8P (White) WIRE SIDE VIEW (n) Using a small jeweler's screwdriver, lift up the terminal retainer on the back of the 8P connector. Locate the WHITE wire in the 8P connector. Using the ECU pin remover tool or a small jeweler s screwdriver, release and pull out the terminal for the WHITE wire. (Fig. 2-11) (1) Do not pull out the retainer. (2) Turn the connector so the wires face you and the retainer is on top. Retainer WHITE Wire Terminal Fig. 2-12 Jeweler's Screwdriver 2P (Female) WIRE SIDE VIEW Combination Connector 8P (White) Retainer (o) Insert the terminal at the end of the V5 harness' WHITE wire into the seventh space from the left of the 8P connector, then close the retainer. Refit the white 8P connector to the combination connector. (Fig. 2-12) (1) Turn the connector so the wires face you and the retainer is on top. (2) Verify the correct opening is chosen. (3) Verify the terminal is inserted and seated properly. The terminal should not come out when pulled lightly from the back. If the terminal comes off, then push it in again. (p) Disconnect the empty 2P female connector plugged into the V5 harness. Using a small jeweler's screwdriver, lift up the terminal retainer on the back of the empty 2P connector. (Fig. 2-13) (1) Do not pull out the retainer. Fig. 2-13 2P (Female) Retainer Fig. 2-14 Vehicle Harness' WHITE Wire Terminal Retainer 2P (Female) WHITE WIRE SIDE VIEW (q) Insert the terminal at the end of the vehicle harness' WHITE wire into the right side opening of the empty 2P connector as shown, then close the retainer. (Fig. 2-14) (1) Turn the connector so the wires face you and the tab is on top. (2) Verify the correct opening is chosen. (3) Verify the terminal is inserted and seated properly. The terminal should not come out when pulled lightly from the back. If the terminal comes off, then push it in again. Page 8 of 21 pages

Combination Connector 2P (White) (r) Plug in the V5 harness' white 2P male connector to the white 2P female connector, and reconnect the combination connector. (Fig. 2-15) (1) Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. 10P (White) (s) Wrap the white 10P connectors in one small foam tape strip. (Fig. 2-15) Fig. 2-15 Small Foam Tape Strip 2P (White) Combination Connector (t) Secure the white 10P connectors to the vehicle harness using one medium wire tie. (Fig. 2-16) 10P (White) Fig. 2-16 Medium Wire Ties (x2) (u) Bundle the excess V5 harness, then using one medium wire tie, secure the 2P connectors and V5 harness as shown. (Fig. 2-16) Small Foam Tape Strips (2x) Fig. 3-1 Vehicle's Brace M/T MODELS Brake Shaft 3. Installation. (From Center Cluster Area to Passenger Side Cowl Area) FOR M/T VEHICLE MODELS ONLY. (Step a) (a) Attach two small foam tape strips to the vehicle's brace as shown. (Fig. 3-1) (1) (1) Do not attach anything to the brake shaft. A/T MODELS FOR A/T VEHICLE MODELS ONLY. Grabber Tool (c) Route the V5 harness toward the center cluster area using the grabber tool. (Fig. 3-3) Fig. 3-3 Brake Shaft Grabber Tool (1) Insert the grabber tool from the center cluster area and push it toward the driver side upper brake shaft area. (2) Catch the V5 harness 10P connectors using the grabber tool, then pull it back toward the center cluster area. Tool (d) Secure the V5 harness relay to the vehicle brace with one large wire tie. (Fig. 3-4) Large Wire Tie Relay Fig. 3-4 large Wire Ties (x3) (e) Route the V5 harness toward the passenger side glove box area. (Fig. 3-5) 14P (White) (f) Route the V5 s 4P black connector downward and out of the open knockout location. (Fig. 3-5) 4P (Black) (g) Secure the V5 harness to the vehicle harness with 3 large wire ties. (Fig. 3-5) Fig. 3-5 4P (Black) (h) Connect the 4P connector to the Status monitor / Microphone. (j) Pull the excess back up into the Center Console Area and secure it with 1 large wire tie to the Vehicle Harness. (Fig. 3-7) large Wire Tie Fig. 3-7 14P (White) Large Wire Tie (k) Plug in the V5 14P male connector to the vehicle 14P female connector. Bundle the excess portion of the vehicle harness, then secure the V5 harness and vehicle harness with 1 large Wire Tie. (Fig. 3-8) (1) Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. (Fig. 3-9) (m) Route the V54 harness behind the reinforcement fixation securing it with 1 large Wire Tie. Medium Wire Ties (x3) 4P (White) (o) Plug in the V5 harness' white 4P male connector to the vehicle harness' white 4P female connector. Secure the V5 harness and white 4P connectors to the vehicle harness with three medium wire ties. (Fig. 3-11) (1) Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. Fig. 3-11, Flat blade Jewelers Screwdriver Vehicle's Clip (p) Route and secure the V5 harness to the vehicle harness with two medium wire ties and the vehicle's wire clip. (Fig. 3-14) (s) Locate the hole in the passenger side cowl area, then pull out the vehicle harness inner white 10P connector and disconnect it. (Fig. 3-14)

(u) Insert V5 grey 11P connectors between the vehicle grey 11P connector and the connector block. (Fig. 3-15) (v) Place the inner white 10P connectors in the concave spot of the cowl area. (Fig. 3-15) (w) Reconnect the vehicle outer 10P connector and secure to the vehicle harness using 1 small Foam Tape. (Fig. 3-15) (x) Reconnect the vehicle s outer white 10P connector and secure it to the vehicle harness using the electrical tape. (Fig. 3-16) (y) Secure the V5 harness to the vehicle harness with two medium wire ties. (Fig. 3-16) (z) Secure the white 11P connectors to the vehicle harness with one large wire tie. For US Vehicles use the English Labels and Tag, and discard the Spanish Tags and Labels. For Mexico Vehicles use the Spanish Labels and Tag, and discard the English Tags and Labels. (a) Using Household Windex, clean the inside of the Front Door Windows. (Fig. 5-1) (b) Place the Window Labels on the inside of the Front Door Windows as shown. (Fig. 5-1) (1) Use a piece of clean adhesive tape to lift the Labels off their protective backing. CAUTION: Do not touch the adhesive surface. Line Up With Bottom of Other Label 1-5mm Warning Label (1) Line up the Labels properly and place on the Glass. Do not attempt to reposition the Labels once they and place. (1) Prior to replacing the radio assembly into the dash, cover the radio mounting tabs with a cloth to prevent damage to the vehicle. (2) Reconnect any disconnected connectors. (3) Verify the panels fit together properly with no uneven gaps between them. (b) Clean up and remove any trash. Arm and disarm the system with the remote again, then wait 30 seconds. Press and release the remote control s unlock button again to stop the arming process. Insert the key into the driver s door key cylinder and turn it toward the front of the vehicle to start the arming process. Wait 30 seconds. 1. The turn signal lights flash once. All doors lock. The Status Monitor s LED lights up. 2. After 30 seconds, the LED starts flashing; the system is now armed. 3. The turn signal lights flash twice. The driver s door unlocks. The LED stops flashing. The interior lights turn on. 4. The doors automatically relock. The system automatically starts the arming process. 5. Refer to step number 3. 6. All doors lock. The LED lights up. 7. With the door open, press the lock switch on the door to lock the doors, and then close the door to start the system's arming process. Wait 30 seconds. Reach inside and manually unlock the front passenger's door to trigger an alarm. 9. The driver's door lock attempts to lock repeatedly. The horn continues to sound repeatedly. The headlights, turn signal lights continue flashing. The LED remains on. The interior lights remain on. 10. The horn stops sounding. All the lights stop flashing and/or turn off. The LED turns off. The starter cranks and the engine starts. 11. All doors lock. The LED lights up. 12. After 30 seconds, the LED starts flashing; the system is now armed. 13. The front passenger's door relocks.
