LS6580V2M- INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS INSTALLATION AND LOCATION: Locate the compressor in a dry, clean and well ventilated area. The compressor should be located no closer than 2 to 8 inches from a wall or any other obstruction that would interfere with the air flow through the fan. Place the compressor on a firm level surface. Rotation of the flywheel must be in the direction of the arrow cast into the flywheel. Satisfactory removal of the heated air must be ensured, if necessary, by installing exhaust fans. Before turning the equipment on, check oil. For type of oil see table at the end of these instructions. DISCHARGE SIZE BSP /2" Turn equipment off and make sure that air receiver has no pressure, before starting maintenance. These instructions are based on normal operating conditions. If the compressor is located in an extremely dusty area, increase the frequency of all inspections. DAILY: Check compressor visually. Check oil level and add oil as required. Drain moisture from tank. Check for any unusual noise or vibration. Remove and clean or replace intake air filters. Do not wash element. WEEKLY: Check V-belts for tightness. Belt tension should be adjusted to allow approximately 3/8 - /2 inch deflection with normal thumb pressure. Clean foreign material from cylinder head, motor, fan blade, air lines, intercooler and tank. Safety valve should be tested manually to see that it does not stick. MONTHLY: Inspect entire air system for leaks. Check oil for contamination and change if necessary. QUARTERLY: Check entire system for air leakage around fittings, etc. using a soap solution. Tighten nuts and cap screws as required. Change oil more frequently, if compressor is located in a very dirty environment. INTAKE and EXHAUST VALVES of the compressor are subject to normal wear and are to be checked and eventually replaced after about 000 up to 500 service hours according to the operating conditions. (Hours can vary) DURING THE BREAK-IN PERIOD OF ABOUT 00 WORKING HOURS, THE OIL LEVEL SHOULD BE CHECKED WITH PARTICULAR CARE. LUBRICATION The oil change should be made every 60 days or 200 operating hours, whichever comes first. HD (heavy duty) and multigrade oils are not suitable for lubricating Schulz Compressor Pumps. The same applies to oils that tend to emulsify. Oils with high viscosity index (90 to 95) with rust or oxidation inhibitor are recommended, with the following SAE viscosity: RECOMMENDED LUBRICATING OILS FOR SCHULZ COMPRESSOR PUMPS AMBIENT TEMPERATURE ºF (ºC) Below 32 F 32 F to 68 F 68 F to 3º F Below 0 C (0 C to 20 C) (20 C to 55 C) SAE 0 W SAE 20 W SAE 30 **A circuit breaker is preferred. Use only a fuse or circuit breaker that is the same rating as the branch circuit the air compressor is operated on. If the air compressor is connected to a circuit protected by fuses, use dual element time delay fuses (Buss Fuestron Type "T" only).
