Patented SPVQ / SDVQ Series QUIET SINGLE DUCT TERMINAL UNIT In an era of increasing IAQ and noise concerns, this innovative product is specifically designed to meet the challenges headon. Certified assemblies ensure accurate and predicatable acoustic performance, while silencer geometry is precisely matched to the VAV terminal for superior attenuation and minimum pressure drop. The industry s first strategically designed, fully tested and AHRI certified Terminal and Silencer Unit assembly. AHRI certified assembly with no calculations or assumptions to determine silencer performance Proven Price damper assembly with accurate SP300 flow sensor SDVQ with elbow silencer for confined spaces Ideal for noise-sensitive applications such as libraries, classrooms and studios NVLAP LAB CODE 200874-0 www.priceindustries.com for additional product information, including product videos and brochures.

Product Information General Information The Price SPVQ (pneumatic controls), and SDVQ (digital controls) single duct VAV assemblies integrate both VAV and Silencer Technology into one complete package. These units are designed to control airflow rate of conditioned air into an occupied space while achieving the lowest noise levels in the industry. The Q series terminal is ideal for noise-sensitive applications such as classrooms, libraries, performance halls and studios. The acoustical discharge silencer is a direct coupled unit that mates perfectly with the VAV terminal unit. The VAV casing is lined with 1 in. insulation for optimum noise reduction and is designed to ensure an even velocity profile into the silencer section. The casing design and optimized silencer geometry reduce self-generated noise, minimize pressure drop and maximize acoustic attenuation. Extensive lab testing was used to determine the best combination of terminal and silencer configuration resulting in an assembly which achieves room noise levels of less than NC 35 without the addition of downstream acoustic insulation. The complete VAV terminal/silencer assembly has been tested and certified in accordance with AHRI Standard 880. The discharge and radiated sound data presented in this catalog is based on complete assemblies tested in the Price lab. No calculations or system effect assumptions are required to determine silencer performance. In the past, selection of VAV terminals with silencers has been a complex and risky proposition. The designer had to select the silencer from a variety of available models, free areas and sizes, evaluating silencer attenuation, self-generated noise and pressure drop without really knowing the performance effect of a close coupled silencer/ terminal combination. Price eliminates the guess work by providing an optimized, fully tested and certified assembly. These fully tested units with optimized geometry have similar pressure drops to that of standard SDV units. This allows the engineer to eliminate allowances for extra silencer pressure drop in the HVAC system. Price SDVQ series terminals are designed to take advantage of a silencer s acoustical and aerodynamic properties producing an extremely quiet unit while maintaining all the Price SDV standard features. (Refer to Price SDV catalog page F47 for all standard features and benefits associated to the SDV terminal unit). Features Perfectly tuned VAV/silencer design for outstanding performance DP similar to standard SDV eliminates the need to allow for silencer DP in the F-84 Model SDVQ Product Selection Checklist 1] Select Unit Inlet Size based on control and acoustic parameters. 2] Select Control type (Pneumatic, Digital) based on system design. 3] Select Accessories (Attenuator) as required. 4] Select Reheat Coil, if required. 5] Select Control Sequence based on system design. Liners SDVQ liners The SDVQ is provided as standard with a dual density fiberglass insulation in the terminal casing and acoustic fiberglass covered with perforated metal in the silencer section. Fiberglass insulation provides very good acoustic attenuation over all the frequency bands of interest for terminals and is considered by most to be applicable for use in most construction including non-critical healthcare applications. For critical spaces and other applications when cleaning, durability, moisture and damage during field installation and /or maintenance are concerns, other liners should be considered. Price offers several solutions for this requirement. Several liner options for the terminal casing are available. See the following pages for details and advantages of each liner type. Due to the silencer section downstream of the terminal the type of liner in the casing has negligible effect on acoustic performance. For the silencer section Price offers three liner systems. The Fiberglass Cloth option (FC) features a tightly woven fiberglass cloth wrapped around fiberglass media and covered with perforated metal liner which is facing the air inside of the silencer. The cloth prevents shedding of fiberglass media but as a porous material it does not prevent the absorption of moisture or pollutants. Since the liner is porous however it offers optimum sound performance which is equal to unlined fiberglass silencers. This allows use of the standard performance tables for selection. The second option is Polymer Film Liner (PL) which features Polymer film wrapped around fiberglass media packed inside of the silencer. The polymer film and perforated metal facing the air are separated with an acoustical stand off. This is typical industry construction for silencers where fiberglass isolation is required. Polymer film is a non porous reflective material so absorption of moisture is prevented however less sound absorption is achieved when compared to an unlined fiberglass silencer. Separate sound performance tables are provided for the PL option. The PL option is a good choice for areas were moisture may be encountered due to condensation or cleaning or for critical spaces such as labs, clean rooms or surgical suites. The third option is Packless Silencer (PKLS) which does not include any acoustic media. Packless silencers, sometimes referred to as reactive silencers, contain no absorptive material and are constructed solely of solid and perforated sheet metal. Attenuation of sound levels is achieved using multiple chambers of varying design F-92 Liners Selection PL Fiberglass Media Polymer Film Wrapped Around Fiberglass Insulation Acoustical Stand-Off Metal Cap Perforated Metal Liner Metal Cap VAV Terminal FF, CRAF, SM, PM, AFPM, WFPM, CRWF, FB Housing located behind a perforated metal liner. As sound passes through the silencer the acoustic energy is dissipated in a manner similar to the Helmholtz resonator concept, which results in decreased sound levels at the discharge of the silencer. Since these silencers are tuned to a narrow band of frequencies and do not rely on absorptive media, it is more difficult to achieve significant attenuation over broadband frequencies. PL Polymer Film Liner System Polymer film wrapped around fiberglass media packed inside of the silencer. The polymer film and perforated metal facing the air are separated with an acoustical stand off. This is a typical industry construction for silencers where fiberglass isolation is required. Polymer film is a reflective material so less sound absorption is expected from a silencer lined with it (see performance charts). Note that polymer film and acoustical stand off are both rated below 25/50 for flame and smoke development per ASTM E 84 and as such meets NFPA90A. PL Liner System complies with the following industry standards and tests: UL 181 (Air Erosion) UL 181 (Mold Growth and Humidity) UL 723 (25/50) (Flame and Smoke) ASTM E 84 (25/50) (Flame and Smoke) ASTM C 665 (Fungi Resistance) ASTM C 1071 (Physical Properties) Silencer PL, FC, PKLS Fiberglass Media Fiberglass Cloth Wrapped Around Insulation Metal Cap Perforated Metal Liner Metal Cap Housing All Metric dimensions ( ) are soft conversion. FC FC Fiberglass Cloth Liner System Standard construction features of the Price PL features tightly woven fiberglass cloth wrapped around fiberglass media and covered with perforated metal liner which is facing the air stream inside of the silencer. The cloth prevents shedding of fiberglass media but as a porous material it does not compromise the sound absorption. This liner offers optimum sound performance, equal to unlined fiberglass silencers. Note that fiberglass cloth is rated below 25/50 for flame and smoke development per ASTM E 84 and as such meets NFPA90A. Liners Terminal Casing FF CRAF CRWF Fiberglass with woven fabric facing FF Fiber Free Foam Insulation System This system integrates an engineered foam which provides excellent insulating characteristics. The foam edges are self sealing due to the material s composition. The engineered foam meets the requirements of NFPA90A and complies with the following industry standards and tests: UL 181 (Air Erosion) UL 181 (Mold Growth and Humidity) UL 723 (25/50) (Flame and Smoke) ASTM E 84 (25/50) (Flame and Smoke) CAN/ULC-102.2-M88 (Flame and Smoke) Fiber free foam insulation totally eliminates the risk of fiberglass particles entering the air stream while maintaining thermal resistance and acoustic absorption. An important advantage over other liner systems is that even scrapes or punctures will not expose fibers to the air stream. The foam also will not absorb water, reducing the likelihood of mold or bacterial growth. Acoustic absorption of the foam insulation is equivalent to aluminum foil faced insulation. All edges are sealed with metal endcaps and corner angles to prevent particles from entering the air stream. The liner s integrity is maintained where the damper shaft penetrates the insulation by a flanged nylon bushing. To reduce risk of liner damage during installation, sealed-in-place s-cleats are provided at the discharge collar. The inlet duct is sealed to the internal insulation with mold-resistant caulking which meets ASTM D-4300. The fiberglass insulation and aluminum foil liner complies with the following industry standards and tests: UL 181 (Air Erosion) UL 181 (Mold Growth and Humidity) UL 723 (25/50) (Flame and Smoke) ASTM E 84 (25/50) (Flame and Smoke) ASTM C 665 (Fungi Resistance) ASTM C 1071 (Physical Properties) Acoustic absorption of aluminum foil lined insulation is reduced compared to standard unlined units. The aluminum foil liner is nonporous, thereby protecting the insulation from moisture. The smooth surface of the liner reduces the risk of micro-organisms being trapped in the material and also facilitates cleaning. Damage to the liner can expose fiberglass particles to the air stream. NCs are derived from sound power levels, which are obtained in accordance with AHRI Standard 880-2011 and ASHRAE Standard 130-2008. 2. NCs are derived from sound power levels which include duct end corrections per AHRI Standard 880-2011. Please refer to page F25 for more details. 3. Blank spaces (--) indicate NCs less than 20. 4. Asterisks (*) indicate minimum static pressure of the 5. Airflow is given in L/s and cfm. 6. ΔPs is the difference in static pressure from inlet to discharge of 7. ΔPs for terminal units with electric coil is equal to basic unit. Resistance of the coil elements is negligible. 8. ΔPt is the difference in total pressure from inlet to discharge of F-96 9. For a detailed explanation of static and total pressure drop refer to page F64. 10. Pressure is given in Pa and in. w.g. 11. NC values are calculated based on procedures outlined in AHRI Standard 885-2008, A Procedure for Estimating Occupied Space Sound Levels in the Application of Air Terminals and Air Outlets. Radiated NC is based on a 5 /8 in. mineral fiber tile ceiling per AHRI 885-2008, Appendix E typical attenuation values. All Sizes 18 19 20 26 31 36 (1) Discharge NC is based on environmental effect, end reflection, flex duct and sound power division. No deductions for lined duct are included. These calculations are not covered by AHRI 885-2008 Appendix E. < 300 cfm 22 22 27 28 30 22 300 700 cfm 25 25 30 31 33 25 > 700 cfm 27 27 32 33 35 27 (2) Discharge NC is based on environmental effect, end reflection, flex duct, sound power division and lined duct per AHRI 885-2008 Appendix E attenuation values. < 300 cfm 24 28 39 53 59 40 300 700 cfm 27 29 40 51 53 39 > 700 cfm 29 30 41 51 52 39 All Metric dimensions ( ) are soft conversion.
