1. About Solkar Introduction SOLKAR is a very well known brand in India amongst other companies in Solar Industry. Started in the year 1984, by Mr. K. E. RAGHUNATHAN, an engineer with specialization in the field of solar energy, as a First Generation Entrepreneur. We are operating for more than 28 years in this industry with wide Innovation of solar products to reach a common man. We offer unrivalled breadth and depth of products and integrating technologies across platforms including Solar power plant both grid and off grid types, Solar Water Heater, Solar Street Lights, portable solar products such as Solar Lanterns, Solar Fans, SUN UPS etc. SOLKAR is ISO 9001:2000 certified for our Quality Management System. We support our customer with our expertise right from Design, Manufacturing, Installation & Maintenance and effective after sales service. 2. About Solar Generation Technology There is an ideal opportunity for domestic users / SME Units / Corporate sector / Builders / Large HT users / Colleges and schools / Govt Departments to install SOLAR POWER in their roof top to produce their own solar power for needs. The recent SOLAR POLICY announced by TN Govt. encourages the use of solar power to resolve Power crisis situation for EVER. There are two possibilities to Generate power from Solar Energy Roof Top System In this segment, you can install solar power plant on your roof, produce electricity in the day time and directly convert them into AC power and use for loads during day time or export to Grid and save on EB Bills. This system is most common for applications above 100 KW upto MW size. In this system, you can only use solar power when produced and not stored at all. Off Grid System In this segment, you can install solar power plant on your roof top, generate electricity and store it in the battery. The system functions in such a manner the battery is charged priority by solar power and if not by EB power. When the battery is full, if the solar power is available then the load is connected to solar power even when EB power is available. When solar is not available, if the battery is full the load is connected to EB power if available. When both Solar and EB power is not available the load is supplied from battery. Generally these systems are highly suitable for power cut situations and for capacities ranging from to 100 KW. Email: sales@solkar.in Website : www.solkar.in 2
3. System Sizing The first step while designing the system is to prepare a Load Chart as mentioned below : Load Chart Specimen for SPP Appliances Watts Consumed Qty Back up Hrs Required Total Watts Tube Light 40 W 4 6 960 Ceiling Fans 75 W 3 6 1350 Refrigerator 300 W 1 6 1800 Television 120 W 1 6 720 Or Appliances (1) Watts Consumed (2) Qty (3) Total Watt Hours 4830 Back up Hrs Required (4) Total Watts Tube Light 40 W 8 8 2560 Ceiling Fans 75 W 4 8 2400 Column (5) is arrived by multiplying Column (2), (3) and (4). (5) Total Watt Hours 4960 This means that you need a solar system which can generate col (5) in a day. Please note the Total Watt Hours which is the result of the chart and you can correlate this with the Technical Specification Chart in the Generation per day column given below and find what will be the size of your system requirement. The battery sizing depends on the load which will be used during non sunny hours. Therefore, the first thing a user must do is to prepare the load chart as above. Please do not take into account 3 phase appliances or Air conditioner as they will consume more energy and economically unviable. Email: sales@solkar.in Website : www.solkar.in 3

The roof can be Flat / Angular facing south. It needs to have the approach to clean periodically. Inverters and Batteries will be kept nearer to the Main Distribution Box. The load of each block in the building should be calculated separately. The weight of a solar module will be about 0.20 kg per watt. 6. Subsidy Details MNRE under JNNSM programme is offering capital subsidy to individuals as well as to commercial users. The subsidy is calculated at Rs. 60/- per watt on Solar Panel Capacity or 30% of system cost whichever is less. This is the scheme of Govt. of India and is applicable to all the States in India. The subsidy is processed through State Nodal agencies across India and it is through Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA) in Tamil Nadu. For details please visit www.mnre.gov.in or www.teda.in The subsidy is applicable on re-imbursement mode as per the policy. But to speed up the process of subsidy to the individual customers TEDA is accepting the applications through online and has taken necessary steps to issue the sanction instantly. For all the systems we will supply the system reducing the subsidy, AFTER we receive the sanction letter from the Government. If the subsidy amount is less than Rs. 60 / W, the difference will be paid by the user. If the subsidy amt is higher than Rs. 60/ w it will returned to the customer. In case of any additional Subsidy from State Government, all the necessary papers will be documented by us and you will receive the subsidy directly as applicable. 7.
