SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS The following safety instructions are provided to alert you to specific precautions which, if not followed, may cause serious injury to yourself or others. Please read these instructions completely. Become familiar with them, and follow all safety instructions carefully for your protection. Before operating the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX, carefully inspect the area which you will be clearing taking care to remove any items which may be picked up and thrown by the cutting blades, such as wire, steel pipes etc. If objects are too large to be removed from the area, they should be flagged. Brush Wolf 72 M-AX Rotary Brush Cutters may discharge material out the front and rear of the machine. NEVER operate near bystanders (500 foot distance), vehicle traffic, pets, livestock or buildings, and NEVER allow anyone to approach while the Brush Wolf is in operation. NEVER place hands, feet or other objects under the deck while the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX is in operation. To inspect or perform maintenance under the deck, always shut down power to the Brush Wolf, shut off the skidsteer engine, and disconnect hydraulic hoses. NEVER raise the mower deck when blades are rotating, even when turning the skidsteer. Raising the mower deck exposes the cutting blades, which creates the potential for injury by the rotating blades or objects thrown by blades. 3

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS, CONTINUED If an object is struck by the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX, IMMEDIATELY shut down power to BOTH the attachment AND the skidsteer. Any damage should be corrected and tested before resuming cutting. IMPORTANT: When inspecting or making repairs under the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX deck, always block the unit securely to prevent accidental release of the lifting mechanism. NEVER allow children under the age of 16 to operate a rotary brush cutter. ONLY persons with skidsteer experience who are well aquatinted with these rules of safe operation should be allowed to operate the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX. WARNING: The mower deck is not designed to support passengers. NEVER allow anyone to stand or ride on the mower deck while in operation. NEVER operate the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX in conditions of poor visibility, such as at night, or when brush is so thick that you cannot clearly see the area you are cutting. NEVER operate any rotary brush cutter while intoxicated or while taking medications that may impair your senses or reactions. NEVER leave the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX unattended while in a raised position. ALWAYS make sure both runners are placed firmly on the ground. CAUTION: Make sure all hydraulic connections are tight and hoses and shields are in good condition before pressurizing. DANGER: Hydraulic fluid escaping under pressure can penetrate skin and cause serious injury. If this type of injury occurs, SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY. CAUTION: Safety goggles and hearing protection MUST be worn while operating the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX, and ALL doors, shields and housings MUST be in place. 4

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Mount the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX on your skidsteer with the universal Quick-Tach system. Once connected, visually check the lock pins to make sure the unit is securely locked in place. All Brush Wolf 72 M-AX cutters come with universal flat-faced couplers attached to the hoses. Connect them to your skidsteer as you would any other hydraulic attachment. IMPORTANT: Do not operate the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX on Low Flow hydraulics (under 30 gpm). Doing so will damage the motor and void the warranty. All 72 M-AXs are High Flows, 30 40 gpm. When applying power to the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX, make sure the unit is operating smoothly and at full speed before moving the skidsteer forward. Make sure the runners of the unit are as close to the ground as possible. NEVER raise the rear of the unit higher than 7 inches above ground while cutting. Take care not to overload the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX. If the blades seem to be unable to handle the volume of brush, slow down until the unit reaches full speed before proceeding. Stay alert for drop-offs, holes, abandoned wells and septic tanks. Slow down and take extra care when operating the Brush Wolf 72 M-AX on a slope. Failure to do so could result in tipping or loss of control of the unit and possible injury. When cutting larger diameter brush and trees, move forward slowly, bending the tree over to make the cut. When finished cutting, throttle down the skidsteer, shut off hydraulic flow to the unit. CAUTION: If disconnecting hoses, use proper hand protection as couplers may be hot!! 5

MAINTENANCE Your new Brush Wolf 72 M-AX Rotary Brush Cutter is a precisely engineered attachment and requires little maintenance. This Brush Wolf 72 M-AX is manufactured to the highest standards and will deliver years of dependable service by following these maintenance guidelines. Before operation, check the skidsteer for proper hydraulic level. If low, fill to correct level. Check ALL nuts and bolts for proper tightness, especially those securing the motor. Tighten to 75 ft. lbs. with a torque wrench. Although every Brush Wolf 72 M-AX is tested at the factory and all nuts and bolts have been tightened, we recommend you check them after the first 4 6 hours of operation, and at regular intervals thereafter (See Maintenance Checklist). Tighten all nuts which secure the blades to the blade carrier every 8 hours. Torque to 450 ft. lbs. with a 1-11/16 socket. Nuts are located under the access plate on top of the cutter deck (see parts diagram, page 10). Also tighten the bolts holding the blade carrier to the lower end of the bearing housing. Torque to 450 ft. lbs. with a 15/16 socket. Inspect blades regularly to ensure that they are sharp, tightened correctly and not damaged CAUTION: Always replace blades in sets of 3, and NEVER try to weld or straighten damaged blades, as loss of blade integrity may result. Wash your Brush Wolf 72 M-AX frequently, cleaning the top AND underneath the cutting deck. Keeping the unit clean allows for easier inspection for damage or obstruction, and results in better overall performance. CAUTION: Replace missing or illegible safety decals immediately. Items are available at your Brush Wolf 72 M-AX dealer. CHECK: Lubricant level once yearly or when oil is noticeable on bearing housing. Remove the two magnetic oil plugs and check for metal debris, if metal debris is found call your dealer for maintenance. Drain oil and replace with 80-90 gear lube (1 pint or 16 oz.) and reinsert oil plugs. IMPORTANT: Do not over fill; too much lubricant will rupture bearing seals. MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE/CHECK LIST CAUTION: Perform maintenance on level surface with unit firmly on ground. Shut off hydraulic power supply and disconnect hydraulic couplers. Nuts and Bolts *EXTREMELY IMPORTANT Check for tightness every 16 hours. Torque to 200 ft. lbs. Check blade bolts every 8 hours. Torque to 450 ft. lbs. Check all other misc. nuts and bolts. Blades Inspect for dull or damaged blades before each use. Replace damaged blades in sets of 3. NEVER try to weld or straighten damaged blades. Inspect bearing housing. Remove any foreign material from shaft. Hoses and Hose Safety Shield Check every 8 hours for wear and/or damage. Storage Clean unit thoroughly and inspect for wear or damage. Protect hydraulic couplers from dirt and corrosion. NOTE: Do not loan your 72 M-AX to another skidsteer owner for fear of hydraulic contamination that may shorten the life of your skidsteer hydraulics and the hydraulic motor on your 72 M-AX. 6
