He is the owner of a metalworking company in Lower Bavaria, focussing on classic structural steelwork. Since last year, Karl Haslinger has been building cranes, more precisely: standard and off-standard solutions for all aspects of crane manufacturing with great success. True to the motto "everything from a single source," Haslinger GmbH covers all crane manufacturing work from planning to manufacture to on-site erection. "Our goal is to be a competent partner for our customers in our region," says Karl Haslinger. How does a metalworker metamorphose into a crane manufacturer? Several tonnes of steel are cut, welded, painted: this is the completed crane bridge. Now it needs lifting, drive and control technology to turn it into a functioning high-tech crane. STAHL CraneSystems, one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality crane technology, now has a new sales concept that begins right here. The crane manufacturer is supplied with all the crane technology modules packed in a handy CraneKit pre-assembled, prewired, fully labelled and documented. The components need only be assembled and plugged into the appropriate sockets. All components are bench-tested before delivery so that the crane is ready for use right away. Teamwork that makes sense What's new about this concept: STAHL CraneSystems has no longer been building crane systems since 2009. Instead, the technology leader is utilising this new flexibility to press ahead with developing and manufacturing state-of-the-art lifting, drive and control technology. Everything else customer consulting, planning, building the crane system,
and service and spare parts supply is carried out by the local crane manufacturer. There is more than one idea behind this: on the one hand the local crane manufacturer is more flexible, he knows his customers and can advise them faster and more directly. On the other hand he profits from the matured technology and expertise that STAHL CraneSystems has accumulated in 130 years of crane manufacturing and places at his disposal for his projects. Due to the clear separation of crane manufacturing from crane technology, STAHL CraneSystems is for him not a competitor on the crane market but a reliable partner. Last but not least, the improved customer support and the more closelymeshed sales network have a positive effect on sales a classic win-win situation for all concerned. Sophisticated planning aids In order to make the collaboration as productive as possible for all parties involved, STAHL CraneSystems offers its crane manufacturers wide-ranging support, first and foremost the good old personal contact to sales and R&D departments. Right from the planning stage, STAHL CraneSystems assigns an expert to the customer so that the best possible advice is guaranteed by their collaboration. In the case of complex crane systems in particular, the crane manufacturer can access the expertise of STAHL CraneSystems' R&D department directly, who will assist him not only in questions relating to crane technology but also crane design. As the world's major supplier of off-standard hoists and explosion-protected cranes, in this respect STAHL CraneSystems offers crane manufacturers advantages in expertise and technology which give them access to the lucrative market in off-standard designs and special solutions. The basis for all customer-specific off-standard hoists is provided by the world's largest complete range of chain and wire rope hoists. Selecting the ideal technology from this immense finely-graded programme has been very much simplified by the new in-house "CraneGuide" software. The CraneGuide is available to all crane manufacturers free of charge and helps them to plan, calculate and order the crane technology. The crane manufacturer defines the technological specifications via input masks and then automatically receives not only a corresponding three-dimensional visualisation of the crane, but a complete quotation based on his individual terms. Thus even complicated projects can planned simply and calculated in practically no time at all. If questions should arise during planning, the planning data can be forwarded directly to a STAHL CraneSystems expert for discussion. To ensure that the high quality of the products is reflected in consulting and service, STAHL CraneSystems offers an extensive range of training courses for crane manufacturers and fitters. In addition to technical information on the products, innovations and expert knowledge, e.g. on the subject of explosion protection, are communicated. These training courses enable the crane manufacturer and his fitters to carry out all maintenance and repairs independently and thus offer full customer service. Nevertheless for difficult projects they always have access to the STAHL CraneSystems customer service centre which will provide speedy and unbureaucratic assistance.
Powered by STAHL CraneSystems STAHL CraneSystems has been in existence for over 130 years now. By means of its strong R&D department and many pioneering inventions, the company has been able to exert a decisive influence on the technological progress of the industry. The well thought out standard programme, refined to ingenious off-standard designs and explosionprotected hoists, has helped the company to gain global success. In spite of the immense pressure on prices, STAHL CraneSystems continues to trust in matured products and regards itself as a premium supplier on the crane technology market. Precision parts such as gearwheels, gears or rope drums are manufactured solely in the Künzelsau plant in Germany. Rigorous up-to-date test procedures ensure the high quality and the corresponding particularly long service life of the products. Which in the last analysis is of advantage not only to the customers who work with the hoists but also to the crane manufacturers who sell them. STAHL CraneSystems communicates its high standards of quality and brand thinking by the new slogan "powered by STAHL CraneSystems" that adorns all new cranes equipped with crane technology from STAHL CraneSystems. Karl Haslinger is content. The first CraneKit, which he received at the end of February, was erected in record time, the technology worked straightaway. His crane beam production, set up just in 2009, is working at such full capacity that he erected a second building at the beginning of the year and is already planning further expansion. "I didn't expect so many customers to ask specifically for STAHL CraneSystems technology," Karl Haslinger is pleased to note. "It turns out that we as crane manufacturers are in a very fortunate position thanks to the high degree of competence prevailing at STAHL CraneSystems, both in sales and production."
