Thank you for your purchase of the Weistec CLK Black Series Rear Suspension Bushing Upgrade for the 2008 Mercedes CLK63 Black Series. Please follow all directions, and keep a clean work space when commencing installation. Tools Required 3/8 Impact Gun 3/8 Drive Ratchet and Socket Set 3/8 Drive Torx set Hydraulic Press Electric Reciprocating Saw 2
I. Lower Control Arms 1. Securely lift vehicle(using a lift is recommended) 2. Remove rear wheels 3. Remove Lower Control Arm by unbolting the three bolts shown below. To avoid confusion and incorrect installation of suspension arms, work on only one arm at a time. Be sure to take note of orientation of each arm prior to removal. This will make installation easier. 4. Once the Lower Control Arm has been removed, use a hydraulic press to press out the factory bushings. There are two per arm. 3
5. Press in new Lower Control Arm Bushings as shown below. 4
6. Press in Lower Control Arm Bushing Sleeve. Be sure to put grease on the sleeve as well as in the bushings 7. Reinstall Lower Control Arm using original hardware. 8. Repeat Steps 3 through 7 for the other Lower Control Arm. 5
II. Forward Most Rear Link Arms 1. Remove the forward most Link Arm by a. Loosening the two bolts shown below b. Cutting the bolts off using a reciprocating electric saw. New hardware is included to replace the two bolts that must be cut during removal. c. Remove Bolt holding the other end of the Link Arm 6
2. Once the Link Arm has been removed, use a hydraulic press to press out the factory bushings. There are two per arm. 7
3. Press in new Link Arm Bushings as shown below. 4. Press in Link Arm Bushing Sleeve. Be sure to put grease on the sleeve as well as in the bushings 8
5. Reinstall Link Arm using original and included new hardware. Each arm has either an R or L stamped into it indicating whether it is a Right side or Left Side arm. The arm should be installed with the stamped letter on the corresponding side. 6. Repeat Steps 1 through 5 for the other Forward Most Link Arm. 9
III. Remaining Link Arms 1. At this point, there will be 4 remaining link arms. 2. Remove one of the remaining Link Arms 3. Once the Link Arm has been removed, use a hydraulic press to press out the factory bushings. There are two per arm. 4. Press in new Link Arm Bushings as shown below. 10
5. Press in Link Arm Bushing Sleeve. Be sure to put grease on the sleeve as well as in the bushings 11
IV. 6. Reinstall Link Arm using original hardware. Each arm has either an R or L stamped into it indicating whether it is a Right side or Left Side arm. The arm should be installed with the stamped letter on the corresponding side. 7. Repeat Steps 2 through 7 for the other remaining Link Arms until non remain. Final Steps 1. Double check and make sure all suspension arms are properly installed and that all hardware is torqued properly 2. Bolt on wheels to factory specified torque 3. Lower vehicle onto ground and verify that the rear suspension travels as it should 4. Installation is complete At this point you will be ready to drive the vehicle. Double check you have removed all tools, and also double check that all suspension arms are properly installed and fastened. Improperly installed suspension arms will result in poor alignment as well as excessive suspension noise and movement. 12
