MANN+HUMMEL Oil-th ir clener Single-stge ir clener without spre prts 57
Oil-th ir clener: Servicing without spre prts The proven oil-th ir cleners from MANN+HUMMEL re suitle for light to medium dust conditions nd hve long een estlished in our rnge of ir cleners. Servicing cn e mde without spre prts using engine oil ville on site nd clening cn e crried out with Diesel fuel. This mkes the oil-th clener prcticlly independent of service supplies. It is therefore often used in mchines nd vehicles which hve to operte relily in remote regions where supply of spre prts is not lwys gurnteed. Advntges t glnce: very roust metl design servicing without spre prts volumetric flow rtes etween.4 m 3 /min nd 9 m 3 /min re covered different versions; ville with integrted mounting flnge Sectionl view Design nd principle of opertion dirty ir inlet clen ir outlet Intke ir is routed vi the oil th. There the corse prticles re removed from the ir nd the ir is rerouted upwrds. As the ir strems upwrds, oil from the oil th wets the filter pcking nd the dirt in the intke ir is deposited there. The oil flows ck to the th where the dirt settles. filter insert The oil th chieves mximum seprtion efficiency of pprox. 98.5% nd is therefore not s efficient s the filtrtion performnce of modern dry ir clener (> 99.95%). oil reservoir 58
Servicing A correctly dimensioned oilth clener will not lose oil when in opertion. The servicing of the oil-th clener should e crried out t the ltest when the deposited dirt hs reched hlf the height of the oil level or if the oil hs ecome thick. To service the ir clener the oil reservoir is first removed nd the oil is disposed of ccording to the environmentl regultions. Then the sludge is removed from the oil reservoir nd the metl filter insert is tken out. This is clened with Diesel or with pressure wsher. Then the oil reservoir is re-filled with fresh stndrd engine oil up to the mrking nd plced in the housing together with the insert. Dimensioning nd instlltion When configuring the size, cre should e tken tht the nominl flow rte of the ir clener is s close s possile to, ut not more thn, the mximum ir requirement of the engine. If n oil-th ir clener is specified to e too lrge, or if the oil level is too low, then the seprtion efficiency decreses. If the oil-th ir clener is specified to e too smll, or if the oil level is too high, then oil contining dirt my e drwn through to the clen side, resulting in premture engine wer. When oil-th cleners re used with compressors nd engines with 4 cylinders (not turochrged), dimensions must e corrected using pulstion fctors to compenste for the pulstions in the ir strem. Oil-th ir cleners must e instlled verticlly. 59
